The past months here at the studio have been hectic, but our labors are paying off. It is with regret that I must make the decision to push back the public release of the Town Square module from April 23; however, the delay will be quite minor. Because this is now the second delay to an official firm release date, and because we expect this delay to be short-lived, we are as of this announcement releasing the Asylum Task Tracker. The new task tracker, visible on the Town Square section of the official website (here's a link for you), offers the Identity community and fans absolute transparency in our development progress. You can now see the tasks we have to complete before we're ready for the module to be publicly available. It will be updated each and every day. The list is not long, and displays all tasks since the tracker was created only a day ago. When all of the tasks are completed, of which none are major, Town Square will be released on Steam and available for play. Furthermore, the new Identity website is on schedule for a release just next week! The new website will come with all sorts of cool new features and we'll be building on it constantly as we move forward, too. With the release of the new website, I'm also going to begin regular Identity Insider releases. These Insider publications will add a ton of very detailed information on key systems within Identity. Delays are unfortunately a reality of all game development, whether a game is being produced by a large studio with hundreds of developers or a small team, such as ours, with only dozens. We faced unforeseeable technical issues recently; however, all of the issues we had have been fully resolved and, as you can see with the new tracker, release is extremely close. As soon as we get some final bits of art in place, we're going to compile a Town Square trailer video and begin showing off the game and environments on our development streams. So to sum it all up, keep an eye on the new tracker (see that link above) and follow our progress. The tracker will be updated once per day as it has to be done manually. Once we get our production software updated so that it can be automated, it'll be a live display. I also want to say that you to our loyal community and fan-base. Delays are never a fun thing to experience with any game, so everyone here in the studio is working overtime like crazy to get you into our world. You'll be in the Town Square very soon and this is going to make the game a much better experience. I'm really excited for our first module release as it's shaping up to be a really fun and beautiful experience. In fact, the Town Square is much more than I even though it would have been early on; I'm extremely happy with what we've put together. I hope you enjoy the peak behind the scenes with the new task tracker and we'll be seeing you in the square soon!

Seeing the Dev Tracker of Town Square I am a bit fed up with how you guys are handeling it. It is looking more and more like the game will be away for another 2/3 years and seeing you guys wanted to release today, but couldnt is fine, but the tracker clearly shows you guys were already aware that you are not able to release it. So if this is a marketing stunt, please be honest. I rather refund now and have true transparancy than lies over and over again.

Hi! I'm Order, and I joined just yesterday! I never made an introduction, though, so here I am now! I'm really excited for this game, and I want to support it's community and development as best I can. It's nice to meet all of you, by the way! I wont waste any more of your time; thanks for reading!

Paratus: "we expect this delay to be short-lived" (X) [Doubt] Seriously though, I understand that developing a game is hard and new companies have to understand their limits to their capabilities when making games. But from experience, can we really believe this? or is this "short-lived" delay actually going to be another month or two delay? I'm sure Asylum Entertainment Inc have heard of "development hell" well, from the information given to us, all the signs are pointing towards being stuck in limbo. I'd be honored if you could reply and give us some reassuring insight into whats going on. and maybe answer a couple of questions? 1. why is it that you keep expecting the module to be ready for a certain date, then get to the date and realize that actually you were nowhere near it? 2. why didn't the gameplay demo we recently received showing parts to do with the S.W.A.T and RACING modules but not actually showing us anything to do with what you've created thus far since the apartment showcase? you would think that the best way to quell turmoil in the community would be to release something showing what you've done so far with what your about to give us. not something that was supposed to be created AFTER the the first promised module was done. you even stated when it was released that a lot of the models, textures and animations were placeholders. 3. why hasn't there been much clarity in your responses towards whats going on at Asylum Entertainment Inc? (I understand that the announcements do provide a lot of information but they don't match up to the delays posted and talked about) I'm no game developer (however I am currently getting qualifications to be one) but I think if you could answer as many of these questions the best you could, it would put a lot of our minds at ease, even if the answer isn't the best news, as long as we can have something to make our own assumptions on would be great. (in the end these are questions I have asked to myself and if anything isn't what someone else would want asked or feel offended by my post i apologize in advance)

Back then we had no tracker and so we are not back where we started. The Module will be out when it is ready, you can go and look at the tracker here: https://www.identityrpg.com/info/modules/townsquare/

Let me say that my faith has been shaken not only because of the 3rd delay(that I know of) but because of almost every single one of the ppl who I told about this game and got them to pledge, has come back to me pointing out these facts to me and I gotta tell you, your not helping your case setting all these deadlines for yourselves and then missing them. I got to be honest here...this last delay is a bit disconcerting for a lot of people that I've sent your way. Dev blogs with more promises that this won't take much longer aren't very reassuring after the 3rd time ...Let me state that I bought a PC because of this game. After years on console, the idea of a game this epic, that can really distinguish PC gaming from console, made me decide it was time to get a PC. Now if they can pull it off, Identity can give us a game worthy of playing on some of these insanely priced rigs we pay for. But honestly after all the hype, 3 delays that I know of, 2 of which were further from the first because they didnt want to come out with a date prematurely and miss it. Which they did twice anyway...Now there is a more detailed progress tracker, which is honestly what we shoulda had in the first place, that doesn't look very complete. It looks so incomplete it that it makes me wonder how they could announce and miss 3 release dates in the first place. Now I'm not sitting here with a $15 to $30 "pledge"...In My Opinion that isn't a pledge. That's just trying to get an epic game for a pittance of what it's worth. I mean GTA went for $60 brand new for how long after it released? Gta is only life as a criminal. Not to mention they had a blank check to make it with thousands of people involved in development. Identity is life from a criminal side, working class side, civil servant side as well as many other aspects. And ppl think it's gonna get made by "pledging" $15-$30, now imagine how watered down GTA would be if they only invested a quarter or half of what they did to develop it. They put roughly 265 million dollars into developing/marketing, just the criminal side of life. Now either the fan base expects you guys to work a whole lot of hours, or put 264 million on top of our 1.1 million...That is why I DONATED what I did because this game can be so much more than gta, but it won't happen without our help... I am not asking for a refund, the money I put in was theirs to complete the game, or if they didn't. I really want Identity to become a reality. But if WE as their player base and investors, don't give them enough funding it won't come out. They'll either have to give up or get outside funding, if they get outside funding they could have to give up alot of artistic freedom's. We invest to keep the game WE want to see come to life...They would invest to make money, so certain things would get chopped. I paid for 60 my game, and gave another 190 towards helping Identity become real. I realize the scale of this game and what it's going to take to get made, and 1.1 million isn't gonna cut it. A massive portion of what it takes to make a game is man hours. People don't work for free...So if it took them so long to make gta with a blank check and thousands of ppl. How long and how much will it take to make a game that is bigger in scale than one of the biggest games released to date. To say GTA isn't massive is crazy, and this is so much bigger than that. This is like GTA, meets the Sims, meets police, fire & EMT simulator, meets politics & government simulator, meets drug making simulator, meets hunting simulator, and so on and so forth. So I am hoping that things really are going as good as we hear. But it seems to me that maybe we aren't being told the whole truth...are they getting enough funding, or something else...It seems that we are only hearing about the good side of development, honestly the only bad things I've heard is when a delay happens. I think we deserve to be kept in the loop a little better. At the very least more than a very cryptic progress tracker with no date and another "minor " setback promise. I have $250 into this game, I don't wipe my ass with hundreds either, but a game that's this massive of an undertaking is gonna need as much help as we can give it..With that being said we've seen a lot of telling us how fast things are moving, and top industry talent is working overtime in overdrive, and things are moving faster than they thought, you guys have a powerful new server making nightly builds for testing on steam. Everything is beginning to have that polished feel you expect in a real released game? Yet 3 delays, and only a scripted looking "game play" trailer...And now no release date just a more detailed progress tracker that really looks like there is a very LONG wait ahead of us...yet its predicted to be yet again a very "minor" wait.

I think (in full honesty) that the waiting has been long enough, they keep promising, and you arent suppose to break those but now we are a full three months late and that they need to hurry up. I know its a big game but they have over 1,000,000 dollars to produce one module with. I think me and many others are starting to lose faith...
  14. 1 point
Yeah... it is crazy how they are lying to us... 60 tasks or not... they said they were pretty much done and blatantly lied... they could have said weeks ago.. oh we have 60 tasks left sadly... give us a few more weeks and we will be good.. That would have been way more well received than 2 days before..

We started where we left in 2016... Thats the honest truth... Blows my mind how the developers was saying in the stream that the TS is so ready and they are so hyped.... Turned out that the TS was not ready and they knew it the entire time.... And how they are playing the victims and they are the innocent...

Formally, they didn't say it was delayed. However, the community is saying that because the tracker is monitoring the TS progress, the tracker is the better teller of release time. The tracker is not saying the Town Square is finished.

Have they actually said it's been delayed? or are you just going off the tracker on the town square page?

I believe in this game, not just because of optimism, but because they have about a million dollars under their belts, and they've made their ties to Steam very overt. Steam is a respected company/system/whatever-it-is, and cannot afford to risk scamming everyone like this. Steam has to trust Asylum, and they seem to, so in turn, I'm going to trust Asylum. I don't know how long this game will take, but I'm willing to be patient. We're seeing changes and improvements. We know they're doing work. Delays are aggravating, yes, but it is going to mean well in the end.
  21. 1 point
My guess is Less than a month, I'm not shaked at all by the delay. And Reaction to scam: it's 1000% not scam ! ... To much infos, to much conection to devs, transparent enough for the moment. *runs and hide*

Two delays are just fine, this is not uncommon in game development this includes triple A games. I think people fail to remember is that they announced the game as soon as they started the development process due to the fact that they needed funding. Don't get me wrong I don't like the delay as I have been a supporter of this idea since close to the start. I can see how people get frustrated with these delays but it takes time. With delays comes a better game though, they now have more time to work on the game fix bugs and add more features that may not have been in the game if they pressed go on the intended date. Another thing we have to look at is how much this development team has matured over time. Remember when we never got dev blogs or update? I do. We now have a community manager, they moved into a whole new office space, we get a dev blog every month, along with streams that happen all the time through out the week, and we can now see what they are working on as a tracker has been added to the town square page and it has a link right to it on the front page of the site. With these delays the dev team has seen and acknowledge that people don't like delays, why they didn't give us a date when they said the delay, but they gave us a way to see their progress. I however fail to understand that people who want to play this game as much as they want win the lottery or people who just got on board are turning against it when this dev team has only gotten more transparent with us. This being said I don't think the dev team aren't allowed to be criticized (some of it being deserved) and people can't have their own thoughts about what is going on. I just think people are over reacting. But what do I know.

Last month, you stated that you were nearly done but needed a little bit longer to finish up, and so gave yourselves an extra month to deliver the TS module. This, was clearly intentional lies. Judging by your dev tracker, you haven't completed UI, UX, gameplay, animations, 2D graphics, character art, environment, props, technical art, or systems. How could you have possibly been 'nearly done' last month when the most basic elements weren't completed. Last delay, you made it out as if you just needed to smoothen out some animations or design a new font, which was intentional deceitfulness. I ask you this, what have you completed 100%? Because it seems to me the most basic elements of a game aren't even close to being done, so what exactly is done?

Most systems are done. Few are not. Having a task for a system doesn't mean it's not complete, it means we need to enhance it or correct some things. You see a few tasks listed, you don't see the thousands that are already completed before the tracker went live.

We didn't give a date because it all depends on how smoothly things go. I don't expect it to be very long though. This is why the tracker is the ideal solution; you can see the progress as it's happening and as we knock out more tasks you'll get a good understanding of a release date. Essentially, you have most of the data we do (minus task time estimations) for establishing release dates now.
  36. 1 point
The tasks included in that tracker are those from the time the tracker was developed, just over a day ago.

If you guys hype this up too much and it gets delayed again it'll be on yourselves. They've said nothing about the new website launch or town square trailer and yet both things were supposed to happen before launch. They'll give the same excuse and tell us once again they'll be more transparent with what's happening and give us more media which once again won't happen just like now

Hey all, I haven't been on here for a while but let me introduce myself. My name is Chris, and since the Kickstarter of this game, I have wanted to be a SWAT Team Leader/Trainer. Why may you ask? I've played a lot of Garry's Mod and other RP intensive games, and all the more common I see people running in guns blazing, dying, or just looking completely idiotic. There would be no tactics, no gear for tactics (as it may not be supplied by the game or server) and just idiots running around shooting everything. While I know for a fact the idiots running around shooting everything won't be a problem, I still have a problem with the thought of people not knowing what they're doing and completely screwing up a situation. Let me start off by saying that I am familiar with how SWAT gets deployed, so let me explain how that will work in case people are confused or unfamiliar with how it's going to work. When a standoff or dangerous situation occurs, a SWAT van will be deployed outside the situation area. There, on duty or off-duty police officers who are a part of the SWAT division will go to the van and "suit up". No one is a permanent SWAT member and runs around with military grade weapons, you're a cop when SWAT isn't needed. Here are my questions for the developers and people who are familiar with this information. Will there be someone whose job is to specifically train members on SWAT? Training will include how to properly use certain gear, how to properly breach and clear a room, how to handle hostages, as well as how to handle certain specific situations. Will the police headquarters have a shooting range, as well as will there be a location for a killhouse? For those who don't know, a killhouse is a specific location designed for training SWAT members on breaching and clearing, as well as to practice shooting. It's literally a house made to be breached and shot in. What kind of gear will SWAT have available to them? Will it be anything like the game SWAT 4? I bring up SWAT 4 because it's one of my favorite games of all time, and is highly regarded as one of the best tactical shooters of all time. I would like to know if a good amount of gear will be available to SWAT. Specifically: Flashbangs, CS Gas, Stinger Grenades, C2 Breaching Charges, Breaching Shotguns, Optiwands, Drones, Door Wedges, Tasers, Pepper-Ball guns, Less-Lethal Shotguns, and lastly the ability to pick locked doors. Will members of SWAT have their own private communication system, where a team-leader can communicate with his squad, vice-versa, and with each other? Will the police and SWAT have access to cameras located inside situation areas to get a view on the hostiles, the layout, and possible hostages? Will they also be able to get a blueprint of the map/situation area? These are all my questions I can think of right now. I realize there is a lot, and I don't expect a dev to answer all of these, although that would be amazing. If anyone at all is able to give me an answer that is confirmed by the devs up to now I would very much appreciate it. I take this job seriously and I want to have a lot of fun with it, thank you all for reading!

Actually, in current training every officer is rapidly becoming a SWAT officer. After Columbine there was a lot of tactical research that showed SWAT response time was making it useless for anything but high-risk warrant service. At Columbine the only officer who even got a shot at the villains was the SRO, who engaged them at long range, stopping them from reaching students fleeing the school. By the time SWAT was suited up and ready to go Kliebold and Dylan were dead. At North Hollywood line officers engaged the two robbers but were forced to break into a gun store and steal AR-15s to effectively suppress the bad guys. SWAT made an amazing effort to arrive, showing up at +18:00 from start of incident, and were instrumental in rescuing wounded and stopping the issue, but even then they were not fully equipped, lacking much of specialized tactical gear. In my own service 9/11 had many officers grabbing whatever they could find and carrying it in their cars until the official acquisition channels could fight through public resistance and budget issues to get us SWAT weapons. For nearly a year I carried a MAS 49/56 until it was replaced by a M16A1 then an M4. By then we had adopted a four and go policy. When faced with a active shooter the first officer on scene sets up a muster point, and then on arrival of the fourth officer they go in as a stick. A lot of times one of us would be a SWAT officer, but many of us, including the reservists and some of the forensic people who were officers, plus detectives, had the complete SWAT training, we just did not have the continuation training which makes SWAT so good. As for training, the best there is in my experience is not a trainer but your own sergeant who runs your patrol stick through building and tactical during training sessions. When you take active shooter and building entry you may never see the guys you train with again, but when you train with your district teams you know for sure they will be by your side when it gets real.

As a former officer in the exact same area the game covers most departments were converging on some model of Glock. I carried a Glock 23 on duty (since I was tasked with a lot of forensics) and a Taurus 85 CIA of duty. On 9/11 a lot of officers were forced to bring in their personal rifles that met department needs. I actually ended up with a MAS 49/56 for a few months until they replaced them with M16A1 from federal stocks and eventually M4s. We never used it but the MAS 49/56 had a grenade launcher which could be used to breach doors. My shotgun was an older Model 5. In the game though I think weapon escalation and turning the streets into free fire zones is bad medicine. Imagine the model Rank Weapon Assigned Patrol Officer Recruit (P1) Smith and Wesson Model 10 6-rd .38 special slow reload lower lethality (speed loader option for regular reload) Patrol Officer (P2) Smith and Wesson Model 19 6-rd .357 magnum slow reload higher lethality (speed loader option for regular reload) Senior Patrol Officer (P3) Smith and Wesson Model 39 8-rd 9x19mm fast reload standard lethality Corporal (P4) Smith and Wesson Model 59 15-rd 9x19mm fast reload standard lethality At sergeant you can stay with patrol, go to detective, go to SWAT, etc. and get better goodies. Detectives and SWAT need to have patrol division staffed so you do not want 100 swathes and one guy on the street. Justification: The movement to high firepower weapons in the hands of police is not new. In the 1930s criminals gained access to automatic weapons from National Guard Armories and began using them in crimes. Police forces began in turn to unarm. The process though was gradual, and often had officers with higher rank getting more capable weapons as a way to ensure their competent use. The PA State Troopers is a great example. In the 1930s in response to body armor being used by bad guys, senior patrol troopers were given the option of buying their own .357 Magnum revolvers, which were pioneered for this use. Junior officers carried a .38 revolver and were only allowed to carry two rounds loads for safe. They would be instructed to load the rest by the senior officer (it was a different era, remember, officers could be given a shoot to kill order then, something illegal today when legal theory revolves around stopping shots.) The most famous lawmen who fought battle with big criminals often carried very modest weapons, relying on skill rather than firepower. Frank Hamer, facing may Tommy Gun and BAR wielding crooks famously used a Remington Model 8 rifle with an extended magazine to kill these outlaws. When preparing to go up against Bonny and Clyde, Hamer noticed that one of the deputies, Prentiss Oakley, was planning on carrying a shotgun into battle. Hamer showed his own Model 8 in 3 5 Remington and said - go find one of these. Oakley had no other rifle, and had used his friend model 8 (without extended magazine) for hunting, so he borrowed it for the fight. Clyde Borrow was thus killed either by Oakley or Hamer, as it was a 35 Remington shot that was fatal for him.

Important Note: Currently available Pledge packages are temporary and will no-longer be available for purchase after website-changes are made in the near future. Pledge rewards and account credit will be automatically deducted from the account upon receiving a refund. Administrative action will NOT be taken against accounts that are issued refunds. Refunds can only be processed if purchases fall within the 180 day window Paypal offers for buyer protection. Important Note(STEAM): Due to technical limitations, refunds cannot be provided to accounts that have been manually linked to STEAM by the account holder. If you claim a STEAM Key for the "Identity: Town Square" module, it will no-longer be possible for "Asylum Entertainment Inc." to process refund requests due to our inability to de-activate the steam key after it is claimed via the STEAM desktop client. Future purchases from the STEAM Store or marketplace will require STEAM Support to process any refund requests, and will be subject to STEAM's own refund policy. The Account support forum is not an efficient channel for refund request, as Asylum Entertainment staff and volunteer moderators who would normally visit this forum to offer assistance with account related matters do not have access to its user's financial history with Asylum Entertainment via PayPal or other means. We are committed to pleasing our customers and donators in every way, and we respect that there are personal reasons in which a user may feel compelled to request a refund. We therefore ask that users who would like to request a refund do so via the Paypal website, or through Paypal customer service (1-888-221-1161) - the only method of Payment that we accept at this time. Please allow for a minimum of 5-10 business days for requests to be granted by Asylum Entertainment Inc. We strongly believe this newly recommended process will be much more efficient for those who may experience unintended delays in response to email requests, as it will not require pledgers to provide additional account information, or manual database queries. Asylum Entertainment and its hard-working development team appreciate the patience and understanding of our community members who understand that Game Development is a slow and challenging process. We are a small team working diligently to produce a unique game experience that has never been attempted previously. We thank you for your continued patience and support. Below is a visual guide illustrating the steps required to complete a refund through Paypal services. STEP 1: Select 'Log in' to PayPal STEP 2: Confirm PayPal Log in STEP 3: Select "More" from the ribbon at the top of the page, and then select "Resolution Center" from the drop-down menu. STEP 4: Select "Report a Problem" STEP 5: Find & Select your Pledge Payment to Asylum Entertainment, Inc., and then select "Continue" STEP 6: Choose the most relevant option relating to your problem. For refunds, we recommend selecting, "I have a billing issue" and then pressing continue before choosing "I want to report an issue that's not described". Either way, we'll find it. Truth - When will the game be released? Answer: From now there is no release date anymore. There is only a tracker that you track the developers as they make the game.
