Realistically,  I'll spend 5 hours, at most,  on this module.  It is karaoke,  chess,  and old movies.  What are people going to be doing for more than just a few hours?

Apartment customization, shoplifting, drug consumption (no effects yet), jumping around (animation is funny). There will also be added features like the shooting range at police station for example.

But at the base, it's a social module, and it's to try the features that you'll find in Town Square.

  2. Kate, I know it must be hard for you. If you need to, there's plenty of resources out there to help you, and I'm also here too if you'd rather have a personal talk. Getting out of an abusive relationship isn't easy. I personally haven't been in one, but I've seen many others who struggled with it. When you're left alone, that's the moment where you need someone the most.

I'm glad that you actually got here to vent, getting all that out. When keeping it all inside, it fills up like a bucket of water, and eventually it'll be too heavy and overflow.

On my personal side of things, I've grown up without even knowing who my dad is. I only assumed that he wasn't the right one for my mother and never bothered asking... Even when my mom one time asked me if I wanted to know. It's just something I got used to and didn't care about.

Life isn't made to be easy, you have to stay strong and get back up. Wishing you the best! ~hugs

Okay so the truth is that Identity's development didn't begin in 2014. Case closed. I'm actually glad to hear that. I was worried about what you have done in 4 years. But if this was like 1 or 2 years job, then it's not that bad. I will still keep an eye on this game although Town Square won't provide gameplay.

Fact is, Kickstarter started in 2015, and development started around that time, which means it's about 3 years in development.

I wasn't there at that time though, I only pledged back at the end of 2016, joined forum on 2017, and started being active in 2018.

But the actual videos of people playing TS etc, it just looks like a poor engine, clunky animations etc.

The two first streams were from June, then there was the most recent gameplay stream from dasMEHDI in October. As for the engine, they're using a heavily modified UE4. Animations will be fixed at a later time since they're not their top priority. Fun fact, they'll keep the weird jumping animation for now. But it's pretty obvious some people will be upset because it doesn't visually meet their expectation. It's not even beta... But more like an early development sort of like alpha.

Anyone who invested in a car is going to be very disappointed, I don't think they will ever make it to the game before it crumbles. I wonder if they will get a refund tho? I would assume so as content promised to them wont have been delivered?

Cars will make an appearance in the Racing module. There's also a possibility that in a future update of Town Square that you'll be able to visit your garage to check out your car, but you won't be able to drive it until module 3 and later.

As for refunds, you'll have to go through PayPal for now. So if it's been too long, chances are that it won't be possible to get a refund. When pledging into a crowdfunded game in early development, you acknowledge to the risks, delays and drawbacks that it might encounter. Some rewards will take more time to be delivered than others obviously. And some of them won't be available until beta/full release.

So we will be able to own multiple businesses then?
Because I would love to establish multiple streams of income.....

You will not be able to have multiple businesses or multiple corporations. You can have a corporation, a gang and a small business though.

We have all these people saying 'you have to take your hats off to what this small dev team has done' and let's be honest... So far, they have created a virtual chat room about 500 square meters wide, with chess, karaoke and apartment customization... This isn't really groundbreaking stuff lads... this wouldn't have been groundbreaking stuff 10 years ago...

I understand that the features of Town Square aren't ground breaking, and same for the other two modules. That also applies to many other games on the market. The idea of the Town Square module is simply to socialize around with other players, doing activities, customize your apartment or check out the other layouts, etc.

Watch the videos of this game on youtube and tell me honestly that it looks good and on par with other 2018 games? I'm sorry but it does not...

Depends which video you're talking about. For example, the crime video was featuring a lot of placeholders which some were very outdated. Worry not, those will be replaced. As for the Town Square videos, it doesn't look that bad in my opinion. I've seen videos of a few games in development where they focused on the graphics but had very poor game optimization and several bugs.

If you're not satisfied yet about the current state of Identity, I'd recommend to wait before investing into it.

Nice, another 30 day delay xD

I'd just like to remind that Town Square was not going to be released on the 31st of October like some others might have thought.
It was submitted to Steam and the release date is set for the 30th of November.

I'm not sure why you believe it's incorrect, but I know for sure that his information is correct. Both Twich clips mention about not being able to stream live videos in-game.

Irrelevant. This is exactly the point I was trying to make, he cannot know that it is being rushed. They are being efficient, it's not an opinion. They have produced a similar product to Identity in a quarter of the time. Even if the quality isn't the best, it is efficient. It could be both, we don't know.

But then, how is it really efficient? In a general sense, efficiency is the ability to do things well, successfully and without waste. Do we know if it's successful and well made? It goes both ways...

I am 90% sure the devs said themselves that there was one minor bug to fix, which turned into a major bug when they tried to fix it. I'll find a source soon, busy atm.

Was it when they've found that bug which was deeper in the engine? Also as I said, it's not just one bug...

    LmKiGqF.png

I love how he said "minor" though.

Never said the game wasn't garbage af, (I'm not buying it) just saying that they accomplished more quicker, which means that in comparison, we should not be having to wait as long on these products. If they use mechanics from Unreal Engine or whatever, and they work, why not? Tweak them for identity or whatever, I'm just saying that the wait we've had for TOWN SQUARE ALONE is way too much

MMO Real life RPG is a great concept, Identity justs needs to capitalize on it before another game does it better, or at all. PUBG came before Fortnite and what game does everyone talk about?

Yeah it might be quicker, but we'll see how it goes. Some people prefer more realist, some others prefer more arcade. I'm leaning on realism and don't mind waiting years. Also I know it seems like they're taking so long, it can be frustrating, but too fast isn't necessarily the best. Someone might steal your idea and make it better (...or worse?). Again, we'll see how it goes.

And with a little bit of reading, I noticed that Fortnite saw how Battle Royale genre became popular with PUBG (beta), so they added the new game mode on top of the foundation of the game.

You are such a hypocrite. You shame anyone who criticises Identity and here you are making completely speculative statements and presenting them as facts.

There's no need to insult other users. And I didn't see him shame anyone because someone criticized Identity. He might have said "uneducated" but it wasn't for that reason. Also, he was presenting his opinion based on what he saw. He might have been speculative, but it wasn't a reason to criticize him that way.

    5 hours ago, JoelKeys said:

Not necessarily. It means they are efficient, it just further shows that we have been waiting longer than is standard practise.

And we don't know yet if it's really rushed or efficient...

They have taken so many months to fix 'one minor bug' which turned into a 'major bug'. Months. One bug does not take months. That is not full winging it

I don't know if anyone have told you, but it's more than just one bug, and it wasn't minor either. Let's see, UI/inventory bug causing a database crash, wonky elevators bringing two users in the same instance, furniture placement bugs, crash caused by sitting on chairs (yep), voice connectivity issues. Most are fixed, but last time I've heard, there was something about apartment instancing, a crash caused by certain piece of furniture being placed and there's probably some more. Source is our lovely Discord server where you have to track for what Sean have said...

I am not nitpicking, I am saying you are a hypocrite.

You're still on about that? Nitpicking is finding small or unimportant faults, to criticize unnecessarily. Hypocrisy is complaining about something while doing that very same thing. I'm not saying who is what, I'm just speaking definitions.

no, I do my research and actually have proof of it...

    ninetofive(not counting the level design):
    - character creation
    - player can run and walk
    - players can open doors
    - added first person view
    - day/night cycle
    - house editor/ui

all these things are things that identity also has, moreso identity has:
    - chess
    - movies play in theaters
    - alarm when stealing
    - billboard hacking
    - painting

But yeah... ninetofive has accomplished as much? I think you are wrong, unless of course you have anything else to add...

You forgot about guns. Also character creation on Nine to Five looks more in-depth.

  11. Ehhhh it looks cringy. First time I checked the Indiegogo page, they were under $1000, second time was around $2000, and at the moment I write this, still the same. I think they had a little boost from Psi's video, which honestly made me feel almost sick. Complete bull****ting Identity, then treating 9to5 like it was really good and that we should check it out.

*Cough* okay so they started on Kickstarter as far as I know right? And they didn't reach their goal. Then they went for flexible goal on Indiegogo. Oof... I mean sure they'll get all the money even if they didn't reach the goal but still. Also it's been said that they use a lot of UE4 assets. And don't they only use UE4 features too? Game also looks... I don't know, there's just something about it that doesn't appeal me.

I'll stick with Identity, and I'll see how both games will go. But yeah I just heard lots of stuff going on with some games trying to compete with Identity.

Idk if you noticed around the q&a but when they were talking about the chess the told dasMehdi not to sit down... i assume that has to do with a gamebreaking bug, so yes they are not releasing it to the public yet because there are still bugs.

Hmm I thought that Sean and James said the sitting bug was fixed :| Oh I just read that DasMEHDI didn't have the updated client so he still had the bugs, according to Sean.

I just come on here now every few days because the forums are way more entertaining than Town Square will be. If it ever comes out, I wouldn't play this if they gave it to me for free at this point. Nor should anyone else, I feel sorry for people who actually spent money on this farce.

You don't have to feel sorry for others willing to support the developers. But I'd like you to at least give a reason why people shouldn't play Town Square.

I'm afraid that some people are probably way too obsessed with such little details like those. A concept is a plan, and I don't mind if they base themselves from real locations, which isn't a first in gaming industry. Although Pav could have easily done a bit of a better job to be honest instead of taking a copy of a picture.
