Ehh well have fun with the game not for me. I love law enforcement but not having military is a big disappointment.

Oh well, sorry to see you leave friend. :(

Though if I may make a suggestion, perhaps try Arma 3 or Arma 2 they're both all about military simulation. Plus there's server's that are completely dedicated to being 'Life.'  I believe (I only have Arma ,2 so I cannot say for 3) that there are servers that even have both Military and Police forces active at the same time.

  2. I suppose being that there's not gonna be any military whatsoever that that'd include the Coastguard?

But anyhow, @TaurusBlood if you are interested in earning ranks and wearing a uniform, might I entice you to join the ranks of the Identity Law enforcement?

I don't know if there's going to be boats in the game, although that would be cool, but if there was I'm convinced that the Police would have either a full department (If the game is set truly on an island, I could see the need for a Maritime Division or Department) devoted to patrolling the waters, or it may just have the water patrol be a part of the Department of Operations!

Just food for thought anyhow! :)

But you will get people on the drone all the time, and do nothing other than flying it which is a waste of a job i think but nevertheless it's a cool idea!

I don't think you would need to have a single person just for using the drone. You could just have a person who is a patrol cop as well as they are able to pilot a drone if the need arises!

The Law enforcement department should be expected to persuade the state to increase it's budget in order to purchase advanced equipment. For example, the department must provide the state with evidence confirming that the department has progressed with arresting criminals for an X amount of offenses while arguing that possessing drones could reduce the crime rate within the city. In the process, the citizens of the state could argue for or against such technology in order to secure their Right to privacy.

Either way, drones does not appear to be a negative idea within the game.

I was thinking more along the line of just starting off with them, but that sounds way better for the Roleplay. Great input, thank you! :)

  5. Okay, I was watching gameplay of Arma 3 and it occurred to me how a seemingly forgotten little aspect could be useful to the endeavors of the Identity Law Enforcement.

Now a disclaimer: that I do not own Arma 3 so I cannot say just how easily these UAV's handled nor how game changing they were.

Now knowing from reading through the forum and how Identity is placed in a Modern Era, I would like to assume that drones would be available to the people of the island.

    So in turn my idea

The Police force of Identity could have small aerial drones, piloted by a user from a remote location, that could be used to scout out enemy locations in a building or a compound. Maybe they could use them to track a suspicious shipment down a highway, and by not using a cruiser therefore not alerting the trucker allowing him to be traced back to his supplier.

Now I know that this could seem ambitious and a little extravagant for a simple city police force to have. But from what I understand from reading the news, some cities in the U.S. have begun using these unmanned drones to do the same thing.

As well, I could see criminals getting these and using them to plan heists or house invasions, or plot routes through the city. Maybe even use them to watch a rival gang from afar and track where they post their guys or where they hide their supplies, or whatever!

But I could understand how y'all don't want this to be a life simulation over a military simulation, so you wouldn't want some military UAV drone flying around the city; Plus some people might cry privacy invasion since the drones can get almost anywhere.

Just an idea, though, so take it as you will. :)

I hope you don't take it too personally if i arrest you then :) just don't blow up the police station

Uh. Ditto on what he said. Also if you could avoid doing the same to any of our cruisers, that would be great as well.

That's not quite what he meant by that description. In Identity, committing a crime flags you in such a manner that a police officer can charge you with a crime. If you run a red light, you're not immediately charged with the crime; however, if an officer sees you run the red light he can pull you over and will have the ability to charge you with that crime. This mechanic keeps police from being abusive and charging for crimes which you did not commit.

That said some major crimes may charge you automatically, but that can be controlled by the server operator/community. This is how it'll be done on the official servers to prevent griefing. There are times where gameplay in a multiplayer environment can't be exactly realistic to maintain it's fun for both parties. More "hardcore" communities may wish to adjust these rules, and they can.

Sorry if I was unclear. I'm glad a dev came along to clear this up. Thank you @Paratus

I found this here and I would like a clarification please.

Look at this tweet from the devs. IF you kill someone you will immediately be wanted and all the cops can see that you're wanted for murder.

That means if I kill someone in the middle of nowhere like in grand theft auto where I can literally kill some hikers on the biggest mountain in the whole game and I get a wanted star and cops are looking for me, like pffff oh okay..Because we all know if you kill someone in real life in middle of nowhere every cop on earth immediately knows that you killed someone, that's exactly how it works in real life.

In my opinion, I think that it will be more like a flag that appears next to your name. Not exactly telling the law enforcement that you have committed a murder, but more like it'll tell them that you've done something illegal. :)

  9. The top one was a joke, my friend. Hence the face. :)

But yes, you are right as to needing the probable cause even for a simple stop.

Anyhow, I hope to see you in-game friend, hopefully on the right side of the law!

As a future pain in your butt lol. I am thankful you are interested in the small but important details.

and it won't be that big of a problem if they frisk us without cause. My bet is it would work like a real court case being thrown out for obtaining the evidence in a non legal way.

Exactly. But also, simply for the fact of me having to say "Okay, and pat down the left leg, and pat down the right leg." Is kind of tedious to have to do all the time and having to have probably cause gives me a pretty decent reason as to not have to do it. :P

But really, It makes the RP a lot more fun for the criminal if I don't immediately say, "Okay sir now step out of the car," every time I pull someone over.

    Hopefully, I helped you out!

  11. I mean, I can almost say for sure that if the RP is serious, Police officers will need probable cause before searching someone.

Plus unless a major crime just occurred at the opening of the server, I don't think the entire island would be under a police state.

So to answer that, Police officers who know their job will make sure that they have probable cause in order to search someone.

However, I cannot speak for those who do not understand their position, so I would have to say that it would depend on the officer. :)

  12. I mean being seventeen myself I really shouldn't say whether or not another teenager should be allowed into the PD. However personally I can admit that I have seen some very innovative and intelligent younger players in my game life, more so that when I encountered some of the older generation players coming along to troll them only because they believed that their fun was being interrupted.

But honestly, I can see why some people wouldn't want a young player coming on, which could be solely because of their voice. As when I was younger I was treated with the same cautiousness because of my prepubescent tone, though being a rather intelligent kid I was able to sway them by showing that I studied before they interviewed me and made sure that I gave a good first impression.

But in turn, I think we should at least show some kindness and let them show their prowess before we make assumptions and other conclusions of the like. But hey, that's just me, yall can think what you want to. :)

Anyhow, Good day Ladies and Gents.

  15. I know for a fact that I'll be RP'ing as a Law enforcement officer. Most of the information about my character I created on a post "Quansian D. Attachi."

However, to summarize I can say that I will be playing the son of an upper-class Japanese family, who was educated in criminal science and was going to be forced to Marry someone he didn't want to so he ran away in an extraordinary fashion. Who nowadays spends his time as a patrol officer who is trying to create a new life.

  16. @Santa_storm I remember hearing or reading something about how there will be instruments. Much like the whole artistic path, where you can create whatever your heart desires by simply clicking onto a canvas. But from what I understand there aren't any 'skills' for said profession; As it is more of a hobby rather than a job. However, since the instruments will be conveniently similar to the art, where you can do whatever you want, I imagine that if players like hearing your songs, or the ones you stole from the internet, they might pay you for them. In turn friend, I don't think that there will be any 'skills' for the type of thing you are describing. So much as just the player deciding solely how well they will be able to play it. :)

  17. If I may friend, I would assume that you would make one up in the server. Per say my Roleplay name is "Quansian D. Attachi" while my forum name is QuannTann. :)

  18. Okay @Samuel_Tsai I got a question concerning two things:

1.) Being that Platoon C under office of Counter Terrorism. Is this a placeholder? Or is there really some special unit that is just called platoon C? Forgive me for my ignorance.

2.) Since there is sufficient evidence of no aircraft whatsoever, what is the point of the air support under the Office of special operations?

Also @mrbeardma I love the way your path tree looks. Plus the failure job options made me chuckle.

  19. I have never had any true 'real life' experience as a law enforcement officer (unless you want to count a few ride alongs). But in the game world, I've hade my fair share of work:

    For a few examples:

1.) I was in Arma 2 patrolling around in my car watching people cringe as I pulled up behind them after they sped through an intersection, or past a stop sign, or in some cases run over the stop sign.

2.) (Again in Arma 2 - same server) I was assigned as a helicopter pilot for when there was a high-speed chase or a manhunt. Simple as that nothing ever to exciting, just me sitting above some poor ole' chap talking into my radio and telling the ground crew where to move.

3.) (Again Arma 2 - private server) Then there was a time when I worked as a 'Park Ranger' sort patrolling through the forests of Chernarus watching for illegal hunters. Then again doing the same sort of job but out on the waterfront, checking people who were going into the turtle hunting territory.

4.) Then there was the old DarkRP GMod policing, which never too intense was kind of fun. It's pretty self-explanatory, as I jailed screaming children after they ran through the street RDMing poor civilians.

I never tried out the SantosRP thing, I heard that it had some pretty good policing systems. Though after going through DarkRP I've never really had the urge to go back to any GMod Roleplay servers since.

Then there's the good old Altis life that I've wanted to get my hands on since forever, I wish I had a computer powerful enough to run it, sigh...

But after hearing about the system that will be implemented into this game, I couldn't just not look into it; And after reading through much of the forum I can firmly say that without a shadow of a doubt within' my heart I will be a Police officer in Identity and man I can't wait!
