  1. Dev Blog #003!!!

YESSS good good news all around! These are just excerpts from what I wanted to discuss and not meaning this information is more important than the rest. "Our programmers, especially Henrik Sonesson, have upgraded our inventory mechanics and created two new important gameplay systems these last weeks. The library which you'll have access to in the Town Square module is now in place and functional. Players can both read public domain classic books in-game, or even write their own and submit them to the library for other players to read." Actually a really good point that I haven't seen mentioned yet, the inventory system! Devs PLEASE shed just a tiny light on the basic structure of the system! Just a tiny one, but as usual here's my questions. Maybe answer one? :3 -I assume its pocket based? Meaning if I'm wearing jeans I have 4 pockets to use. -Are backpacks, purses, duffel bags etc.. fully functional and separate from our characters inventory? Meaning will we be able to stuff a bag full of money for quick transactions on the go to other players etc. Plus the idea of throwing a phat bag of dough into the trunk of the car is just so pleasing. (And I wanted to mention this before: I really hope the money in the game is a physical object that can be picked up and compiled individually. Think of the coins in an elder scrolls game, each coin is individual and can be separated by dropping 1 coin, but if you drop lets say 50 coins it will be dropped as a small coin purse. Basically that idea but id want to spend hours counting and rubber banding wads of cash and stuffing them into a bag for transaction.) "In addition, the NPC shop systems are now in place. When you enter most shops you'll be able to find the items you need on racks or displays around the store. Grab what it is you're looking for and then make your way to the cash register to make the purchase. In some places you can preview the items you're holding even before buying; for example, in a clothing store you can go into a change room. This system even allows for shoplifting some items, although player-crafted or very expensive items cannot be shoplifted on official servers." -This concept is so dope and really does shine a tiny light on the high fidelity of detail they've mentioned in the past. You walk around the store and collect your items before paying for them giving you the option & opportunity to shoplift. Stellar, this proves its all about the details and shows us that nothing is being over looked. Stellar shit, you guys are killing it. THANK YOU!
  2. Dev Blog #003!!!

Haha this is the best part man! The hype train! But you make a very good point, there has been legitimate detail drops ever since they addressed the lack of communication. Good stuff!
  3. Too many killers

Glad you said it. I'm actually impressed how little trash talk exists in this community. It's impressive really, keep up the good vibes crew.
  4. most violent game

Yeah Id vote manhunt and hatred. (that shit was just...made me feel criminal af)
  5. Guns, easels, work benches...

Haha no worries man, and Devs please understand that this is my opinion, and know I haven't played Tarkov yet so I don't actually know how the gun mechanics work but I truly believe Battle State Games has created a standard when It comes to weapon development. Everything internal to the gun is its own mechanic (so they claim) and with that, if developed, comes mechanical breakdown and wear. Again that factor only exists when its coded to be so. Now if one would code weapon wear into the game and since the gun actually has internal moving parts that would cause a demand for internal replacement parts and constant user maintenance causing the idea of owning an object that is already scarce into a task. In a way this cuts down on the random death issue. I find a pistol somehow, more than likely if I found it on the streets it's not going to be in top functioning condition from there it has now become a task of finding replacement parts, proper care and cleaning, etc. that could take who knows how long. Let alone finding the right ammo etc. W.e you guys decide to do we'll back you but the concept of a weapon is principle really, what really boils down to intention.
  6. Servers + Houses = Confusion

Ah good point James I was basing my reply off of how the apartments are structured and its very well possible that the housing is structured completely different. Good points all around. So like James said, some bodies speculation will be correct so keep an open mind and look at all the angles. We'll get it right eventually!
  7. Hey

So bud when you return, what are you interested in about Identity? What are you wanting or expecting out of the experience?
  8. Too many killers

^ Alpha makes a good point see, If you truly are concerned with your personal safety, your possessions safety and the over all safety of the integrity of the information you hold, then I would highly suggest hiring a personal security team like Alpha Military Company up there. It's a brilliant idea really. The police, unfortunately wont always be able to come to your aid, especially if an arms race kicks off.
  9. Guns, easels, work benches...

Also adding to the craft tables: T shirt press, check me out. You're able to upload a drawing, painting, OR a .jpg file to the press and press the image to the T shirt. Brilliant, I'd love to see everyone running around with a T shirt that has the pic of the month on the front of it or w.e other shenanigans is created.
  10. Storage Units

    I second this idea.
  11. I'd like to turn your attention to a member named HERZOG who dropped this on us: "Once the game gets released i might think about setting up a "University Course" that will teach people about the basics of the game and how to go about making money in various ways and what not." Now I'm not sure if this was over looked or if a conversation had erupted out of it, but this is a brilliant idea that I vote into heavy consideration. See, how do we go about education? We send our kids to school for an education then they make the choice to continue studies under the institution. Once out of that system and even during we self educate. So you can meander around the game learning as you go or run over to the Uni and study. Converse. Have intellectual conversations and form think groups. Sign up for Economics, Financial Planning or Basics To Life with Professor HERZOG. I highly recommend this platform of an education system for Identity teaching all subjects of what is in the game and ultimately what makes up the game. Encompassing FAQ, Help Desk, etc.
  12. University as gerneral game education.

You have that power, yes. ^^
  13. Servers + Houses = Confusion

So basically there will be official severs and non official server. Official is ran by the Identity team, and the unofficial servers rule set is dictated by the person or persons renting the server but still hosted by the Ident team. Now lets say on official server 1 you buy land and have a house. You log in the next day and official server 1 is maxed out so you choose official server 2. Your property is still there because you're still logged into an official server regardless of its number. Now lets say you bought a house in unofficial server 1 and it was full the next day so you logged on to unofficial server 2. Your house will not be there because your house is saved in unofficial server 1 that is ran by a player not a Dev or member of the Ident team. Basically your "property" carries over through all official servers but is only saved to that specific unofficial server. Hope that helped my friend. ^^
  14. Writing Books

Was just about to suggest you add this to your business Bob. Haha. But yes more than likely the only way for you to make money off of your books it through printing and publishing. I may actually join Mr. Ross as an editor if he'll allow me. My IRL job has a lot of down time and I would be willing to log on and edit peoples work, getting everything prepared for publishing.
  15. Winston University

Dope! +10 for the effort. ^^ With that being said Herzog you should start mapping out courses of recommendation for the Devs to add in later on. Start with the basics like money management, what career path is right for you, how the financial system is structured, introduction to the stock market, etc.. You're at a disadvantage right now in terms of we're not really sure what content will end up making it into the game but at this point i think its safe to say w.e we want we'll pretty much get. :3 But you're a smart lad you'll be able to compile course studies as we move along. Cant wait to see what you come up with!
  16. Painting

HAHA I understand man don't worry. Your level of attention to RP and excitement is infections and I agree its exciting to build a community with people and that's exactly what we are all doing here. Keep it up! ^^ PS: Of course I took interest I've taken interest in everybodies posts. It's quite a unique thing we have going here.
  17. University as gerneral game education.

Exactly man, the whole point here is to create a world and us inhabit that world. I'm sure there are cats that will make and upload youtube vids for tutorials and that's perfectly ok but for the role players the whole point is interaction.
  18. Fake IDs?

I would use this in the sense of Identity theft see. When committing a major crime I would use someones Identity and leave that Identity card there at the crime scene to add extra time to my getaway and cleaning up the lose ends after a crime. ex: The Ident card is evidence and with gathered witness testimony its agreed that john doe here is the criminal. Who lives across town, the complete opposite side of town from where I live so now as the cops head over there. I'm shedding skin and falling back into the normal routine. They arrest the guy, he goes on trial, his alibi clears him and the jury finds him not guilty and its chalked up to another case of identity theft. Then what? as a cop whats your move? CC cameras...more witness testimonies... its up to you and the department to either pursue this if you think you can track this criminal or give it up and wait for him to come back out of his shell. Either way it is important to understand that cops vs criminals is a chess game. And that is another reason why I think the wanted level system should be structured entirely around witnesses. If no one saw it happen are you really wanted?
  19. Murder

Right so going off of this: Gaining a wanted level out of committing a crime no one saw is an "old" gaming aspect. You guys are severely changing the game here. Literally. So why implement such an old wanted system. I think a wanted level should be based solely on if another player caught you. Which brings up the argument of "Well if that is the case, then anyone could blame anybody." Yes exactly and then it is up to your alibi and your peers of the jury to decide if you are guilty or not. I mean IMAGINE with me here for a sec: You've been scoping out this crime for.. lets say a couple weeks.. You've taken notes and taken pictures with your camera or smart phone that hang on your wall over the map you've printed out from public records. All of your details are fine tuned. You gather up all of your evidence, stuff it into a backpack and head out of your apartment making sure your choice of clothes for this is completely different from what you normally wear. On your way over to the mark you stop in your chosen ally along the route, stuff the backpack into a garbage can and light it on fire with your lighter fluid and slick zippo. Evidence destroyed.. You pace yourself up the next 3 blocks, walking so as not to draw any attention to yourself. Then you're here, your target. A jewelry delivery business. (I believe most buying and selling will be done with a delivery businesses) You're here because you need the shipping ledger so that you can start tracking and intercepting small deliveries of jewelry. But here's the kicker, its on a PC and with no mods or Dev development adding remote access tools into the game (yet) you have to manually break in and check the ledger. (EVERY SINGLE TIME) Now what this creates is routine thus creating confidence thus creating trade craft. Now back at your apartment after the first successful ledger heist, you're ecstatic! You're hyped! But once the adrenaline wears off worry sets in. "Did anyone see me?" "Shit how am I supposed to know if the cops know!" You check the news, no word. So you're safe then right? Maybe if you installed a back door into the police stations communication network you could monitor the call traffic, but this is much to early on in development to have hacking and information security so you're left to waiting and seeing if they come for you. The night passes and they don't. Which means you better get some sleep, tomorrow you hijack a jewelry delivery truck. You're not expected to get away unnoticed....
  20. Vote for TFR please. Would love to stake out an art heist with this method of communication.
  21. Pickpocketing.

I think it would be a stellar improvement. It would add a layer of people needing to keep an eye on each other and then imagine the interaction it creates if the player stealing is caught either by the person they are stealing from or another person in the area. Then what? Does the mate behind you speak up and say anything to the thief? Or do they remain quiet for fear of retaliation or being flat out wrong. If you speak up and save the day maybe that thief sticks around and stalks you back to your place, waiting for the right time to sucker punch you and kick you while you're down. Maybe implement a grappling system into the game later on so that players can be subdued when caught, or kidnapped. And what if that person that sees the thief pick pocketing is wrong? What if the alleged thief is out on a date and slipping a note into his or hers dates pocket to explain feelings that cant be explained through traditional means of communication. Then what? The thief is confronted then forced to explain in front of a complete stranger that no, he wasn't stealing but passing on a letter of affection. Boom. Layers upon Layers upon Layers....
  22. Painting

My boy Bob Ross. Yes of course my friend I'd be interested and I've been reading your posts like an addiction. Well I spent most of last night reading all of your posts. lol. I'm more of a writer than a painter but was planning on shifting my focus. Now then Mr. Ross, are you planning on teaching your fine tuned skills?
  23. University as gerneral game education.

Oh SH*T and also you cant forget about chess clubs?! Oh man.. also this:
  24. Gore

And this is exactly why I would recommend the Dev's embracing the mod community. Check out my Mod Community post.
  25. Stock Market

Haha omg I didn't know Jordan Belfort is into Identity! Were all screwed.
