I don't think raising the price will work, because Gta is around (idk) 35 bucks and they still use mods and now you even have to pay for mods online.

but I think the biggest danger is the bad roleplayers because that's what the game is all about and if people are not taking their job serious they will ruin it for everyone. Another thing is imo the inactive players because they said houses are unique and only have that many of them and if people are inactive no-one will use that house or rent it to someone else, so hopefully they'll make something that if someone is inactive for an amount of time the game will automatically rent it to someone else till the original owner is back, that way everyone can experience having a house even though it's just for a small period. ??

The difference is, this is a serious roleplay game whereas GTA is the opposite. If Identity was $15, people who have no interest in roleplay might still get it just to mess around, but no troll is going to spend $50+ just to mess up other people's RP. As for the houses I read somewhere that if you don't pay your bills you will lose your house, so that should deal with that. I agree with you that poor roleplayers are the biggest threat to Identity, but part of me thinks that they will be turned off of the game when they realise just how serious the roleplay is.

I don't like the idea of creation of a new character. As people have already explained there are already a lot of things that can cause you to die when you don't want to such as being run over or RDMed by some kid or being insta killed by a script kiddie. It's just seems like too much for the player to have to create a new character each time. I agree that an option to create a new character should be there for those that want to but for someone like me an option to spawn back at a hospital at a cost will be a lot better. I want to continue the game as my character not his brother or nephew or some other random person.

Having thought about it some more I have to agree. Death needs to have serious consequences, but losing your entire character might be a bit steep.

  3. Joining the Mariano Crime Family

Joining this thing is not easy. You cannot pay or beg your way in. You become a man of honour and respect only through merit. To even be considered, you must be cunning, smart, and competent. You must be able to take and follow orders as soon as they are given, and not let your loyalties sway. We do not want people who lack the ability to be self-directed and operate as useful members of the family. You must also be eternally loyal to your friends in the family, as they are expected to be to you. Loyalty is of the utmost importance.

The process begins with you working for a made man, doing jobs or helping in any way he asks. You must kick up part of what you earn to him. As an associate, there is no minimum, but the more you kick up, the more profitable you are.

Once you have worked for this man of honour, and have proven yourself to be a competent, intelligent, honourable man who is capable of earning and kicking up well, you will be proposed to the Boss of the family for being made. At this point, the made man who you work for will vouch for you, and if he truly believes you will make a valuable member of the family, and the Boss agrees - you will be made.

The process of being made is not something we talk about. Simply, you will enter an associate and come out a man of honour. Once you are made, you are an official member of the Mariano Crime Family. The possibilities are endless, and there are vast riches to be made. You are a member of an exclusive society which will protect you and your interests above all else, provided you put this thing before all else in your life.

This thing of ours is not just a job, it is a way of life.

OOC: If you think you have what it takes to become an associate of the family, simply message me here on the forums and I'll be happy to discuss.

  4. I've often thought how cool it would be to do like an Irish Republican Army alternative in Identity, but they've said there'll be no terrorism, and also it looks as if independence won't be an option. Pity.

Makin a new char is just noo its like you get stabbed in real life doesnt mean you have to be someone else just continue your life but diffrent and when you lose your stuff goes through a chance ratio so if its like 50 dollars then whatever the percentage the amount of it drops and for one item if its under 50% it drops if over it stays this can be  a good idea but the mechanism might be hard to do ;D @Motown @Paratus

Umm, nobody is saying you have to create a new character when you sustain a minor injury. What we're suggesting is that if you die, you're dead.

Obviously it couldn't be as final as that in all situations, maybe there could be fatal injuries and non-fatal injuries. Maybe taking 100 damage 'kills' you, but you wake up shortly after in a hospital for a substantial hospital fee, whereas 150 damage kills you permanently. This way catching a single shotgun shell to the stomach won't kill you permanently, neither will some twelvie driving past in a stolen car.

  6. It's possible, we haven't got confirmation either way, and while it's unlikely there'll be an age limit, luckily this game won't attract many young kids, thankfully.

  7. This is a good question. IC corruption will be a good way to fill your pockets, and at minimal cost. Taking $5,000 to change a law slightly or help somebody out is a good deal as far as I'm concerned.

Still, an option to quickly recreate your last character would have to be an option. I only plan on being one RP character so if i have to keep recreating him over and over again it will get a tad annoying.

That's true, but I think it would make more sense for you to create his son or nephew, rather than have the same guy come back over and over.

Maybe a GTA Styled death. You die, drop the money and stuff that was on you and you spawn in a hospital or something would be good and immersive. I am not sure how weapons should be dealt with on death. Since weapons are supposed to be hard to get maybe they should be destroyed once you die so no one can pick them up but you can no longer use them either.

I definitely think anything on you including money and guns (they've stated not clothes, and that's fair enough) should be dropped. I think if someone is able to kill someone else, they deserve the gun they drop. It's unlikely you'll see many guns larger than handguns, which I'm glad of. I like the idea of coming out of a hospital, but maybe you can only do this once, and the second time you are 'killed', your character is dead just as QurWinter says, and you have to make a new one.

I believe there are already a few high end youtubers that have a video promoting Identity, using the overview video as the background video and commentating over it. I also thing is was Squirrel (not too sure) that did a video with a commentary including the devs who answered questions and what not.

I've seen a few of these but I'm imagining they release new exclusive pictures and video clips through different youtubers, makes it more special for their audience, and therefore more likely to look into the game.

  12. I don't know the ins and outs of game development and publishing, so this idea might not float at all, but to help drum up hype for Identity, you could possibly release videos and screenshots through popular youtubers. That would give them an incentive to post videos about it, and attract the attention of their audiences. For example, Frankie on PC in 1080p has made a video about the game, so he'd definitely be willing to do this. Everybody here would understand completely, and if anyone's dumb enough to complain about 'selling out', it wouldn't be too hard to point out how much this is potentially helping Identity.

    Thoughts?

Kind of ruins the hitman RP I was wanting to do :c

Typically hitmen don't use sniper rifles. Most of the time they have a handgun, go up close to the person, put an entire mag into them, drop the gun and flee. I think it's only movies and high profile assassinations that make us think hitmen use snipers.

  14. So I've heard that death in Identity will send you back to your last sync-point, but I feel like that would mean there aren't enough consequences for dying. I'd hesitate to say your character should be dead once and for all, but will there be some serious repercussions for dying in Identity? If it was made so that death was a serious matter, the game would be a lot more high-stakes and realistic, and people would be more fearful of doing stupid things and committing crimes, which would add a whole new layer of realism in my opinion and make the game that much more immersive and fun.

Obviously, police work (and Identity by and large,) takes all kinds.

So I'm curious--who here's coming from another mod/community where they did law enforcement? What were your experiences?

Personally, I'm coming from Arma 3's A3L--I was a patrol cop there for a very long time, but I ultimately went my own way due to some differences of opinion with the department leadership and the direction the force was going.

Even still, I spent hundreds of hours on patrol there, and I basically did it all--high speed pursuits, bank robberies, backing up SWAT as they executed search warrants, you name it. It taught me a lot about police work and I learned a lot about people.

Hopefully, when Identity gets going, I'll be able to take that experience to the streets.

You don't know how glad I am that Identity will have some competent police. Nowhere else I've RPd has cops worth bothering with. Probably shouldn't be glad, you guys are just going to make my job harder but still.

  16. To start I want to be living in a modest place but as my family grows in power and I build my fortune, I'll probably end up in a huge mansion guarded by security that serves as my house and a meeting place for the administration of my family.

What do you mean by overwatch? I'm not familiar with the system. If you are referring to a noclip camera that can be used by anyone to spectate, then this wouldn't work. It would be very easy to ghost and metagame by abusing it. If you are referring to a sky camera that admins can use to look at players in the world, then I agree.

I'm assuming there'll be some sort of administration system. As long as you've got a few admins spectating around the place and on stand-by to deal with bad RPers and RDMers, that should clear up a lot of potential issues.

I haven't been disturbed in RP by any hackers atall, and I consider myself lucky, as quite alot of people I know have encountered them, and I can understand why it would be so immersion spoiling to encounter them. The devs do promise to include a good anti cheat system, which I hope will be thorough and strict.

Bad Roleplayers are, in my opinion, the biggest threat to Identity. The game relies on the community to make it what it is, and without a good community, the game is literally useless. I have to agree with Johnny here:

Also, keeping the game at a high price may filter out the unwanted guests. After all, trolls will not go as far as paying £30 to annoy people.

As for twelvies, I am unsure. I have met alot of people of the age of twelve or just above or just below that are nice people, but even though they are nice people, they are immature, and will not grasp or engage in the concept of the game properly. It's quite a difficult situation go deal with, because we don't want to be massively segregative, but we also don't want to ruin the RP experience, so, like Johnny said, a whitelist with a thorough test is in order. Maybe not for the official servers, but definately for the community hardcore RP servers.

Very well put. I've considered the same about having a high price tag. A lot of would-be trolls just won't spend $50+ to mess with people. It's easier on games like Garry's Mod because they've already got it, but there's literally no reason to have Identity other than to roleplay, so that should be good.
