DrGe! Good to see you again! Welcome!
  2. CrazyToby Introduction

Welcome CrazyToby! I too love ArmA 3 Altis Life and Unreal Engine 4, and use it daily! I can't wait to be able to play Identity with people other than myself!
  3. Hello from Val

Welcome back VAL! I remember you from the early days of Asylum's Altis Life! You were quite reputable and left a lasting impression on players back then! It's good to see you still interested in Identity!
  4. actual roleplay/rp in other games

I've played a lot of RP mods in games like Garry's Mod, Half-Life 2 Mutliplayer, and ArmA 3. There are Altis Life servers in ArmA 3, such as ArmA 3 Life, AltisLife.co.uk, and Critical Gaming that take roleplay very seriously, and have strict rules that they enforce, but also require a grueling application and interview process to enter. However, Asylum's Altis Life, which is what most people experience when they play Altis Life for the first time, is branded as 'Lite-RP' community where RP rules are not heavily enforced, but encouraged instead through gameplay mechanics. We realized early on that we weren't going to be able to compete with modded servers who have a greater control of immersion. When given the choice between a modded Altis Life community like A3L, and vanilla Altis Life community like Asylum, we simply can't compete with the server that can have real police cars, uniforms, cities, and interior spaces. So, we opted instead for PVP and gang warfare, much like Wasteland, or King of the Hill, where players can simply jump in and go. Identity aims to be a bit different, but of course now, we run into a different challenge. Now we can control immersion and user experience, but we can't control the population on official servers, which we predict will be too large a crowd to manage with such a small team, unless we hire GM staff , or volunteers who play the role of rule enforces (something we plan to experiment with). So we must rely on private server communities to offer that greater level of control where strict rules can be applied. Private servers will share the same server browser space as official servers, and it is our hope that from doing this, people will not distinguish one from the other, in order to find a private community where they can roleplay comfortably within a ruleset that they agree with.
  5. What is your Account ID?

    Mine is 2.
  6. Hello!!

    Welcome Proconsul!
  7. Hello people!

Welcome Doxflare! You're going to love the writing feature in Identity, where players will potentially be able to write stories and distribute them to other players through in-game bookstores!
  8. Hello all! It's your friendly neighborhood Rogue;)

Welcome Rogue! Good luck on your military adventure coming this August! I love airsoft and paintball! I've had my fair share of welts across my body from playing over the years!
  9. Im Back!

Welcome back Chaos! Thanks for joining us again! Those old forums sure were ugly, weren't they?
  10. Joining the police force

Joining the police force on official servers will be largely automated. We anticipate that there will be some training tutorial and a quiz at the end that you will be required to complete in order to play as a cop. Private servers will have much more control over this, and can choose to white-list specific individuals rather than allow the automated system to decide.
  11. You will choose your in-game name when creating your character for the first time after downloading the game client when it ultimately launches. All of that will be handled in-game!
  12. Not really sure on that. Maybe I can get Paratus to change it, but keep in mind that the website username is only for login purposes. You won't be required to use that Username as your display name in Identity or on the forums. It won't be publicly visible to anyone!
  13. The World

You will see a UI element pop up on your HUD indicating a change in stress based on where you are on map, and it will fade away as long as no additional changes occur to your stress level. Just something really simple to help you know which areas are safer than others.
  14. If you are a $25 backer, or more, you are already invited to the Town Square! You will receive your invitation to download the client when it launches! The only difference is that we've increased the price for future customers. The reward tiers are still the same!
  15. The World

We will have a stress feature in place that we've built to discourage greifing and prevent random killings on official servers (private communities can disable this). It's based around stress, and is only a factor in specific parts of the world in spots within major cities. When your characters stress levels are high, you will be vulnerable to attack, and when they are low, you will be less affected by damage. It can still happen, and you can still be killed in safe areas, but you have a chance to react. Attacking other players in these 'safe' areas will cause your stress level to increase faster than your victims, so you will become vulnerable faster than them, allowing them to retaliate, or run away. Imagine that outside of these areas, having a full stress bar is normal, and inside these safe areas, players are given a buff. Additionally, there are other safe areas where no damage can occur at all, usually inside specific buildings that we call Sub-Hubs, which are meant to be social gathering locations. This is because there are metal detectors placed in the doorways of such buildings that will remove your weapons temporarily while you are inside, but will give you all of your dangerous stuff back as you leave. Some buildings such as banks have metal detectors inside of them, but will allow you to carry your weapons past the metal detector, and will set off the alarm, initiating a bank robbery. Other Sub-Hubs will only allow criminals to enter, and not innocent civilians. The theme of the Sub-hub will match the desired social group that is expected to be there. We've been quiet about this feature in the past because we aren't entirely sure how our community would react to it, but it is an important question, and is subject to change. Feedback is always welcome!
  16. Alright! It may just be a bug. Give us a moment, and we'll try to fix it! Edit: Looks like it worked!
  17. Soon you will see icons representing your pledge rewards next to your forum name which will be publicly visible whenever you post to the forums too! Just link your forum account to your main account, and we'll take care of the rest!
  18. Hello from California

Hello Padrinos! Good to see you on the Identity forums!
  19. Welcome Suben! Thanks for being a fan, and a part of this community! It means a lot to see people already creating accounts here only minutes after we put the site live!
  20. Identity Forum Guidelines Last Edit: July 9th, 2018 Participation in the Official Identity forums constitutes agreement to the following guidelines, which apply to posts, profile information, avatars, signatures, private messaging, and any other content on this site and participation in general. The live nature of discussions in this community makes it difficult for staff to catch every violation of these rules. If you believe that someone has violated our User Guidelines, please send a private message to a member of our volunteer moderation team or staff with a link to the content and a brief description of what you believe is wrong. Please do not respond to a violation personally, as you may aggravate the situation and possibly violate our guidelines yourself. Any content that violates our User Guidelines will be removed. Interpretation of our guidelines is at the discretion of the staff. Please do 1. Report violations of the forum rules. Moderators will quickly review reports and make decisions based on the information you provide. 2. Respect others. Showing respect will encourage others to participate in discussion. 3. Like posts, that you feel contribute useful information to a discussion. 4. Read the rules, so that you do not accidentally receive an infraction or ban. 5. Be constructive. Help others by answering questions, and offer feedback to their ideas. 6. Read before posting. Fully Comprehend the topic of discussion and determine what has already been discussed. 7. Use proper grammar and spelling. Read your post before submitting. Spelling mistakes may attract attention away from the discussion. 8. Search for content related to your questions. There’s a good chance that there may already be an answer to what you are looking for! Please don’t 1. Troll. Trolling does not contribute to meaningful discussion. 2. Spam. Spamming clutters the forum and makes it difficult to find original content. 3. Flame, or attack others. Insults do not contribute to discussion, and will be removed. 4. Repost Deleted Content. Content that was deleted was removed for a reason, even if the reason is unclear. 5. Demonstrate or perpetuate toxic behavior. A user is considered toxic if they repeatedly make defamatory, threatening, insulting, or otherwise hateful remarks toward other users or staff. Please keep language civil when expressing your opinions. 6. Advertise websites or services unrelated to Identity. We do not sell advertising space on the Identity forums. 7. Cross Post. Cross-posting makes it difficult for users using the search function to find relevant information, and may be considered spam. 8. Ask for Likes. Likes are given to those for contributing useful information in a discussion. 9. Abuse reports. Reporting content with blank or inaccurate report descriptions will hinder a moderator's capacity to help. Please report content that is in violation of the rules, and not simply because you personally dislike another user. 10. Engage rule violators. You may accidentally violate these rules yourself by responding to others that you feel aren’t following these guidelines. 11. Make low-effort posts. Contribute useful information to the discussion, and avoid going off-topic. 12. Discuss Politics/Religion. These subjects are sensitive and may offend others. (There is a small place for fantasy politics within Identity's ecosystem. The Governor position will be able to tweak small settings within the game world, and must compete against others for power. The political systems within Identity are simplified and do not accurately reflect the processes involved with political discourse in the real world. Players may implicitly take inspiration from existing candidates or parties, but must not show any connections to real world politics through the use of logos/symbols, names (of existing leaders, existing parties, or of those within recent history), or slogans. By affiliating your party with a real world political faction, you are bringing such politics into discussion and grabbing the attention of those who recognize it. Real world politics typically invoke a strong emotional response in some viewers and can lead to vehement conflicts extremely quickly.) 13. Create multiple accounts. Only one account per person is authorized, so forum users can be easily identified. Avoiding a ban may result in further permanent action. 14. Operate a shared account. Sharing an account with another user will make conversation difficult should any of the account operators share a difference in opinion. Conflicting statements will impede our ability to help assist any single user on a shared account. Due to this, we request that each account is operated by a single, separate user. 15. Create forum posts that mention specific users in the title. Creating a new topic with the title specifically mentioning another user isn’t conducive to group discussion, especially if the targeted user isn’t comfortable responding in an open format. (For example, don’t make posts like “@usernamehere, why is x and not y?”) If you’re asking a question directly to another user, please do so using the inbox function on the forums. 16. Post Personal Information, or post links containing personal information. Sharing information about others can be harmful to their real-life. 17. Use forum features in unintended ways. Asking for likes, or making a game that incorporates the like/follow buttons artificially inflates user forum stats, making it difficult for other users to determine which content or user is contributing popular content to the site. 18. Discuss Moderator or Administrator actions Publicly. There are often reasons why a decision is made by a moderator or administrator that may be unclear to outside-parties, and off-topic discussion about an admin or moderator decision may be disruptive to a conversation. We politely ask that you trust and respect decisions made by staff. If you have an issue with a specific staff member, please report the matter to a Community Manager. 19. Impersonate Asylum Entertainment Staff or Moderators. When users seek assistance from moderators or Asylum staff, they shouldn't need to worry about encountering the possibility of dealing with an impostor. Always heed the official titles for staff roles on both the forums and discord to help avoid confusion. 20. Intentionally Spread False Information. Spreading rumors you know are falsified and portraying them as fact will only complicate Identity's development and serves to derail the actual constructive criticism offered by other users. Even accidentally giving out false information can be dangerous, so please ask a staff member or reference official statements (Dev Blogs for example). 21. Post or link to illegal, dangerous, offensive or NSFW content. Do not engage in activities that include (but are not limited to) the sharing of sexually explicit content, piracy, malicious code execution (viruses, malware, spyware etc.), gore. Please keep posts pertaining to the M-rated content in Identity reasonable. 22. Create or operate an account with the intention of solely boosting or supporting another user's reputation, poll votes, or opinions. We ask that all users contribute to the forums in ways that don't simply perpetuate someone else's particular viewpoint or account statistics. ***Moderators and staff have the final say on all matters. If you would like to report moderator abuse, contact a Community Manager directly. Creating public threads or posts that question or reference administrative decisions or potential administrative decisions is not permitted.*** ***Freedom of speech rights do not extend to privately owned websites, such as this one. These guidelines detail the types of behavior and activities that are allowed here.*** ***We reserve the right to deactivate any account and to edit or remove any content without warning. These guidelines are subject to change at any time without notice.*** ***If you have a question or suggestion about our User Guidelines, please do not hesitate to contact a moderator or admin and we will be glad to help in any way that we can.*** 3bdullah alzmeeeleee 6ree8 jbbbh #7mod mf95
  21. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) 1. How are Kickstarter backers different from website backers? There is only one difference between backer rewards for the Kickstarter and website. Kickstarter backers will receive a unique in-game hat with the Kickstarter logo. Website backers receive a hat with the Identity logo. No new content in the future will ever display either of these logos. 2. Many people are confused on what the game is about. Would you mind telling us what your vision for the game is? Is the game more about Cops vs Robbers, or a balance between all the available paths? Identity is a cops and robbers game at heart, but it is a life simulator in so many other ways. We’re catering to role-play in a way that is possibly the first of its kind. Players have the freedom to pursue careers that will impact the player economy in their own unique way. Become a taxi driver, deliver goods to player-owned businesses, fight fires, save lives, argue a case in criminal court, or just hold out your hand and beg for money. Find, or steal your ‘identity’! 3. What can you tell us about the world? World size? Player limit? We anticipate that the playable world size will be 200 square kilometers, or 77 square miles in comparison. This means that the whole map is 14 km wide, and would take about an hour and a half to walk across. We hope to support up to 300 players (or more!) per server. 4. Can you expand on the professions? We know there will be cops, but what types of jobs will be available for civilians? Will they be able to create their own businesses? Create their own items? etc. Also, Medics and Firefighters? Players can choose from a wide range of professions, including the ability to become a Firefighter, EMT, Taxi Driver, Farmer, Bounty Hunter, Fisherman, Logger, Miner, Delivery Driver and even a business entrepreneur. The options available to you as a player get more specific than this even, but we aren’t yet ready to expand on the full list. The direction of development is prone to change, and we don’t want to promise anything that might change down the pipeline. Business ownership allows players to own factories and small business, giving them control over what items are manufactured and sold. Items created by a factory must be delivered to their destination city where store owners in that area can decide what quantity and type (formal wear, casual, punk outfits, weapons, etc.) they wish to list in their business. Some default items are always available in all stores for when market demand is not met. 5. How will death be handled? When a player dies, some items such as the money the player is carrying at that time, will be dropped on the ground and will become accessible to anyone in the area that wishes to take it. Clothing items will never be dropped. We have decided that a player’s character appearance in a social game like Identity is important. You will always look the way you decide your character to look. If the player is not resusitated by an EMT or teammate, the player is then prompted to respawn at the location of their last sync (house, apartment, city) Private servers have some control over what types of items players will drop on death, if any at all. 6. Can you expand on how the housing system will work? Size and availability of apartments and houses? Players can choose to own or rent housing in Identity, while apartments can also be shared with a friend or roommate depending on the size of the property. For instance, two friends, or a married couple can choose to purchase a 2 bedroom apartment where they both can live comfortably with each other. Apartments and houses are fully customizable, allowing players to place furniture and objects anywhere in the room. Home-owners can invite other players into their apartment or house at any time. Players cannot access another players home without an invitation. 7. Will there be any specific safe areas where people can go AFK or sit and socialize without being killed or robbed? There are safe zones within certain types of buildings in Identity. Metal detectors serve to preserve immersion, and will temporarily remove any weapons upon entry, allowing all players in the area to safely relax, socialize and meet new friends. These safe zones are known to us as “Sub-Hubs” or social gathering points that reflect on the lifestyle theme of their environment (Biker Bar, Business club, Bum alley, etc.). While many of these areas can only be accessed by law-abiding citizens, some Sub-Hubs are neutral and can be entered by any player on the map. Few areas are designated gathering points for active criminals looking for the right crime of opportunity, or new friends to help them plan their next heist. 8. How will player identification work in game? Will names appear above players heads? If so, at what distances will they be seen? As our design stands right now, the official servers do display names over heads within certain ranges. Some things like masks and balaclavas can affect this. Moreover, private servers have an option where they can hide names from all players unless greeted. By this I mean you won’t see the name over another player until they perform an emote action, after which you’ll always see their name.
