Yet if you look at the structure and organization of both, as well as the methods, training, and weapons used by each, they are in fact similar. I understand about how some PMCs are basically armies, but most are not involved in any active combat situations. The ones that are in active combat situations are almost always under contract to a government(s). The majority of PMCs/Security Consultanting Firms actually only provide security/protection for high profile persons, people who live in less suitable areas, and site/assset protection for companies and private individuals. Also, most PMCs are not legally allowed heavy weaponry without strong governmental oversight, as according to The International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR)

They aren't nearly as similar as you make them out to be, but fair point either way. My concern is that so many people will be drawn to PMCs that there will be very few normal citizens about. The reason why this wouldn't be a concern with the mafia is that PMCs are (mostly) legal, meaning people who don't want to find themselves involved in crime won't have any reason not to participate.

Just to point out, you are the Don of the Mariano crime family. Saying that PMCs and Militias should not be allowed is the same as saying that gangs/organized crime should also not be allowed. When you think about it, they are quite similar, just different activities, and one is more legal than the other.

Not that similar. PMCs are basically armies, and armies have been left out of the game for a reason.

I also think you should have to refill gas but its cheap and only like once every year in game, or I think you shouldn't have to have car gas.

This is why people think you're a GTA kid...

Being a hitman is not just a murder. A hitman is a professional at what he does and does it with elegance and gets away. They will probably cost a lot except for those who just want to kill and will rat you out so they don't have to go to jail.

You know the TOR 'hitmen' are literally all undercover cops, right?

@Johnny True - although doesn't the stats transfer to each official server? So everything you get on one server you get on the othe as well?

I hope so, a lot of deals and connections I have are resting on that. Will money and clothes also transfer?

I'm surprised none of the Mafia's are doing deals with gangs. I could easily see mafia's giving supplies to street gangs to do all the dirty work for them. lol

If it weren't for us playing on different servers there's a good chance I already would have reached out to you about this.

    Hello fellow people of Identity,

Today is the first day I joined, and some stuff is not that clear yet,
I have understood that the game is coming out in some months, or maybe a year, correct me if I am wrong,

I have also understood that you have to buy yourself a rank to be able to play the game? Or will I be able to play as a Immigrant? (I somehow do not get it..)

How much do I need to pay for the game, if I can buy a somewhat of a "early acces" thing, or something like that,

And please let me know of a part of the forums where it explains everything, from the basic stuff, to the most confusing info on here, I'd like to know everything about Identity!

    Thank you,

    Goobers

The 'immigrant' rank is just your forum rank, based on I think how many times you've posted. That's unrelated to the game, but you will be able to RP as an immigrant I'd guess. The pledges here are where you will get access to the beta, modules, and a few other things. Modules are small mini-games to be released before the game is released. As far as I know, beta will be released at the end of this year, and the full game will be released at the end of 2017. You will need to pledge at least $30 USD to get beta access.

it could be useful to let them know how cool it can be for people that love those topics, they can gain a big community out of real pilots that would just log in to test flight and teach other users. if they are developing a real life open world game i think they should go for that. Always better to think big!!

Maybe in a future DLC they'll add light planes, but I don't see them adding proper planes.

@Johnny Oh... I'll have a back story for my character but I won't be like freaking out if the RP doesn't go my way and all that BS. Like I'll still be me but if anyone asks my backstory I would say my character.. if that makes sense.

But unless you're planning on playing on a private server that's more like GTA than Identity, you're going to be playing a pretty SeriousRP, because the game mechanics are made that way.

(That was a condescending way of using if fyi)

You probably don't even know that the dev has only light RP servers on his arma servers, did you? This game isn't serious RP, it's dependant on the server that you're playing on genius.

@Aetion heavy RP would be the super realistic and hardcore shit. It's hard to explain, because there's different RP rules per servers.

Greenchat isn't just used on 4chan, it's pretty widely used. Anyway from the game features they're putting in, it looks as if the game is going to be pretty serious, at least compared to a lot of the roleplay you'll see on games.

I'm not gonna go further than light RP, not gonna bother hardcore realism role-playing, always been too serious for me. I just want to have fun.

I don't think we should make robbing banks easy. They should be hard, complex and require a lot of planning before hand. Otherwise it would be a very fast and easy way to get a lot of money in few minutes. And robbing a bank isn't so easy in real life.

If you want to be a criminal in Identity, you can't be stupid, reckless and just murder and steal things, hoping no one is smart enough to get in your way and respond! Just like in real life, you either plan a heist and do it perfectly, or you'll get caught easily.

To rob a bank you'll need a mask to hide your Identity, weapons which you have to act fast with, because they're visible (not all, but bigger guns are), manage hostages, avoid police, place your getaway vehicle in a safe spot, have a hideout...

And about dying and losing stuff- it was explained, but here's the source:

This is on official servers though. Private, player owned servers can have different rules on this- like on some private servers you might lose nothing, on some lose everything, and on some maybe even have to create a new character.

Exactly. Can't wait to see all the GTA kids try to rob the bank singlehanded with a hangun and get destroyed.

When you die, would you lose clothes, money, a car, your house or apartment, things like that? I will probably not like the feature lose everything when you die. I'd rather it be lose whatever the person takes from you when you die.

You only lose what you had on you at that time, i.e weapons, money. Except clothing, you keep that.

You get flagged instantly when you kill someone? That's kinda BS. If that's the case, it would be really disparaging for crime people since its so easy to get caught. If anything, you should be flagged only if someone actually witnesses you killing someone. Then that would make sense.

In reality, there would only be hitmen if there is a demand for it, the various crime groups around going at it with each other for example. Plus, within a few days of anyone even trying to be one, they'll most likely find it an incredibly... difficult, business. Because in actuality, it's really not that easy.

You've got to have the balls first, to try doing murder within the city proper.

Second, you've got to actually have a brain and use it when you're trying to get your information on someone and when you're going to actually kill him/her. I mean really, if you get a contract, then you INSTANTLY just run off and try to find him and kill him/her, you kinda deserve to get killed/arrested. It takes time, lots of it, to get information on a certain person to find a way to kill him/her, without getting arrested or killed doing it. This means you would have to take a few days to learn the person's habits, their interests, their job, their personality (if you're willing to go that far), etc. If you're seriously going into it you might even go for befriending your target and then, in a moment when he/she lowers their guard, just pop them in the head.

Third, you need to be able to actually have connections to people (crime people I'm Pointedly looking at you) willing to actually give out contracts and have the money to pay for the contracts to be completed. You can't just whisper to people and ask if they want to hire a hitman.

Four, you need to have a way to absolve of any evidence that points to your involvement, I.E. DNA, fingerprints, witnesses, etc. That means having iron-clad alibis, gloves that won't leave any of your DNA, fingerprints, skin cells, what have yous, and making sure no one sees you actually going for it. Hell, if you know what you're doing, you could even make it so it looks like a robbery gone wrong or an accident or something.

Five, it would be a good idea to make your word worth it. If you take a contract, you finish that contract. Period. No ifs, and, or buts about it. You don't take money to not do the contract, you don't take counter-contracts to off your original client. Only then can you have any chance of getting a contract and having the client have trust in you to complete the contract.

This is just off the top of my head, so there's probably even more factors, but seriously, it isn't an easy business. I played on a Hardcore RP F:NV server on Gmod and I played as one. It was, frustratingly difficult and only when you've poured hours to create connections, get good equipment, and start to know what you're doing (basically late game) can you actually be successful and make it enjoyable.

(Phew that was long. I got freaking passionate in this, damn!)

When they say 'flagged', they don't mean a visible one. Basically if you commit a crime that warrants you being arrested, an invisible flag for your character appears, making it so that they can be arrested. By default, players cannot be arrested, but if you were to commit a murder for example, the toggle would switch so that if the police had worked out who it was, they could find you and arrest you for it. Of course unless your face is on wanted posters all over the city, they will have to work out who committed the crime before they arrest you.
