*Frank walks in the backroom of the club, Antonio and Paulie behind him. He hangs up his leather jacket, and pours himself a dram of whisky. Frank: "Hey boys, what going on? By the way did you hear that a new high rise condo was just proposed for Schuyler heights? That's close to our turf and that means they should build the condos with our concrete, if they don't want that building to fall. Hehe, you know what I mean?"

*After sitting for a few minutes and collecting his thoughts, Kevin grabs his gun off of the table and heads out to his Velociraptor. He climbs into the truck, and places the handgun in its spot in the center console. Kevin drives through the business sector, stopping at his other shop just on the outskirts. He unlocks the door and heads inside, where he sets to work on the 1968 Mustang GT still sitting on the lift. As he works he starts muttering to himself* "Great going genius, it's bad enough having the mob higher ups expecting you to work on their expensive cars, but now you have started getting involved with the fucking Yakuza" *Kevin hears the chime of the door opening out front, so he heads out to see who it is, grabbing a large wrench off the table* "Hey who's there, we're closed today"

It'd be cool if you could indulge in dif. activities in jail instead of having to sit there doing nothing the entire time (like how Arma life jails are ). If you could establish a fighting career in jail (through an underground illegal fight club like Mafia 2/Luke Cage had), have a better cell if you had a powerful position prior to being jailed, work out in the recreational yard, have corrupt correctional officers (through RP), have the ability to pay bail, shank rival gang members in the cafeteria, etc. then that'd be amazing. You should also be able to make money (maybe through fighting, trade) or even establish a reputation for your character to set yourself up for when you are released (if you wanted to join a gang, form a group, get jail connections, etc.) You should also be allowed to leave whenever you want (of course after serving your min. jail term depending on the crime). When you are ready to leave and you've served the min. amount of time, you could request to "modify your sentence" and ask the judge to be released early (just to follow RP), ultimately allowing your release. Anyways, just an idea, if you'd like to build off/take some pieces from it go right ahead. Maybe busting yourself out and living as a fugitive could be an option? (with the help of friends. etc.) Overall the game looks great! Keep up the good work dev team, can't wait to play it.

After you server your sentence you can choose to stay longer!!!! (confirmed by a developer) Ok, so there will be a lot of different activities in the jail you can do and its already been stated by the developers "it is like a whole new game in prison"

Hello everyone! Some of you might remember that I had a thread on the old forum with an Imgur album containing all pictures posted by the developers on Twitter and Facebook. I just wanted to let you all know, both those who might have seen it but had forgot about it, aswell as new people who found it just now that it still exists and is updated as soon as a new picture is released. You can access it here, feel free to use it (or not use it) however you like. Take care!

I'm wondering if you wanted to impersonate someone, let's say if you're going to rob a bank and you terminate and steal the clothes of a bank guard to rob a bank on the inside, will those kind of clothing drop? I understand personal clothing won't drop, but what about clothing for jobs or anything that's not given? Thanks, Idka

so i know someone already asked about what kind of smart phones we're going to have, and i agree with them that having different smart phones or being able to choose the os that you like more would be great... also smart flip phones like in japan maybe? possibly? too weeby, okay. just drop kick that idea. my actual question//suggestion is the features that a phone can do. will people have their own unique number or some sort of idea that can be used for texting or calling people? will you be able to call or text a person if you have them in your address book? would the two then be forced to be in the same server in order to call or text? i would think of texting as like private messaging. i get that you can call for authorities, but will those be the only people you can call or could you call your friends? i think if you're making a call or typing a text your character should do some animation like you're calling or texting(depending on which one you're doing). then i understand facefile is facebook, but will facefile be used as a sort of character look up system? like if you have a name for a character will you be taken to their profile and be able to add them to your friends from there or is there going to be a requirement of meeting in game to add people? will phones have little game you can play, and will these games be ones made by the staff or will there be a sort of coding language in game that a person could use to make a game and make money that way? or even like every month or something have a poll with a bunch of different games made by the community, and whichever one gets the most votes will be added to the game. would we be able to choose which games we had on our phones and which we don't want to have?

*Rosso checks his phone while he watches the three truck leave the driveway of the hanger. He puts his phone back into his pocket, grabs his keys, and gets into his car. He reaches over and places his coat on the passengers seat before starting the car and begins leaving the hanger.* "Jesus, its really coming down. I can barely see" *whispers to himself* *Rosso reaches over to turn the windshield wipers on but before he can, out of the corner of his eye he sees a man come into view in front of his vehicle. He hits on his brakes and comes to a skidding halt. Looking up he sees a man in nothing but a tee and jeans. Rosso lets down his window and calls out to the man* "Hey, what the hell are you doing out here. Its almost ten, its like forty outside and it's pouring... go home!" *Rosso lets up the window, waits for the man to pass by, and then gently eases out of the shipyard entrance and starts to head home* ((Next day, since everyone seems to be on the next day)) *Rosso wakes up and rolls over to check the time.* "Eight forty four, hmm" *He walks over to the edge of the bedroom and steps out onto the balcony and takes a deep breathe in before leaning over and resting both arms on the railing. Down on his pajama pants he feels a little tug and looks down to see his pup playing tug-of-war with his pants leg.* "Hey hey hey, why you got to be so destructive? Its to early to be restless." *He smiles and picks the little pup up* "Jeez your getting too big for this, lets go get a bite" *Rosso puts the pup down on his bed and goes into the bathroom to changes into dark blue jeans and a white collared polo. He comes out and gabs his phone, wallet, glasses and then snaps his fingers to signal the pup to follow. He gets downstairs into the garage and walk over to a table with a wooden bowl full of car keys. Looking down at the pup and sighs* "Alright its your turn" *He picks up the pup and sets it on the table next to the bowl of keys. The pup goes face first into the bowl and pulls out Ferrari keys in its jaws. Rosso puts out his hand and the pup puts the keys in his hand* "The 488 huh? You just like the convertible top." *He grabs the pup and walks over to the white 488 Spyder and sets the pup in the passenger seat. He starts the car, opens the garage and gate, and takes off down the road towards the diner.*

*WARNING, PROBABLY BORING AS HELL* *Fionn walked across the deck of the 'Glamour', a 12 year old fishing vessel, to the railings on the side one the ship. He was pale, tall and muscular. His eyes were a light green, so light they were nearly gray. His hair was a dark brown, nearly black, messy and curly. He pulled his pouch of tobacco from the pockets of his oilskins and effortlessly rolled a cigarette. He placed it between his lips, lit it and took a deep breath. He looked out onto the sea and towards the approaching land. His new home-to-be.* I'd been working on this shithole of a boat for 2 months to get here. Most people would have flown over as soon as they got their VISA but I knew I could get there and earn a bit of scratch while doing it. 2 months later and here I was. I began rolling another cigarette. I placed the finished product behind my ear, put the pouch away and enjoyed the peace. It was a beautiful day and the sounds of the sea were relaxing. "Hey, man", a voice came from behind me. Without looking around I took the cigarette from my ear and held it out. The person took it and joined me at the railing. Mattie Ferguson was tall. Really tall. He made me look miniscule beside him. He was black, bald and had soft baby blue eyes. A kind man who was easy to be around, even when nothing was being said. We stood together without speaking and watched the sea. When we'd both finished our cigarette he turned to me. He gestured towards the land, significantly closer now, and broke the silence. "So this is your stop?" "Yup", I put an emphasis on the 'P', making a popping noise. "Last time I saw a view this good we were sailing away from Ireland. Makes me miss home a bit." It was true. I love my homeland but I just had to get away. This place was a new opportunity. I'd originally moved out to New York but after 2 years of running with the wrong people I returned home. 6 months later and I was saying goodbye again. I didn't know what I'd do once I landed but I was determined to make it work. "Got work lined up?", Mattie asked. He was concerned, I could tell. We'd grown close on this trip. Everyone else on the boat seemed to be out to get us and the skipper was a bastard. "Not yet but I never was the planning type. I'll wing it. I'm sure I'll find something in construction to keep me busy for a few weeks until I get something more permanent. Anyway, the money from this trip ought to be enough to get me settled." "Well first thing we're doing when we land is getting a beer. We're only stopping for one night so it'll be our last drink together. And our first. Fuck, that's kind of sad.", Mattie continued like this until we pulled up into port. I didn't mind, his ramblings were entertaining. An hour later we docked in port. An hour later I was off the boat and onto dry land. I had my one bag full of belongings and my paycheck. Mattie had to help unload the boat so he said he'd catch up with me in a few hours. I'd changed out of my oilskins into a pair of jeans and a casual shirt with the sleeves rolled up. I walked through the docks and immediately recognised similar behaviour to what I'd experienced on the docks of New York. Shady deals hiding in plain sight, dock workers turning a blind eye and too many guys too well dressed to be dock workers patrolling warehouses and boats. The whole place stunk of money. It made me nervous. New York started out the same. I just wanted to make an honest living but it just spiraled out of control. I kept my head down and walked faster.

Hmm, alright, that makes sense. Well I'd like to back prior as I read that the price may be increased, and in the effort of saving money I want to back now. I understand, it makes sense that it'd be hard to issue refunds both morally and in practicality. I may probably still get it though despite this.

*Rosso stands up and puts both hands down on the table* "I believe I do. These little motherfuckers have burned down some of my stock houses around town with some very expensive vehicles inside. I haven't had the time to track them down and get this all a... sorted out.... yet but yeah, I'd say they have been a pretty big pea in my mattress but, enough of that. The vehicles... that's my business and that's what I'm here for, we can discuss the bikers later." *Rosso walks over to a keypad and opens up a garage door revealing six cargo crates* "Your dad is really good at getting these vehicles for me and especially after the clusterfuck of a mess last deal was he has promised something extra." *Rosso reaches into his pocket and pulls out a list with all six cars and their prices. He walks over and sets it on the table in front of Shenji* List: Mclaren P1 GTR - $3,510,000 Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita $4,825,000 Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio - $3,000,000 Pagani Huayra BC - $2,750,000 Ferrari Laferrari FXX K - $2,900,000 Ferrari F60 America - $2,515,000 Sub Total: $19,500,000 "These are the cars I requested and those are the cars I expect in the containers. And this time hopefully there aren't any vehicle tracking devices in these because I can't have people coming after me trying to reclaim their "misplaced" cars. *sighs and takes a breadth* And if all this is so, there is twenty million dollars in gold bars in this suitcase waiting for you and your dad. Are we at an understanding here?"

Sit down for a minute and consider the complexities of running/owning a server for Identity. We're talking about putting into place all the systems you'd need for a fully functioning US State IF (note the big if there) you want to take advantage of everything this game will offer. So a political system, all your emergency services.... Fire, Medical & Police, a functioning judicial system, prison service etc etc.....think about it, it's mind boggling. The scope for this game is enormous, huge, beyond anything we've seen to date. Or....you can rent a server and let people run around shooting each other. I know which one I'm aiming for.

@DanTheMan007 I made all his black text into white so it's readable. "A duel can only be challenged by the insulted party. therefore if a gentleman insults another member he cannot simply duel them with the intention of hurting them with the aim of starting a feud. Both parties must appoint a "second". this must be a trusted neutral party who shall try and end the dispute without the exchange of shots or blows. If a challenge is declared it must be through the seconds rather than their principals(being the duellists themselves). If an apology is made they must inform their principle and try and resolve the issue or quarrel. If all fails and the duel is to be, the challenged party shall have the liberty to pick the weapons, place, time, and if using pistols how many paces shall be taken. weapons must be within reason. canes and pistols of high calibre eg, desert eagle or revolver would be used as duelling weapons due to their heavy recoil and high calibre.A cane or blade duel should be fought until first blood or satisfaction, satisfaction is defined as the challenged party apologising or explaining away his insult and then followed by the challenger apologising for his retort and challenge to arms. A cane duel must be stopped after 5 minutes of fencing if neither party is harmed and the seconds shall then ask the men if they are satisfied or if they wish to explain their reasoning for insult or apologise. If neither parties are satisfied they may continue for another round ending with the same procedure. If the duel surpasses 3 rounds without injury this is dishonourable and somewhat ridiculous and must be stopped and if the parties are dissatisfied they may change their weapon of choice (this time the challenger must choose). or they may reschedule another duel for a later date that must be within the next 3 days. If neither party are injured in the second duel the quarrel must be declared over and the men will be told to argue no more of the matter. A sword duel must be stopped as soon as the first injury is made.Dress code: Duellists should not wear jackets or ties. hats are also not advisable. they should wear either a shirt(long sleeve preferably or sleeves rolled down) or they may choose to wear a waistcoat.Pistol duels should be governed seriously and strictly by the seconds (who must have their own weapons incise a scuffle breaks out of someone cheats). The seconds must load the pistols for their principals and then proceed to make the duellists stand the set amount of paces apart. they must then aim their pistols and on a signal they will have 3 seconds to fire their shots(misfires count as shots, strictly not "dummy" firing. which means purposefully missing). after one exchange of shots the procedure at the end of a fencing round will be given. A chance to be satisfied or apologise. if not, they may proceed again for another 3 rounds. If the duel surpasses 3 rounds it will be declared over. If seconds disagree with each other and resort to exchanging shots or blows it must be at the same time as their principals and at the same distance. Seconds however, should try to remain neutral." All credit goes to DanTheMan007 for writing this. If you are going to put a like on something, put it on his post and not mine

Yesterday afternoon, for another Identity Insider, we've released a video detailing the workings of player housing in Identity and what it has to offer at our present point in development. This gives you a good idea of the level of fidelity we're going for in all of our key systems, and more videos will follow as we continue. Housing was chosen for our first video as our initial focus in development is for features present in the upcoming Town Square module. If you haven't already seen the video, check it out above. Housing as you've seen in the video is an excellent place to hang out with friends, but it has a lot of good practical uses, too! First, housing is the primary storage location for items you've collected. Whether it's a bookshelf full of books, a gun-rack with wall-mounted guns, or a crate full of junk, it's sort of like a bank for tangible stuff. Housing is also valuable for moderate crafting, too. Some advanced recipes might require a factory, but a lot of stuff can be created at your home using special crafting tables. A hydroponics table can even be used to grow small-scale plants, legal or otherwise!

To answer a few of the questions here, there is a large variety of standard food items you'll find in cafes and restaurants, as well as player-made food. Different sorts of food and drink will "fill" you up more than others and faster. Some may even have side-effects. Generally, good player-created food will be the most efficient for consumption. You'll also be able to create your own bars, cafes and restaurants. I'm not sure how lucrative they'll be to own, but a player food-place could turn into a good social point. There will be three places in the Town square module that you can sample food and alcohol: there's a bar/lounge in the hotel, a cafe as well as the cinema. As for the questions concerning a hunger mechanic, there is such a system although you can't die from starvation. There will be some penalties, though. Food consumption won't be forced upon you enough to be an annoyance, but you'll want to grab a bite here and there.

Today we publish the first Identity Insider update, bringing you detailed information about key systems in Identity. Our website has expanded with a small page detailing corporations and their classes, also available below: Corporations in Identity You've made a lot of cash working odd jobs, or maybe even the odd less-than-legal task; now that you've had a taste of success, it's time to forge an empire. Corporations will allow the successful with a little extra cash to become driving forces in Identity's dynamic economy. Corporations are organizations similar to, but separate from, gangs and other social structures. They have the added ability of owning assets and issuing work orders to their real-player employees. Some assets, such as the largest cargo trucks, are available only to corporations. Once formed, the corporation is assigned a telephone number for public contact and the director (owner) can build a logo using an in-game design tool. It's then time to hire a staff and get to work. Classes of Corporations Delivery Delivery corporations can buy large vehicles for big hauls, vehicles not available to the general public. While any player can deliver goods in vehicles such as vans, to get the big-bucks you'll need to join a corporation. Legal Let's face it, crimes happen and criminals are going to be arrested. They'll need someone on the outside to convince the jury that they did nothing wrong. This is where legal corporations come into play, and their services aren't always cheap. Transportation People need to get from point A to point B and they don't always have the means to do that themselves. Transportation corporations own special vehicle assets including taxis and more, helping those in need get where they need to be. Manufacturing From the shoes on your feet to the sofa under your seat, almost everything in Identity is built and crafted by other players. Manufacturing corporations give their employees access to a wider variety of constructables and resources, for a cut of the profits. Always Expanding As with most things in Identity, we at Asylum will constantly be expanding this system adding new classes of corporations and building on those already available. Identity's release is only the beginning. If you have any ideas for a well-suited corporation class, let us know on the forums.

If time is 45 minutes max: Jailbreaks would almost never be possible with such a short amount of time. It often takes 30+ minutes just to prepare a strategy, gear up, and gather the appropriate intel assuming there are no delays and you're not rushing into things (this is from experience on ArmA 3 Life). This gives us very little time to enjoy the full prison experience, some people want to take it all in not blow through it all and chow down faster than a speeding bullet.. Enjoy your experience. If time is above 45 minutes (3 hour max jail sentence): This makes not getting caught much more thrilling in my opinion, sure a lot of people are like "but then if I do a crime I have to sit in jail and do nothing for hours!" but you do realize that's only if you get caught? Also I imagine you have to do a hell of a lot of crimes to receive a maximum jail sentence. I, personally someone who's more interested in hardcore role-play rather than an arcady GTA experience would prefer a longer jail sentence just for the sake of role-play. I want to be part of the whole role-playing experience, I don't want to run around the streets and just commit constant crime after crime not carring about that 45 minute maximum jail sentence. If you're a real criminal and know what you're doing, you shouldn't get caught. Honestly.. I imagine the official servers want something for everyone so I imagine there will be versions of official servers that are more arcady while there are versions that are much more hardcore with longer jail sentences and such; Regardless of that, I imagine there will be plenty more private servers and something for everyone. It won't all be the same, so if you want that chance at a longer jail sentence then trust me there will be servers out there for you just with that in mind focusing on the hardcore aspects of role-play.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) 1. How are Kickstarter backers different from website backers? There is only one difference between backer rewards for the Kickstarter and website. Kickstarter backers will receive a unique in-game hat with the Kickstarter logo. Website backers receive a hat with the Identity logo. No new content in the future will ever display either of these logos. 2. Many people are confused on what the game is about. Would you mind telling us what your vision for the game is? Is the game more about Cops vs Robbers, or a balance between all the available paths? Identity is a cops and robbers game at heart, but it is a life simulator in so many other ways. We’re catering to role-play in a way that is possibly the first of its kind. Players have the freedom to pursue careers that will impact the player economy in their own unique way. Become a taxi driver, deliver goods to player-owned businesses, fight fires, save lives, argue a case in criminal court, or just hold out your hand and beg for money. Find, or steal your ‘identity’! 3. What can you tell us about the world? World size? Player limit? We anticipate that the playable world size will be 200 square kilometers, or 77 square miles in comparison. This means that the whole map is 14 km wide, and would take about an hour and a half to walk across. We hope to support up to 300 players (or more!) per server. 4. Can you expand on the professions? We know there will be cops, but what types of jobs will be available for civilians? Will they be able to create their own businesses? Create their own items? etc. Also, Medics and Firefighters? Players can choose from a wide range of professions, including the ability to become a Firefighter, EMT, Taxi Driver, Farmer, Bounty Hunter, Fisherman, Logger, Miner, Delivery Driver and even a business entrepreneur. The options available to you as a player get more specific than this even, but we aren’t yet ready to expand on the full list. The direction of development is prone to change, and we don’t want to promise anything that might change down the pipeline. Business ownership allows players to own factories and small business, giving them control over what items are manufactured and sold. Items created by a factory must be delivered to their destination city where store owners in that area can decide what quantity and type (formal wear, casual, punk outfits, weapons, etc.) they wish to list in their business. Some default items are always available in all stores for when market demand is not met. 5. How will death be handled? When a player dies, some items such as the money the player is carrying at that time, will be dropped on the ground and will become accessible to anyone in the area that wishes to take it. Clothing items will never be dropped. We have decided that a player’s character appearance in a social game like Identity is important. You will always look the way you decide your character to look. If the player is not resusitated by an EMT or teammate, the player is then prompted to respawn at the location of their last sync (house, apartment, city) Private servers have some control over what types of items players will drop on death, if any at all. 6. Can you expand on how the housing system will work? Size and availability of apartments and houses? Players can choose to own or rent housing in Identity, while apartments can also be shared with a friend or roommate depending on the size of the property. For instance, two friends, or a married couple can choose to purchase a 2 bedroom apartment where they both can live comfortably with each other. Apartments and houses are fully customizable, allowing players to place furniture and objects anywhere in the room. Home-owners can invite other players into their apartment or house at any time. Players cannot access another players home without an invitation. 7. Will there be any specific safe areas where people can go AFK or sit and socialize without being killed or robbed? There are safe zones within certain types of buildings in Identity. Metal detectors serve to preserve immersion, and will temporarily remove any weapons upon entry, allowing all players in the area to safely relax, socialize and meet new friends. These safe zones are known to us as “Sub-Hubs” or social gathering points that reflect on the lifestyle theme of their environment (Biker Bar, Business club, Bum alley, etc.). While many of these areas can only be accessed by law-abiding citizens, some Sub-Hubs are neutral and can be entered by any player on the map. Few areas are designated gathering points for active criminals looking for the right crime of opportunity, or new friends to help them plan their next heist. 8. How will player identification work in game? Will names appear above players heads? If so, at what distances will they be seen? As our design stands right now, the official servers do display names over heads within certain ranges. Some things like masks and balaclavas can affect this. Moreover, private servers have an option where they can hide names from all players unless greeted. By this I mean you won’t see the name over another player until they perform an emote action, after which you’ll always see their name.

Hello citizens! I'm Motown, and I'm Identity's Community Manager, the person in charge of delivering all of your important ideas and messages to Identity's development team! What's special about my role here is that I'm not just your eyes and ears, I'm also one-half of the founding team for Identity! John Vanderzwet and I set out together to make Identity a reality, and have been involved in every aspect of Identity's development since the very start. That means, through me (and our volunteer moderator staff), you have direct access to the very top of our family tree, and we can influence the design and development of Identity together! You won't get that sort of treatment from many industry CM's! So, If you have ideas that you feel will expand and define Identity for years to come, let me know, and I will make sure it hits the right ears. What a relief it has been to know that so many people have been waiting for a game like Identity for so long. I couldn't be happier to have the opportunity to be the liaison that will connect you with the world of Identity and the wonderful people who make it what it is! We strongly feel that we have a winning formula, and the deepest conviction that we may revolutionize the MMORPG genre with your support! We're going to do a lot of great things together, so it's only fair that you know a little bit about me first! My name is Sean, I'm 27 years old. My best friend is my boss and co-worker, John Vanderzet. I grew up all over the United States where I've developed the hyperactive, happy, and unbiased personality you will come to know me for! I call Ontario, Canada my temporary home while I work on Identity as your Community Manager, interim Art Director and 3D prop artist. I went to college for Video Game Design & Production, but my true passion is interacting with people! I've been a forum moderator for many large and well-known online gaming communities, including a default subreddit of 8 million subscribers on Reddit.com, a volunteer guide of the Followers of Asura in "Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures", an event organizer in "Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa" (Big RG fan btw!), the only English forum moderator of a German FPS called "Parabellum" (Google Translate ftw!), and forum moderator for "Planetside 1", "GamersFirst", "Mortal Online", and a few others I can't even remember, for varying lengths of time! Yep, I get around! But now it's time I get to know a little bit about you too. Create a new topic in this forum, and introduce yourself! We want to know exactly what personalities come out of the the deep, dark, depths of the internet to share our passion for Identity! But be nice!
