Type of game (file-based or browser activated)

Im just curious of how the game will be ran.  Some games require you to download the files, and open up the browser and click the link to start playing.  Others require you to just download the game, run the file, and get straight in...which is Identity?

Probably a client which you download and then run off of your computer with an launcher/direct start. 

Nothing on this has been confirmed on this but it only seems logical.

You are right, they pretty much said that for the beta and modules, you will download a client. For the full game they said steam, but pledgers may have to download the client using there website but I think it will be through steam or you will have a choice.
