    Crowdfunding, Kick Starter, Early Access, Backer, Founder, Etc. Have a certain expectation level that comes with them if you so chose to engage in the process. Many negative Nancy's here seem to ignore that fact, or simply make up their own expectation level when they themselves feel that progression is slow or communication is lax from the developers and studio. If you so chose to engage in said process, you should really follow the the studio and developer announcements early on, as I did and many of you did. Once you feel comfortable with the proposed product and feel reasonably satisfied with what the vision of the end result is, then and only then should you be reaching in your pocket. For some that's the first day for others that is three years down the road. I followed the prospect of Identity for almost three years before I reached into my pocket or even made forum account for that matter. Either way, if you don't go into this with the attitude and mindset that you just threw your money on red number 7 on the roulette table, then you have set yourself up for disappointment. The fact is, these projects are a gamble and if you chose to partake, You own it, it's all on you.

    What is this, reasonable discussion between two people with different views on the internet? thats not allowed! Joking aside, one thing I personally feel about a lot of the refund scares people jump into for many different reasons, is often silly. Its true that you should know what youre getting into before backing the game. That said, its really not *purchasing* the game, its an investment in the development of the game proposed. I have the impression that some do not fully understand this, and jump to think their money is being stolen and they were scammed because they dont have anything yet. Its complete fallacy. Investment inherently means chance of loss, we arent guaranteed that identity will succeed or come out. Things happen and things fail, but if everyone that funded the game in the first place jumped for refunds and bankrupted the project, of course its more likely to fail. Early acces titles have spoiled gamers with "pay now, get it now". Truth be told you end up playing a botched half of a game and get bored and move on long before you have even got what you paid for. This reason alone is why I have a bit more faith in Identity, modules to give us a taste of whats to come without totally squandering what the whole experience should be but in a broken and incomplete state.

    I kind of agree with both you and the topic creator on this one, it is true that you get to complain about certain things. However there are people who are asking for refunds once it gets delayed, and to those it does apply that they need to take their time before pledging because complaining is one thing but asking for a refund on the slightest delay is another. also there are people who have said they committed crimes . My opinion on all of this is, you have some concerns, voice them, that's all fine. You like the idea behind the project, debate whether you will pledge or not. But once you do pledge, don't give up on them at the slightest delay. and if you do ask for a refund and its not given to you right away, don't go spreading lies about asylum.

    Good Communities: 1. Identity, always welcomed people, helped new members out and great people to talk with. 2. Garry's Mod, The community was terrible as a whole but smaller communities were great to join before all the modding started really. I started playing Gmod in 2009 and it was great. The community has got worse as a whole as time has gone on. 3. Rainbow Six Siege, R6s was great at the very beginning but has ever so slowly got more toxic as the years have past. 4. ARK: Survival Evolved 5. Age Of Empires 3 Bad Communities: 1. CS:GO 2. Rust 3. GTA V

    The reasoning for this policy is out of our control, for the most part. It's very difficult for us to manage the process when the Steam key is activated outside of our own systems. We don't have control over your Steam installation, and so the policy must exist this way.

    Hey, you know it is common sense for you to read/ keep yourself updated on policies. They don't need to make announcements as it is up to the users to keep themselves updated with those things as every company usually reserves the right to make changes to the policies without notice.... If you intend on getting a refund, why would you redeem your steam key? That makes zero sense and so you put yourself in that situation.

    Good Eve gents and gals, I want to bring to light a common issue i have seen in games that are offering content for real life currency. Its good to have, but one thing i noticed is that, it could lead to people actually not playing the game to its full potential. Lets be honest here. If i paid for a luxury apartment and not actually grind for one, i would look like a scrub. Its like putting cheat codes in GTA and getting free money / apartments / guns etc. You get my point. I think the paid cosmetics is a bit to early to advertise. I would have liked to see a different way to fund development costs. However, i am a bit understanding of the business move. I think people will get bored if the top looking apartments were bought with real money and not earned in game from hard labor. My goal obviously here is to make a lot of money. I want to experience that feeling of reward when you buy an expensive apartment. Are these apartments going to give an edge in comparison to people having regular apartments? Hopefully @Beach_Ball could answer this. Now, mind you that i understand the funding that this will bring. However, i am not convinced that its effective. Sorry, our opinions are different on the matters. You see, i want the pure enjoyment of finally being able to walk in that smooth upscale apartment after a long grind. Please, don't forget the feeling when you spent the last 3 weeks of your life grinding for an apartment. Finally you get that dopamine rush to your brain of rewarding accomplishment as you walk in it for the first time. Bravo! Anyone remember such nostalgic feeling that we experienced in games like GTA V, WoW , etc ???? I Do. I hope i still can feel such rewarding feeling. *Drops $400 on the game.... I feel like a scrub. What are your thoughts?

    Hey there, unfortunately the cosmetics are there but they don't give an advantage other than giving a home/ some storage. Apartments in the packages are unique designs but you can buy them in game with in game money; however the apartments won't be the same layout as the pledge rewards. Also @Beach_Ball is currently no longer with Asylum as his contract ended recently and he wished to have some time off. We hope he will be back in the future though.

    I suppose there is a lot of people who took this is a purchase rather than investment. I appreciate you two actually talking and explaining now, before it seemed like I was just getting shooed off the thread for disagreeing. Not saying it was you two in particular, but it's nice to have a discussion rather than an argument.

    Nobody is saying you don’t have a right to be annoyed and nobody is saying you don’t have the right to voice your opinions. It’s how those opinions are expressed in this forum that concerns me. There are new potential players that come through this site everyday. For new prospects to read these negative posts and have their minds made up without seeing the polished and finished product, I think is unfair. Voice your opinion, but maybe craft your posts in a fashion that gives a positive twist on constructive criticism without detouring potential players. A successful game title needs as many players as they can get. Assuming that you as a fellow player would want that as well? You know, more populated servers, thus more people to play with. Of course there are going to be those here whose sole intent is to sabotage the entire project, I don’t believe that is the motive for all of the negative comments. It just seems to be the same negative content being posted over and over, with a tone of incessant whining. No matter what you’re always going to have your trolls, and those that just have to win an argument.

    Well I kind of agree but also disagree. You might invest in the idea but change your mind once you see where the project is going, and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Although I do agree, refunding for a delay is pretty dumb. You seem very sensible and level headed, thanks for your opinion.

    It's great when it comes to world design and gameplay, but the community is HORRIBLE. (Aside from certain biker gangs and people who take it seriously.) I think what ruined GTA V's community was its popularity. Popularity = trends | trends = kids that are new to the franchise spreading around the word, causing thousands of kids to purchase the game, and flood the communities with their immature ideals. Most of the kids who play GTA V don't even realize the references, *cough, cough* my profile picture. Not all kids, like my son, are "bad players"; but the majority is. I feel bad for kids who genuinely play games like GTA V and even DarkRP games, because they can't even open their mouths without being mocked by other users.

    If you buy one with irl money you will have an apartment day 1. Everyone in TS will have a studio apartment if they don’t own one to test out customizing them. In the full game if you have no home you will be able to stay at a hotel room until you get your own place.

    Alright everyone. I refrained from spreading negative stuff on here until now. I just checked out the refund policy and noticed that if you redeem your Steam key, you can no longer get a refund. They made no announcement of this until after many already redeemed their key. This basically means they never have to finish the game and your money is now theirs. I HIGHLY suggest everyone in the US to make a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I'm only making this post after being told MULTIPLE times over the past year that I was getting a refund only to never get one. If anyone else has been told their money is being refunded and it hasn't been let me know.

    Pretty much more or less siding with this. I don't think "lost ALL credibility" is accurate, but the blatant theft of art, toxic community with nobody handling it, and more has really put a dent on what this could have ultimately been. I'm still a fairly neutral stance, but, as a game developer myself.........I have to call it like it is even if I'm still HOPING it will turn around. You can be optimistic and still keep your head grounded in reality. I don't think people truly understand that. They're either like lambs to slaughter or are dryly cynical. > .<;;

    I haven't ever really been part of an organized community, aside from Identity. I have been in some communities, but not to the extent I have been in Identity. The worst: Certain Garry's Mod DarkRP communities | tl;dr DarkRP servers are VERY corrupt and stupid. I don't want to call names, but most of the DarkRP servers I have visited have nothing to do with RP at all. Everyone is some fantasy creature or the guy off of Splinter Cell, and if they aren't babbling about memes and breaking rules, they are babbling about buying "vapes" and "hats" from the in-game money they acquired from their mom's credit card. It's utterly disgusting, to me at least, that you can buy your way into moderation. It should be an elected position by admins/developers, not a micro-transaction award; most "moderators" I have seen on DarkRP servers abuse their power. I also don't think micro-transactions should buy you in-game money on DarkRP servers, because noobs get crushed and never come back. I try to RP on DarkRP servers, but I get heckled by cats and get killed by moderators who report me and get me kicked later because I broke a rule that they broke to begin with. You can't even punch someone without a band of millionaires grouping around me, shrieking "RDM, NLR". I kept dying and coming back to my death spot to throw snowballs at someone; it was around Christmas, I was just goofing around. The edgy moderators kicked me for throwing snowballs. I stunsticked an AFK hobo to death, I got a punishment (put in a cage for 30 secs. I told them the murder was an accident.). Moderators take things too seriously on DarkRP servers, and nobody really RPs. The best: IdentityRPG, obviously. I first saw Identity in a video about a year ago. I only joined the forum to ask questions, but when the community welcomed me and made me feel like I was part of a community, not a noob, I decided to stick around, and help answer peoples questions and greet people. The staff, from moderators to developers, are very helpful. The community is very polite, aside from the rare trolls.

    Here's a step by step guide to claiming your Steam key in preparation for Town Square! Step 1: Head over to https://www.identityrpg.com/account/view/profile to view your items. You'll need to have the "Beta Access" item in order to gain access to the Modules. Step 2: Click the "Account" tab on the side and navigate to the "Click To Link" button beside the Steam logo. You'll be given a warning that linking your Identity Account with your Steam Account is a one-time procedure. When you're ready to make the link, click the button to proceed. Step 3: You'll be brought to Steam's website. Log in with the Steam Account you wish to associate with your Identity Account here. Step 4: After logging in with your Steam, return back to your profile page on the Identity website. You should now see a Steam key beside the "Steam Product Key" heading. (Clicking the "Linked" button beside the Steam logo will now bring you to your Steam profile.) Step 5: Take your product key and register it using Steam's "Product Activation" feature. You can find this by launching the Steam client, clicking the "Games" dropdown menu button on the top left corner of your screen, and then by selecting the "Activate a Product on Steam..." option. Step 6: You should then be greeted to an "Activation Successful!" screen, stating that "Identity: Town Square" has been associated with your Steam Account. Please note that Town Square won't appear in your Steam Games Library until we finish making the final few adjustments required to release the Module. Once we complete the final task on our Task Tracker, we'll then be able to make the Module visible.
