If subject (A) is arrested without being read his or her rights, and officer (A) arrests subject (A) on murder charges, What do you do in essence of a defense? What would be the outcome? -Allen Camel
  2. Business System

I know this is an old post, yet it got the coveted "sticky." The business model still works, hopefully soon we should be able to test it in identity. C'mon Motown!
  3. Business System

Hey Guys, I thought I would share with you a little guide I designed a few years ago for businesses in Arma 3 Life. It's a simple business model that worked pretty well. It's more or less an algorithm for any business you choose to make. It allows for your employees to be paid, and will minimize them breaking off for sole profit. It is purposely written so that anyone can understand. --------------- Business Model System This is the business model system for maximum efficiency for any business. This model uses a percentage based pay and is designed to be easily modified and easily implemented. Here is the Key for the following guide: A- Overhead (This is the money you need to cover your expenses) B- Profit (This is the money you make after your initial investment has been covered) C- Employee Payroll (This is the money for you to pay your employees) D- Investors Payroll (This is the money to pay your investors) ----------------- Generally speaking you need to arrange all of your investors payroll and your employee payroll to only come from your profits. It is important to remember what your total investment is, your profit, and your payroll. Be sure that you keep an eye on your finances. This is an example of the business model: Your total Overhead (A) is $1000 You have one investor, who has invested $1000 into your business in exchange for 5% of your profit (B). This places a $20,000 valuation on your company. You have one employee plus yourself. Your employees and investors make 5% of your profits. From 100% of your profit (B), you now owe 10%, which leaves you with 90% of your profit. Your profit is $5000. This means that $250 goes to your investor, $250 goes to your employees. 90% of your profit or $4500 is now left over. You invest $2000 into your Overhead this time. You have the same amount of investors. Your company's valuation is still only $20,000. You have gained another employee plus yourself. You have banked $2500. If your profit from a $1000 investment was $5000, this means you made $6000 from the total investment. In turn you expect to make double because of your investment of $2000. This puts you at a $10,000 profit. 5% of $10,000 is $500. You pay your employees $500 and your investor $500. This leaves you with a total of $9000 profit. This algorithm is a progressive system. You do not have to pay any specific percentage, I was simply explaining the math with the easy percentages. ---------------- Q: Why would someone work for me, if they could make the same amount as me? A: Your employee pays no overhead, he uses your equipment, he uses your services, he uses your resources. He has no risk involved. If he is robbed, it is not his money he is losing. (Or She). Also, your employee will scale with more employees and more profit. Whereas if he were to do it all on his own, he would make the same singular profit without the ability to scale, unless he were to create his own company. (Or She). Not to mention, you could promote the employee to making more of a percentage. Q: Why not split the profits evenly? A: You can do that! Except you do need to take out your next expenses before dividing up the profit. Always cover your next venture. Q: Why bank the money? A: The reason for banking your money is insurance. If you are robbed, or an expensive piece of equipment is lost, stolen, or broken, you need to be able to cover those expenses. You pay yourself, the same amount as you pay your employees. You bank the remainder for upgrades and incidentals. Q: Is this the only system that works? A: Heavens no. There are many different systems that work, this is just an easy one to start with until you get your feet wet. ----------------------- Should you have any questions, or anything you would like to add to this guide (Business Model) please reply and leave a comment.
  4. Police Organization Chart

Hey Guys, I wanted to share with you a Police Organizational structure. The purpose of this guide is to provide you with the tools you need to succeed either through running your own server or running your department. How many times have you seen player governments and player police departments have SOOOO many people just to run a small department? This guide helps circumvent the same struggle with simple organization. This guide uses the Incident Command System, much like the one used in real life by virtually every police department in the United States. The Structure: This Structure identifies the Police Chief as being the top of communication for the department. Notice that no arrows cross without going through the chief first. A Captain from Interdiction has no ability to communicate with the Captain of Traffic without first going through the Chief. In other words, The Captain of Interdiction has no command and control over any other department. Neither do the Captains or LT's of the other departmental functions. This can be used as a chain of command, as well as it can be used as an organizational structure. Break your departments up into 3 groups. The best way to do this is to use: Interdiction, Traffic, and Training. Below these groups can be any of the special functions of those sections. For Example, Interdiction can house a LT for Drug Interdiction, another LT for Firearms Interdiction, and a third LT for Criminal Interdiction. The traffic Captain can have separate sub departments as well such as Motorcycle patrol, walking officers, and armed escorts. The Captain of training can have special weapons training, high angle rescue, and reports. The sky is the limit to which sub-departments you want your officers to have. The point is to organize these departments in their respective places. It allows for communication and it will cut down dramatically on your drama within the department. There is no need for an assistant chief with this system. This is a 1:3 Structure and can easily be expanded into a 1:4-1:7 if needed for department size. Questions? Comments?
  5. Investment System (That Works)

Hello everyone, I am adding yet another guide that I have written in the past that will help you with making stock or business trading. This system has been tested and actually does work with little to no interaction from staff of a server, and has little to do with the actual game economy. This also coincides with my other guide for a business model found here: http://www.identityrpg.com/community/topic/1760-business-system/ ---- Business Stock Market Guide It is the objective of this guide to provide a clear view into business trading. The math is easy in the guide for a reason. This guide allows you to conduct business trading with little to no staff interaction or economic changes to the server. Example: Business A, sets a market value or valuation of $100,000. This means that the company makes $100,000 per in game session. A share of the company is worth .001% of the company in other words 1 dollar, whereas 100 shares of the company is worth 1% and in other words is an investment of $1,000. Should someone invest $1,000 into a single game period the market value of that company goes up to $101,000, this increases the value of the company, but lowers the amount of shares. A smart investor would buy when the company has a large amount of shares and a low cost, and then would sell the shares of that company to make the return OR the investor could collect a percentage from the game period's profits. Investments can carry over to other game sessions. So if "Investor A" was to invest $1,000 or 1% into a company worth $100,000, the market value of the company would increase to $101,000, The next investor that wishes to buy 1% of that company will have to pay $1,010 for the 1% share of the company. "Investor B" Invests $50,000 into the company at the rate of $1,010 per 100 shares of the company. This increases the value of the company to approximately $150,000. "Investor A" Decides to sell his or her 1% of the company for the return of $1,500, and a profit of $500, while the net value of the share only lowers to $1,490. ----------- What makes this a working system is that it requires no staff interaction to setup and use. It only requires the agreement of the businesses involved and of course lawyers and what not. This fuels a market fraud charge. ---------- Should you have any questions, or anything you would like to add to the guide, please leave a comment.
  6. 10-codes (realism)

Hey Guys, Just checking in here. I have 10 years of fire and EMS experience IRL. I have noticed on some Arma 3 Servers that community police like to use 10 codes. If you are going to go for realism on your server, I would like to tell you that the FCC here in America does not support the use of 10-codes for the very reason that it confuses people. If you were to encounter another police officer, fire department, or EMS unit from a neighboring town their 10 codes may not reflect your 10 codes. That is why the FCC tells you to use plain English. The reason for the 10-codes was for quick radio traffic, and also so that people in scanner land wouldn't know what was happening. Anyway, food for thought.
  7. Freight Brokerage

I have searched through the forums and I have seen a lot of talk about transportation jobs. Trucking is a huge genre of awesome, people love trucking simulators. What they take for granted is the person that actually brokers the load or freight going from one place or another. I am a CDL Carrier, I am also a CDL Instructor. What people focus on mainly in transportation is the physical carrying of the freight but never actually the office jobs associated with how the load is picked up, and how the load is received. What I propose is a Logistics Broker career. This individual will find, sell and assign loads to truckers in need of finding a load from one point to another. This person, much like in real life, gains a percentage (Usually 10%) of each load he or she assigns to a driver. This is one of those idle jobs but it can be quite lucrative. There are essentially 3 stages to becoming a full broker: 1. Hire on with a trucking company - as a trainee - Or a Dispatcher (Dispatchers are not paid percentage of loads, rather an hourly rate. They work for the Broker and the Company.) 2. Become an Agent - this person works for the Broker (Think Assistant or Secretary) 3. Obtain a Broker License - Broker loads on your own. Seeing is that most of the careers are already leveled careers with different job titles, this should be easy to do. Now, I will stop explaining and open it up for questions. Ask Me Anything, I am a Trucker.
  8. Hey Guys, Here are a few tips for you if you are looking to create political parties. First start with something you know and adapt game knowledge to it. Usually you can do this by watching movies and a youtube series on politics. Politics for Dummies is a great place to start. Second, Do NOT over expand. A lot of people that try to create political parties want to expand wider and wider. This is a bad thing to do. Start Small. Keep in the back of your mind that politics in games never work out for the best interest of everyone. Not to mention they often fail and fall apart before they can do any good. Third, choose something easy to work with. Do not worry with cabinet members, or secretaries. Keep it small to a number of 3 or less people at the start. Fourth, Do NOT give up. The first moment you let someone else take the reigns of your creation, you have lost the war. Your dream will be gone, and there will be no resurrection of your dead political party. ---------- Q: What political parties work? A: Dictatorships. Explanation: Dictatorships work because they do not rely on other people who can often times be unreliable. Q: Should we attempt an American Congress (American Politics)? A: No. Not only will you fail miserably, you will establish hate for your character. Q: What about any other country's government? A: The only government system I have known to work was a British Parliament. It worked for about 8 months on an Altis Server (It has since shutdown, ie, could not find the name) Essentially they built a voting system for law changes in the game. It worked for a long time considering the nature of servers. Q: Where have you seen a Dictatorship work? A: I've seen Staff on many servers become dictators, or were already dictators. Dictatorship establishes discipline and respect. It's only when you shy back from the dictatorship and allow for more democracy when it fails, and your community fails. Pick something and stick with it. Q: From where do you have your knowledge? A: Come on guys.. Let's face it, we're all Arma 3 life aficionados. All of my knowledge comes from failed systems and servers.
  9. Language Forums

It might be a good idea to have an announcement section in the forum for some of the other languages in the community. If the website has google analytics you can see the visits from other countries, find people from those countries who speak English and have them translate or google translate the announcements. There have been a few instances of language barriers, these barriers need to be overcome. I think it would greatly help the community and possibly bring more activity to the forums.
  10. Official Civil Argument Post

Hey Guys, Let's do this, let's argue about things in this post rather than arguing on information threads.. There are 3 rules. 1. Keep it civil (no cursing each other). 2. Make it constructive (Make rational responses and statements). 3. Subject your response before responding (or Quote) ---------- I'll start. I am tired of seeing people have childish fights on the forum. I would rather them be on their own separate threads. It would be better for us to get all of our feelings out in a safe thread as not to alienate new members of the forum with our comments.
  11. Pinboard

Oh ok.. Yea sounds like a good idea.. I would imagine many community websites will have a board like that.
  12. IDEA

Never Limit Role Play.. Words to live by.
  13. Pinboard

Is this like a junk closet? I think I am missing something, what is a Pinboard? Can you elaborate? Is it like a bargain bin?
  14. Official Civil Argument Post

He didn't read the rules of the post here.. Have you ever been to Berlin, @WillyVortex? They kind of ignore that the years 1929-1948 exist in Germany.. They treat it like they were all on vacation. I will admit that the Reichstag was pretty cool. Not to mention, my parents took me to the Neuschwanstein Castle when I finished my masters in history. It's a great vacation if you ever find yourself wanting to see that kind of stuff.. Don't worry about him. He's proven to me that he is just a normal angry kid with a lot to prove.
  15. Official Civil Argument Post

You didn't read the instructions of this post. So your argument is invalid. @HairyGrenade can you please remove his reply according to Rule #1.
  16. You visited me.. I followed you.. This is either the birth of a friendship or birth of a double homicide.

Your laugh entertains the idea of an expansion of our friendship, or an expansion from double homicide to triple homicide.

  17. Official Civil Argument Post

@Shimozukachi The physical money was given to kids to play with because they were cheaper than toys. I would prefer you to actually read what I post versus read bits and pieces of it, then start with your arrogant tone. You are very frustrating. I take into account this may be a language barrier thing, yet I cannot help but to believe you are the hugest troll in this community.
  18. Salary, income, work, job

This will be going into the argument thread

Not if satiation is dialed back enough. I hate satiation games, it makes me feel like I am playing a diabetic. If I wanted to play a diabetic I would log out.
  20. Hi

    >< Really dude?
  21. Salary, income, work, job

I wasn't in anyway comparing the USA to Germany. I was giving an example of economic ruin. Your economy is far better now. I will note that the Deutsche Mark was never used as a toy. The DM wasn't used until 1948. We also suffered a great depression at the same time, however our economy wasn't relevant to your previous post. I won't dispute your claim to greatness, Germany is a great country, it's known for many things, Oktoberfest, Beethoven, Bach, The elephant in the room. I do not appreciate the direct attack against the USA for our obesity. No one here directed anything negative against your country.
  22. Local Government Org Chart

Hey guys. Just sharing with you an example of what a local government could look like. Now what we are looking at in the photo is a basic political structure backing the various public services. This is based at the local government level, better known as a town or city. The police and EMS / Fire, are not elected officials in this Org Chart, just examples for all intents and purposes. The department of transportation would be a local DOT, specifically charged with the task of overseeing transportation matters. It should fall under commerce. Open for Questions.
  23. Local Government Org Chart

I'm not sure. We could possibly get updates from the devs, share them and hype up a release, it would sure to make some waves.
