  1. Scam

For one, I'm not sure why the title says "Scam", and for two, not sure why people bat an eye about getting inspired by real life locations. I looked up for concept art definition: "Concept art is a form of illustration used to convey an idea for use in films, video games, animation, comic books, or other media before it is put into the final product." And if we look at the definition of concept, I think this one fits the best: "a plan or intention.", there's some other definitions but they don't really apply to this specific case. And last thing I want to say, there's a lot of games that gets their inspiration from real places. And as long as the final product isn't an exact replica, I'm fine with that.
  2. Passport uses

The way it will work is that you will create 3 characters, and you can enter any servers with them. But what happens on Server A stays in Server A and is not transferred to Server B.
  3. Is this game even real?

I mean they have shown a few videos, one set near a farm in the forest, and few streams of Town Square. We want the game, the developers also want the game. I honestly don't know how much time it'll take to release the first module, and I know the game isn't going to be close. Most of the information about the recent drawbacks of Town Square are scattered through the Discord server chat. I admit it's taking longer, way longer than it should and people are wondering why it's taking so long and what was the state of Town Square during the first date they were supposed to release it. I could remind the birth of the son of the lead programmer a couple months ago, lots of polishing and overhauling certain features, server infrastructure, internal testing, bug fixing, etc. And recently they fixed a bug causing the database to crash (UI back end), and were working on wonky elevators (when two players took elevator). They feel sorry for taking so long and owe an apology to everyone. And lately it's been crazy like heck, especially with account support...
  4. Passport uses

Your passport will give you access to the game, it doesn't affect any of your characters. And as said previously, you'll be able to create up to three characters.
  5. Tracker makes no sense? Why is it Taking so long?

It might be ludicrous to you, but it is not for me. Usually one task is assigned to one person. Since I've done programming in college, I can hardly see multiple developers working on the same piece of code at the same time. But in terms of debugging, I think it would make more sense to let the person who wrote the piece of code to find the faulty bit, since he knows best his code. I mean of course you could lend a copy to other developers, but they'd have to spend their time learning that code they didn't write.
  6. Biggest Development Flaws

Okay I'll add my grain of salt in here. Just blindly, like that, with game breaking bugs that would literally cause havoc and people complaining about it. Erm nope. Already they've talked about that inventory bug causing the database to crash, that would be catastrophic to be honest. I know they fixed it and working on some wonky elevators. I get it, you want them to take a break, sit back, and think about it for a moment. And what will the developers and artists do in the mean time? One week wasted wouldn't be good when they're working hard to get Town Square fully working. Also, I understand that they have a lot of artist and not so many coders, and it seems like we're overwhelmed with 3D assets. And I'd definitely love it if they can get their hands on some talented programmers, since those are harder to find than 3D artists. I assume you meant forum. Yeah well most of the little updates are on the Discord, it's just easier to ask around there, and the active members will help you out to answer your questions if you have any. And for toxicity, well it's on both the forum and Discord unfortunately. I totally get it, John is very busy and has a lot on his back. Personally, I think he should focus on delegating his tasks, since it really looks like a burden to be not only programming, but assigning tasks, taking care of business stuff, and he can barely even get some time to work on his insider and dev blog. The team needs a little bit more organization to be honest, and for how long does the public ask for transparency... Public relations... Well I mean we get some information from time to time, when Sean pops in the chat, and poor Brandon, being so busy with account support lately he doesn't even have any time to compile his Twitch clips anymore. And that's the reason why there's a tracker. No dates equals no delays for module one. Also they did assume their mistakes, just take the time to read some of the dev blogs. Although, people still ignore and get stuck on some other key words like "imminent", "soon", but you get the point. The problem is that not a lot of people put themselves in John's shoes. He has a ton of stuff to take care of. In the gaming industry, there will be issues arising one after another. Sometimes you can't help it but you're forced to take more time than expected to rework a feature or fix a bug that slipped somewhere. Oh and hey, look what I just found: I hate to say estimates, because it always seems that they take a little bit more time. They guessed Monday, for the insider blog, then postponed it for Tuesday, then Wednesday. And I've read on the Discord that a few days after the insider blog, you should see the dev blog. Here's the YT link that Beach has shared (VOD) https://youtu.be/mlgWENwsri4?t=47m47s They feel bad for taking so long. But don't forget it's the back end of the user interface. And that's one big important system in the game that needs to work. I know that recently they fixed a bug causing the database to crash, as I've already mentioned in reply to someone else. That thing alone slowed down progression considerably. Their current objective is to fix those elevators. Then we can cross our fingers they don't find anything else. I agree with that. But let's see what causes them to be angry. First thing, it takes more time than they expected. Not everyone is very patient unfortunately. Also the delays, no one likes them, even John doesn't like them. Then the lack of awareness, well let me explain that one a little bit. Sometimes I see people jumping in and simply saying that the game is taking years, why is it not out, and blah blah blah. I'm personally guessing they didn't do any research, or that they didn't get implied in the development. And by implied, I mean by actively looking on the forum or on the Discord, reading what the developers and moderators say, in other words, just basically reading all the little updates (without talking about those assets they keep showing off lol). I bet some people haven't heard that the physical layout of Town Square has been rebuilt three times in the past years, and that they remade character models multiple time, and the user interface was also rebuilt (since they used an obsolete software before). But well, of course there's always those guys that... I think are extreme cases, overly dramatic, really angry, speaks their emotions and doesn't think twice about what they say. Nah nah nah, I'll stop you there. I came here for Identity, not Altis Life. Identity is a cop vs criminal game that will redefine the MMORPG genre. I'm not interested into an heavily modded army game. And let's not talk about how people could abuse it and the amount of toxicity... I personally haven't played it, because I've heard some bad stuff about it. And oof that's one big long reply which took me quite some time to write.
  7. WOW really think little more comp is needed

Yeah the discount system is a little weird. I wouldn't use the gift feature yet.
  8. Tracker makes no sense? Why is it Taking so long?

Here's a screenshot from the Discord: Okay so let's look at it this way. The last task in testing is in UI, under Programming. And you know there's not 10-20 programmers in the team, well there's a lot of artist, but that's another story. Even if they have something like 4 programmers, it doesn't mean it's going to get one task done faster. All it means is that they can spread more tasks to those programmers. In other words, you can't take 9 women to get a baby after one month... Now try to find that little bugger that caused the database to crash. But yeah I do understand it really lacks details, and you'd have to be there on the Discord at the right time to see Motown or some of the moderators give small little updates. Then it gets passed on to active members of the community like me. But yeah programming can be a pain, especially when debugging, then you try to fix it and then find something else that is broken. I don't blame them, it can be a hurdle.
  9. Opinions.

I haven't read the whole thing, but all I can see is ranting, swearing, basically someone who's overly dramatic and that doesn't seem to fully understand game development, especially from a non triple A company with a very very ambitious project. It takes years to make a large full game... I know they haven't been too transparent in terms of public relations, but you know... I seem like I'm still wasting my time just to type this reply so I'll stop now.
  10. New Screenshots (UPDATED)

I'm not sure why it's taking so long, but I know Motown has mentioned about a bug causing a crash in the database. https://i.imgur.com/2NljY1k.png It has been shared on the Discord, please view the image link above. And they don't put any dates since they don't know how long it will take to fix the current bug. Also, people has been very unhappy about the few delays. Is it? I don't think so. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNcJj4C_8ZE
  11. Will there be bitcoin?

Cryptocurrency won't be a thing as far as we know.

  13. So....Turns Out Some People were Wrong

We're still here! I understand some people are just around in the Discord to "troll", they often leave sarcastic and exaggerated remarks. They're not very healthy to be honest, it frustrates me when there's still toxic people around, but what can you do? I'm going to stay, because I know this game is going to be awesome, no matter how long it's going to take for them to release it.
  14. EXPLORATION

It wasn't in the Twitch clips, but in the Extended FAQ 1. What is in game prison like? There are no player prison guards though. The decision for that was mostly just because we couldn't find a way to keep it engaging and fun. We don't want people to be forced to sit and watch other players.
  15. Why's that? And the plan is actually to make it so you can interact with the objects that you would normally interact. They won't be able to make everything on day one, so yeah, a few weeks as previously stated.
  16. Programming and Bugs Please Tell

Cyber was nice and actually said in the Discord what was at least one of the bugs, which was clipping through the elevator and "dying", seems fun lol.
  17. Was the closed beta date confirmed?

I can say a few things for sure. Module one is getting pretty close, I give it a few weeks at the pace it's going but you never know what else might lengthen the waiting period... For module two, it should take much less time than module one obviously (module one is one story of its own). As there's going to be some core aspects of the game implemented, my very rough estimates would be few to several months. For the module three, well that's a different story... They have to build new vehicle physics from scratch (because they won't use the one from the video obviously), and I can't put any estimates for that. For the beta... it's still too far and we're not there yet, few years? We'll see.
  18. Property Rights

Yeah no one can breach inside your home, but someone can still get into your property. I wouldn't advice to shoot them as you'll very likely have to deal with law enforcement. If someone is just innocently walking close to your house to admire it, I wouldn't shoot him. In fact, I wouldn't shoot at anyone...
  19. Instagram fan page

I don't usually put estimates because it does tend to be misleading. But at the pace it's going, I mean it's going well. Few weeks...
  20. Farming?

There will be public and private plots. You can grow crops on the public ones at your own risk, while other players can steal your crops if you don't pay attention to it. The private ones will be player owned, and you'll need to buy them in order to plant anything on them. I'm not sure if you still have to pay a certain monthly fee like houses in order to keep them under your name.
  21. I discussed with someone about screenshots and I thought it would be a nice suggestion to create an album (on Imgur for example) that contains all the screenshots ever posted related to Identity. I know there's already a forum thread, and a Twitter account for that matter, but I just thought that it would be nice to have all the pictures grouped all together.
  22. Identity Theft

It's been discussed before, they won't add things like passport/identity theft, bank account theft (yes there will be heists but it won't affect players), hacking (I know you haven't talked about it but still thought about mentioning it). I'm unsure about the "dark web" thing to be honest. I'll just put a reminder that the developers doesn't want players to have a really unfair experience. But there's still a few things you'll be able to do like attempting to rob a civilian, or even kidnap them (after knocking them).
  23. I know you've mentioned features that'll only be available in the full game. But worry not, Town Square will still have plenty of features to explore. You'll be able to visit some buildings, watch movies, sing at karaoke bar, throw popcorn at others, and some of the stuff that has been already mentioned. Also there will be more stuff as they will update Town Square daily.
  24. New website

Exactly as @Cstove have said, I'll quote the moderator who quoted Beach_Ball about it: Cayn-Yesterday at 6:32 PM "we're still waiting on our payment service provider. We've left them several messages and voicemail yet no response, it would appear that they are the current bottleneck. We can't launch the new shop without it as we've been promising credit card payments forever with the new site." - Beach, today
  25. Task Tracker Not Updated?

I'm a human, just like every single one of us in this thread. You'd think that everyone is going to work their butt off everyday 24-7, that's not how it works. I know they have been working overtime for Town Square, but you have to keep in mind they haven't automated the tracker yet. Also remember that not every developers are working during weekends, hence why it might be possible that there's no significant progress (completed task or anything that needs updating). I'm not better positioned than you, so the amount of posts isn't relevant to my knowledge. I'm just here to discuss and help others when I can.
