So I was thinking about different jobs there could be and as I thought more about it, I came to this conclusion:
Sure we could have a list of jobs like any other game might have, but how do you make it more specific? more unique?
Herein lies my idea:
Make different jobs have different content available for players to use.
For example, say there is a barbershop or hairsalon job. The only way players could change their hairstyles and change their hair types is to purchase services by a player who's job or business is a barbershop or hairsalon. The player who runs a barbershop or hairsalon as job would gain a job tree that makes it so they can provide haircuts and hair styles to the rest of the population.
Just my first thought on it. The barbershop was just a simple example... but this idea could be applied to many different jobs and make them more relevant and useful to players that don't want to just stand and chop wood or something... nothing wrong with that, but variety is nice
What does everyone else think?

While the two are extremely similar, the USA is not a Democratic Republic, but rather a Constitutional Republic. If you want a Democratic Republic, go to the Congo. You could call it a Democratic Republic and get away with it, but the term is a bit too broad for our system of government.
@dragon_12dk You are correct. I am going to edit that post.

SWAT
in The Precinct
On 12/8/2016 at 3:22 PM, Officer_P said:Can we get a clarification on the SWAT system? How and when will they be called? Will they have to wait until they are called? Can an officer be a patrol officer and swat at the same time?
@Officer_P I have not seen any news come out yet about SWAT specifically.
In real life many agencies employ officers and senior officers that are a part of normal patrol operations and when a scenario arises that requires a special team like SWAT, those officers and senior officers switch respond to that scenario as SWAT. Many Agencies do not have a full time SWAT team and SWAT members are made up of regular and senior officers that perform normal patrol operations. On 12/9/2016 at 10:37 PM, Samuel_Tsai said:First the town center module will be worked out. After that developers will start working more on police related features.
For now we have too wait and see. However I expect SWAT to be mostly consisting out of LEO experienced people. Due to the fact it's a game I'd also assume you will be able to patrol and once a SWAT call comes in you can respond to it in the correct manner.
@Samuel_Tsai Thanks for that update on the fact that we can expect the devs to work more on police stuff after the town center module.
And I agree that SWAT would and should be made up of regular and senior officers that already perform Patrol duties. On 12/10/2016 at 4:23 PM, Zeus said:I think when there's a bank robbery or a hostage situation that police can't take care of. The players might have illegal ak's and the police at the time might only have hand guns so they have to call in the swat.
@Zeus In real life, police carry on their belt or vest a pistol. They also carry equipment including a shotgun and a rifle in their patrol vehicle for use when certain scenarios arise. SWAT is used on special operations like specialized building entry and clearing, hostage situations, active shooters, etc.
On 12/10/2016 at 4:57 PM, Shadow765 said:When the suspect is heavily armed then I guess you call SWAT?
@Shadow765 When a suspect is heavily armed, you call the police, SWAT will likely be used when a scenario continues to escalate over time and police on scene are unable to end the situation.

Greetings @Herzog,
First of all, I would like to express my interest in joining "The Gentleman's Club."
Second, I am highly impressed with your organization and would like to be so bold as to offer my input and suggestions as in real life I am a corrections officer and I am the current elected treasurer on the board of the corrections association where I work.
Further, I would like to offer my services if you find the need for them. As I said I am currently the treasurer on the board of the corrections association I am a member of currently and I offer that as experience in addition to what I will share below.
I have observed that you have organized "The Gentleman's Club" similar to an association.
Chairman is comparable to the position of President in an association.
Vice Chairman is comparable to the position of Vice President in an association.
Secretary is comparable to the position of Secretary and Treasurer in an association.
Baron is comparable to the position of Secretary and Treasurer in an association.
Duke is comparable to an extra position of Board Member.
Your additional titles are all comparable to the position of Association Membership. All positions on our board are positions that our Association Membership nominate and elect to be on the Association Board.
The purpose of our association is to collect membership dues from our membership of officers monthly.
A portion of those funds is then used to pay our Union dues.
Our bank account grows because we collect dues that are more than our Union requirements. This allows us to pay for different events and functions that the Association hosts for its membership.
Another purpose of the Association Board is to represent membership in cooperation with our union on matters of grievance, discipline, and other concerns. Our Board Members consist of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.
The President hosts all meetings and calls all meetings to order and is the first in charge and the Primary representative of the Association.
The Vice President is the second in charge and would substitute the role of President when the President is unavailable.
The Treasurer maintains the financial account of the Association and records all income, expenses, and costs.
The Secretary maintains written record of all meetings, occurrences, events, and happenings that involve the Association. The Board Members operate based on the Association Constitution and Bylaws.
The Constitution and Bylaws are proposed and created with the involvement of the Association Board and Membership using a voting system.
An example of what the Constitution and Bylaws help facilitate is rules for how to operate, what constitutes a member, the definition and duties of board members, what is required for an official meeting, when and how often meetings occur annually, etc.For example, you include in your post that members will need to maintain a To Be Determined amount of money in their bank accounts in order to be eligible for "The Gentleman's Club." Something like that could be a provision within the Constitution and Bylaws and be voted on by the whole membership.
Further, let me suggest to you this: "The Gentleman's Club" could receive a lot of funds by members donating any amount they want, but I would also recommend that be one option. I would also have a membership fee and you could make this a minimal amount of money or set it higher if you wish... it would be something the whole membership could vote on it even if established by a Constitution and Bylaws. And you can implement record of dues so when the game comes out the membership you have established prior to the games release would know what they owe to that date and if you have serious and loyal members they will be happy to pay what has so far accrued for being allowed an "early" membership status which includes the discount if you wish and members that don't follow through with the commitment would then be kicked out of the club when the game starts and don't follow through with paying towards their membership.
Example: Membership dues are set at $50.00 and start on the date a potential member expresses interest in joining the club. Membership dues are established to be recurrent monthly. So every month each member would deposit $50.00 into the Club's Financial Account. If you have 25 members pay $50.00 each month for 12 months that would be:
$1,250 per month and $15,000 a year if you had 25 members paying membership dues each month for 12 months. The Constitution and Bylaws could establish what the collected funds for the Association could be authorized to be used for.
Examples that Funds could be used for are:
Perks and Entitlements. (Club House Access, etc)
Legal representation for members.
Investment opportunities.
Entrepreneurial Investments.
Events and Functions. (Food & Drinks, Unexpected expenses)
Official Association ObligationsThe possibilities are potentially endless and everyone gets sit back, relax, and have some fun.
Let me know what you think and if you would like to talk further.

On 12/3/2016 at 8:36 AM, Samuel_Tsai said:There is no realistic way a ''sheriff'' gets elected for a police department. Sheriffs are the top people in the Sheriffs Department and not a Police Department. It might be totally possibly that there will be a sheriffs department with their jurisdiction in the off city areas.
If you want to run for a position in a police department you'll have to run for Chief of Police my friend.
@Samuel_Tsai Police Departments only have jurisdiction within their city's limits. The Sheriff's Department has jurisdiction over the entire county including the city's within their county of jurisdiction. Police Departments have appointed Police Chiefs or Commissioners in charge of their agency where as the Sheriff is an elected county official. If you like, please refer to my post about "Law Enforcement Ideas & Suggestions" for more information that I share and suggest.
On 12/8/2016 at 7:59 PM, SharpShep said:Ah the elected sheriff one of histories most idiotic idea because why should a highly skilled person be hired for a job.....When you can have a literal popularity contest.
@SharpShep While I can agree that a popularity contest could place the most unqualified person in office for a position, the majority, if not all, agencies, require a large amount of law enforcement experience, history, background and usually administrative experience and/or education to qualify for the elected position of Sheriff. The Advantage to having an elected official in such a position is that they can be elected OUT of office thus providing a huge level of control by the citizenry of the related county. If a person got elected as sheriff that did not show qualifications or ended up being completely incompetent for the position, the citizenry could get rid of him. That is not true for a police chief or police commissioner because that is an appointed position in most cases and the public do not have nearly as much weight when it comes to appointed positions.

Jobs & How they function
in Other Careers
Posted
@ST_Helios You have some good ideas and good points being made.
My idea was that the for certain aspects of player customization, different options could be specific to, for example: a barber. A player would have to go to a barber for different hairstyle customization options cause the barber, as part of his job tree, would provide the options players could choose from for their customization. It all has to do with roleplaying different jobs and careers and the barber is only a simple example.
I hope that helps explain the concept of my idea.
