Welp, the dev streams are no more; all of the channels of communication between development and the community are slowly closing, which is compounded by the (interestingly timed) departure of their community manager. To say that all of this bodes well and is a sign of good progress is staggeringly naive at this point.

true were has there twitch channel gone ?

The development streams has stopped while they concentrate all effort onto the Town Square with getting it ready for submitting the module to steam.

Where is the Dev blog for this month? I didn't get an email and I don't see one past july in the usual place.  Is this about an October blog?

I just wanted to say how pleased I am with the dev blog this month. I have been quite critical of Asylum in their whole development process, but it does come from a place of love for this project, not hate. I think the dev blog was very good, I think the gameplay video looks okay. Not the best, but enough to make me impressed. I am not going back on myself though, I still think there have been plenty of problems with the development and every criticism I have made is accurate and factual, however I can give credit where credit is due. I am also so glad you are sticking to not giving out a release date, think it avoids many problems. One thing I will also say is I like how you announced that it will be out before the end of October. I would be annoyed if you came out and said it will be out by Christmas, but you didn't.

I do have one criticism, but I will keep my mouth shut for now. Let's just appreciate the good news.

yup, finally we can get hands to it this month.

hope now everything get a bit faster from there.

Just to be sure you know this part and did not miss it:

I'm going to start this dev blog update with the news you really want: the Identity Town Square module will be published to Steam before the end of this month (October)!

    tslogo-medium.png

This means that you'll be able to create your characters, meet other players and set up your homes very soon. Here's how it'll work: before the end of the month, the Identity Town Square store page will be published. At this point, we need to wait for Steam's approval of our application which takes a couple of weeks. Once approved and released, you'll be in the square!

The green part highlights that once the steam store page is published before the end of the month, the application will still need to be approved by steam and this process takes a couple of weeks.......

Sorry I wasnt being very specific I guess what I meant by "early game" was like in the beginning we all wont have tons of money right? I more so meant early game as in new players and late game as in players with more money or money to spare. Again these were just suggestions sorry for my ideas.

I like the ideas, just wanted to clear it up on that specific part.

As far as i know, rockstar would never put a game out in Alpha... So to compare Them With this Alpha version of a game, is like comparing a car With a bike... I think this Dev. Have forgotten what the word Alpha means. It's a game in Early state, where people can test It and make bugs report. And help Them build on a game.. so when a game gets delayed only in Alpha state that worry me....

Yes, indeed but it is not a typical alpha. it is a module which they are also trying to redefine the first playable game state as not a complete buggy mess like all game companies do nowadays because Publishers set the standard for games Low. I only compared them because of the resource size and man power. If Asylum had the resources and man power of Rockstar, then they would have waited before announcing the game. They also would give a better standard because Asylum are not in it for the money, but are in it for their dream game and to change the standard of games when released.

Example of what publishers do: Sea Of Thieves, that game was released supposedly as a full game release but really it wasn't barely a BETA. They make games look good on paper for the release but don't finish. Yes Rockstar is different but, they are all about the money. They also spend a very very long time on their games but don't announce early and so it's easier to ignore their community.

You see, Asylum wants to set a good standard for games, the only problem is that, they crowd funded their game and so that is why they are doing the early state modules, and the modules are a new standard for your typical Alpha, they have said what features will be there for the launch of the 1st module and they will finish that last task so it is not as buggy/ broken as every other Alpha game has.

Like for instance a phone inside the governors room would most likely have more security so it wouldnt be hackable or at least hackable early game.

There is no "Early game or Late game", yes I understand from the beginning but there is no skill levels on anything and won't be in this game as the devs want everyone on the same playing field.

Asylum have nothing on the line, thus if they wanted to just abandon this project then they could and take the money. If Rockstar did the same, or any major publisher for that matter, they would kill their reputation. It's a reliability/trust issue.

That's where this is actually not true. Asylum may not have a big reputation like major publishers, they still have something to lose. If they abandon the project and take the money, then they will not be able to get a product out as the reputation they could get would be completely ruined. This alone will also ruin the developers in the company in someway and so a career that they enjoy could be over. Look there is a difference because Rockstar has the money and manpower while Asylum don't, this doesn't mean Asylum isn't capable and to get trust, you must earn it and well if they release a buggy mess it will be basically a Steam Early Access game typically. But you cannot say Asylum has nothing on the line but they actually have everything on the line. They also have passion with making this game because it is a dream game they have always wanted and it is a game they will play too!

You have reputation even if you don't with the public. For example, 0 reputation is the starting rep and if a company with 0 rep abandons their project and takes the money then they will make the rep go in the negative numbers.

And to be proud of a game that don't go at there schedule. To be honest i would not be proud to have let that many people down, over 6 month now from there first release date of town square :) maybe later this game would be something to be proud of, but not at this stage

They gave a release date they thought they could hit for the module, they then gave a second one which they underestimated because they kept hitting a brick wall of bugs which needed to be fixed and as you fix one thing, you can potential break multiple more things.

I am going to now give a rhetorical question. Red Dead Redemption 2 was delayed for 1 year and 6 months. They have more resources, they also delayed the game because it was for the better and not for the worse. The same case is with Identity. Delayed for the better not for the worse. Also they have been getting game breaking bugs which were deep down and had to be fixed before they could move forward.

My point is, this is the first module and the devs want there to be little to no bugs as they cannot guarantee a bug free launch. Games get pushed all the time and so it is nothing new but should be expected.

1.) Why does it take so long to fix a single error?

It depends on how deep down the bug consist in the code. The deeper it is, the harder to fix. Programming is time consuming and also as DagTag said, if you fix a bug, you can always create another one doing so.

    1 hour ago, Marc said:

4.) Why is the task list constantly being "updated", even though no changes are visible?

Well, before the new shop and all the bugs on the site. The tracker was being updated every week day even without a visual change. This was to show that it was up to date with no visual change but progress made. (I don't know whether it is a bug since the new shop or if it still is being updated but that will be the same reason it gets updated if it isn't a bug in the site.)

Boxing is not game , its life style ???????????????

Boxing is a sport that exists within life and so you can do it basically in the game too. Mechanic or not but it will exist. There are boxing gloves in the game.

Is there any chance of getting an update? Its been about 20 days with no communication.

Last week, Motown was talking to lots of people in the discord voice chat. He answered questions which were asked. Also there will be a stream this week. The Insiders won't necessarily be in a video format.

What does the Founder Hat help me with in the game?

The Founders Hat is cosmetic and is to just show others that you were backing early in development. The Founders hat won't be available to anyone once the bulk packages have been completely removed.

So, I saw that they already linked steam to game identity, some date to be able to test the game ?? Even if it is not released ??

Basically, before the Beta there are 3 modules, which are small standalone pieces of the full game. The 3 Modules include "Town Square" a social module, 2nd module is "S.W.A.T." this module involves different police vs criminal scenarios and is a more competitive feel.

Module 3 the final Module "The Racing Module" well this module is as it says. You get to race/ test the car mechanics / physics through some streets of Identity and some on race tracks which all can be found around the full map.

Beta being the thing closest to the full game consisting of the full map and more. The Beta is basically the 3 modules merged + more features and basically will be more or less feature complete.

probably, but that's not good at all, they used to release dev blogs somewhat at the beginning of the month. They said the dev blogs would stop and they would bring identity insiders, but i don't see them coming

They never said the dev blogs would stop! They said they would be bringing more insiders in addition to the dev blogs. The next Insider will be about/ on the Prison.

  16. @KingSoul The 1 task is apart of the apartments and that is one of the main things that is supposed to be in Module 1 and so it needs to be fixed in order for the apartments to be used on day 1. There are a few types of developers, the ones that stream are the 3D Artists and those props are for the later game, these don't slow the progress with the programmers which the last task is a programming task. The concept artist also is just to show and also give the 3D artists a reference on how the devs want certain things e.g. the most recent one being the prison building.

I was thinking that if there is going to be gangs which take control of turf and power, it would be interesting to have a United States Army or Navy which you could join as a career,  where you work up the ranks from Private to Captain.

That way, the Army could work to retain control of turf to the government (basically no gang land), where the gangs could try and get it back.

In essence the Army and Navy is to tackle major gang power?

What do you guys think about it? Good or Bad idea? Any additional ideas?

There will not be any military in the game at all. The Devs come from making their mod "Altis Life" which is on ArmA 3 which is a military sim game and so they decided against adding military due to all the military in the mod. (This is only 1 reason)

  18. Hey there, unfortunately the cosmetics are there but they don't give an advantage other than giving a home/ some storage. Apartments in the packages are unique designs but you can buy them in game with in game money; however the apartments won't be the same layout as the pledge rewards.

Also @Beach_Ball is currently no longer with Asylum as his contract ended recently and he wished to have some time off. We hope he will be back in the future though.

Either way, the key is useless

sad to cheat people, players, investors

    REGARDS

@MinoPLExcuse me but please read the following announcement which was made when the steam keys came available, because it clearly states it:

    Quote

We're getting close! You can now connect your Steam account to your Identity game account and obtain your Identity game Steam key. This key will add Identity to your library so that when Identity is released, you can download it and start playing immediately without having to do anything else.

To get your key, login on the main site (NOT THESE FORUMS) at www.IdentityRPG.com. You can then go to the Account tab of your profile where you'll see an option to link your Steam account.

You must have BETA ACCESS on your account to claim a key!

ATTENTION! You can only attach one steam account to one game account, and it's permanent. Be sure you're logged into your game account which has the items you've purchased before attaching a Steam account!

While you won't get Identity in your game library just yet, you will very soon. Handing out the keys like this allows us to reduce load on our servers. We currently have 20,000 keys in the system and we'll be adding more.
