  3. Town Square Release

In the context of Town Square, I can see myself spending a lot of time with apartment customization! I remember playing the Animal Crossing series for countless hours when I was younger, always trying to get my home's interior just right! I'm not sure if I'll settle for a theme in Identity, or if I'll just populate my living area with random things I deem to find cool. I'm also very interested in seeing what sort of user-generated content will take the Art Gallery and Library by storm! I wonder what kinds of stories and paintings players will gravitate towards? The karaoke is likely going to be pretty silly, I think a lot of users will get a good laugh out of it. I'm not much of a singer, but I'll certainly try a few songs! I'm also curious if we'll find any hidden superstars among the community! Regarding the full game, I'm greatly intrigued by both the delivery and transportation corporations. I'd like to see what sort of crazy encounters occur when speeding to deliver an item quickly, or what'll happen if I taxi someone that might have ulterior motives. Heck, I may just choose to intentionally speed in front the cops every so often if I'm feeling bored (and crazy) enough. I also just love exploration in general. Should I be able to snag an off-road vehicle (for the full game of course), I'll definitely spend a lot of time driving around and seeing what exists within the world. (I'll try not to spoil too much for myself during development!)
  4. Salutations everyone! You might be surprised to see me in this far corner of the forums! I recently purchased a cheap $200 dell computer and threw a $100 GT 1030 GPU inside (prices are in Canadian currency). My goal is to see how well or poorly Town Square runs on low end hardware, and I'd like the community's opinion on how I should proceed! I'd like to ask a few Qs below and I'll see if I can shape up a video using your input. Note that this is just a personal fun little experiment of mine, John didn't put me up to it or anything like that. I just think this would be a neat thing to do with the community. 1. What software should I use to show the PC's specs? (CPU-Z, the BIOS, Windows itself etc.) 2. If I had to choose one, should I opt for live game capture via an external capture card, or record the monitor with a tripod+camera? Shadowplay/OBS isn't an option because Shadowplay isn't supported and OBS tanks on low end hardware. 3. What software should I use to monitor FPS? (Steam's FPS monitor, MSI Afterburner, Fraps etc.) And if you have any other general remarks about how I should test stuff out, let me know! I don't think I'll be posting benchmark graphs (as imo it's kinda weird to do that for a game your working for aha, if they floated around the net then out of context they would lack proper disclaimer transparency) but I would love to show long clips of gameplay when Town Square releases. A lot of people have been asking about minimum specs for a while, and I hope this little endeavor will help lend a hand in discovering the answer (or at the very least, help supplement the testing the dev team will do)! Here are some pics of the PC if anyone is interested! Processor is an intel core i3-2120 and has 8GB of ram. Case: Internals: The GT 1030:

  6. MODS MODS MODS & LOTS OF EFFING MODS!! $$$

Hey Greaserjoe, Here's the most recent discussing about game mods we had on stream: Police (Is it possible to change your police uniform+vehicle skins? Modding) https://clips.twitch.tv/SpoopyMushyBearTheThing Police (Is it possible to change your police uniform+vehicle skins? Modding 2) https://clips.twitch.tv/ConsiderateCrowdedIcecreamTakeNRG The developers are still deciding on how far they'd like to go with game modifications. They're interested, but it's still too early to say what they'll end up doing.
  7. Only a few more day

Hey ECorp, I apologize for only getting around to replying just now. The transparency around Asylum has been more like translucency, and in some cases, simply opaque. We do need to offer the community more insight into the project, as we understand that missed deadlines and silence is no way to build confidence with the fans. The development tracker John has planned should help shed some light as to where progress currently stands and will enable users to follow along with the various milestones we accomplish. I (along with other members) have been pushing to show footage on stream as per the recommendation of the community, as we also realize that posting artwork and assets only covers one aspect of the game. I know the the team has traditionally wanted to make the first impression amazing by saving a lot of the surprise aspect, but I personally believe it'd be best to show things sooner rather than later. We'll see what we can do. While it's been difficult to get concrete information from the devs in the past few weeks, John is allegedly writing a message on the forums right now and should be posting a statement shortly. I aim to convey as much information to the community as possible, and will continue to try and connect with the fans as best I can. I'm once again sorry about the late response, and the team truly will try to make amends as best we can.
  8. release date

Hello Darkgnion! The first pre-release content players will have access to is Module One, or "Town Square". It's currently scheduled for release on the 23rd of this month! Users will have access to character creation and apartment customization, along with a lot of other social features like karaoke, the cinema, submitting works to the art gallery+library for other users to see/read, chess, etc. We will have two more Modules release later on in development. Module Two will be the SWAT Module which will show off the weapon mechanics during a SWAT vs Bank Robber scenario. Module Three will be the Racing Module, where players will be able to try out some vehicles! The Modules are small pieces of Identity that give players the ability to both test and experience things that will be present in the full game. We refer to them as "Modules" and not "betas", but many people call them betas anyways. Later on, once all Modules have been completed, we'll have a beta featuring the full game world. Finally, after all of that, we'll then have the full release. Unfortunately, we have no dates beyond Town Square's release at this time! ; . ; We'll let the community know more information ASAP!

  11. Hey AstroJim! There will be a furniture store in Town Square that you can go to in order to "purchase" new pieces for your apartment. Module One (If there's no currency, how can you obtain new furniture?) https://clips.twitch.tv/BoringGoodEchidnaMingLee You are correct that there won't be any currency in Town Square, so you'll be able to obtain new furniture pieces for free. If you have a pledge rewarded apartment, you'll be given access to that in Town Square. If you don't, you'll still be given a smaller apartment to play with so you can experience the apartment customization features.

  14. New Screenshots (UPDATED)

I definitely understand your concern! We'll try to provide as many hairstyles as possible. It'll be a little slow at Town Square's launch but as this twitch clip states: Module One (How many hairstyles will there be at the launch of Town Square?) https://clips.twitch.tv/CrypticSuspiciousAnacondaPJSalt we'll be adding more as time progresses! Our website will be updated before or alongside Town Square's release. After it's been out for a few days, the shop will change to offer individual items rather than large pledge packages. I much rather you spend your hard earned money on an item you're interested in owning in-game, rather than donate without anything in exchange. Sure, we took your suggestions! But in the event it takes a long time to produce or they don't come out to your liking, it would be better to at least get a new set of wheels in-game with your donation.
  15. New Screenshots (UPDATED)

We have Dreadlocks planned to show up at some point, not sure if it'll be at Town Square's launch but it's definitely a hairstyle we'd like to include. When I inquired about Afros to the CEO, he said that hairstyle legit slipped his mind. While it wasn't mentioned in the design document, he'll see if he can get someone on the team to create an Afro hairstyle in the future. It would definitely be a cool variant to have!

  19. Again Delayed huh? IDC anymore

Raising valid and constructive points regarding Identity's development is fine! But I dislike it when I see threads devolve into personal attacks and slander. Please raise concerns in a respectful manner and don't bait for responses. Edit: This goes for the comments in this thread that eventually lead into personal threats. OP was fine to express his concerns as he did, but topics like these have been breeding grounds for attacks as of late. Please be respectful and mindful of others!
  20. Perfect typo

Couldn't have been in a better spot lol. I've mentioned it to the web dev in office a few days back and he'll make sure it doesn't carry over to the new site. He apparently doesn't have permissions to modify the current store page, so I brought it up with the CEO and he's aware of the spelling error. While John might fix it if he has the time, you'll probably see it changed with the new site! Thanks for pointing this out, a fellow moderator sent me the same screenshot on Monday and it was likely from this thread.
  21. Dev blog

Hello Decide! This is an in-game screenshot of Town Square! The assets in this picture are really detailed, and I can see why some might need to do a double take. Module One's boundaries will be blocked off by construction work/equipment to give players a more sensible reason as to why they're confined to the area. We'll still likely include some invisible walls in or slightly beyond these spots, as I'm sure players will attempt to break out. It's only natural! You might even see me trying to clip through a corner once Module One is out aha.

  25. Delay thoughts?

Hey iiMStevo, While I do garner the Community Manager name, I also end up doing a large amount of Customer Service and other miscellaneous tasks that would otherwise occupy a developer's time. I try to get new screens and information out when I can, but such material usually needs to be cleared by either the Art Director or CEO. I'm in charge of scheduling the streams and definitely try to get any new artwork or assets out to our social media wherever possible. I know the 4 - 5 pm est timeslot doesn't work the best for streams so I make an effort to get highlights done and logged in our twitch clip directory while also saving each VOD to our YouTube as unlisted (the URLs are in the directory here http://www.identityrpg.com/community/topic/10271-twitch-clips-directory/) The new website should bring some welcome changes to both updated information and overall presentation. The developer tracker should be reiterating what's posted on some of our social media, but it's admittedly seen better days as behind the scene tweaks have left it partially functioning. The Web dev is working on rectifying this for the new site layout. I'll see if I can get help contribute some new media to the forums in the meantime. At the very least, I'll keep the new screenshots thread in Town Square updated. I apologize for not appearing as frequently as I should on the forums and I'll make an effort to turn this around.
