  1. The Neighborhood - Recruiting!

Hey welcome to the neighborhood! Glad to hear it, if you're interested in the mafia I would refer you to @Frank he runs a decently sized family and also has ambitions to create a "little italy" within our community in the town that we decide to take over. Sounds like you'd be a good fit, I'm sure there's plenty of space for a gun shop in their village. I encourage you to also join our discord and interact with our other members as well. Plenty of career opportunities within, and no particular rush at the moment. https://discord.gg/sh76s8Q
  2. The Neighborhood - Recruiting!

That's awesome lol. I might put that in my signature and main post.
  3. The Neighborhood - Recruiting!

Qlight, I recommend you not set salary's and promise to pay people certain amounts until we have more information about the in-game currency and how easy it is to obtain etc.. Realistically $20 an hour sounds great, but in a game that could potentially be way too low. You also want to avoid promising too high, I would develop some sort of % based strategy and implement it closer to launch.
  4. The Neighborhood - Recruiting!

Glad to hear it! I'll add you to the roster shortly. Any idea what sort of business you're interested in running?
  5. Governor Assassination

I obviously don't speak for the dev's - but I've played a lot of games, and I'm going to say most likely yes. Governor will most likely be a position filled for "X" amount of time, or until impeached etc. Nobody else will lose their jobs or companies when they die, why should the Governor? Now if people were to continue killing him, then he can't very well get his job done and may even just resign. But those are about the only readily available options I see there being.
  6. The Neighborhood - Recruiting!

The consumer base is not what you need to be worried about, the consumer base is predominately ignorant to what goes on behind the scenes. If you threaten a company for what the owner of that company is doing, you inherently threaten the jobs of everyone working there and the profit of everyone who's invested in it. Most people also won't care about what companies affiliate themselves with, they probably won't even know. They're not going to associate Honeybadger the face-puncher with, Best Guns Ever Shop. They're going to associate the best guns shop with the best place to get guns, because they want the best guns and could probably give no care about who runs it. And they're going to associate Honeybadger with run away if you like your face. It's not the rag-tag, would-be thugs that you need to concern yourself with, it's the people who have enough money to pay those rag-tag would-be's to dedicate their lives to making yours hell that's going to be the problem. I enjoy your proposal, but it hinges on way too many specific things that have to happen in a particular order and quite frankly provide you with very few options - someone denies you, what are you gonna do? You have to use force, you're not gonna win a force war with an organization twice your size. The other variable is time, an organization like yours cant be formed until there's a massive marketplace established - something that could take almost a year or more to develop from the launch of the game. The very first business owner you accuse on a 300 player wide server is going to spread that around to his "illegal" associates all across the map and give them your name. At that point, you just stunted your growth by quite a bit because you're going to be getting killed and mugged constantly. Probably killing your dream before it ever becomes a reality simply due to lack of funding. Having power and authority like that is going to require a lot of money, and a lot of firepower.
  7. The Neighborhood - Recruiting!

@Xilvius I enjoy the roleplay banter and all, but throwing around that card will make you a lot more enemies than friends in an environment like this. You're basically asking large businesses and deep pocket investors to put bounties on your head until you rage quit the game. The only thing stopping people from doing this in real life is the real consequences aspect of it - here, if you look at someone funny they're just gonna pop you in the face. I'm curious how you plan to obtain that kind of authority over businesses and what exactly your plan would be to shut it down? You'd need an entire police force that jumps at your every command, a full team of politicians that support you, and most likely the governor as your puppet. All things you're unlikely to accomplish if server majority is against you. Care to elaborate on your plans for your Bureau?
  8. The Neighborhood - Recruiting!

I look forward to your "attempts" to prove anything. As far as our Mafia is concerned, who are you to accuse them of being an illegal affiliation? That's quite the "guilty before proven innocent" mentality you got there, doesn't seem very fair. My organization provides the economy with jobs, we do not discriminate on criminal backgrounds nor care what they do in their personal time. If a member of my organization is operating outside of my scope, there's simply nothing I can do about it - You're just going to have to take it up with that person on an individual basis. Our intent is to be peaceful, however - with that being said, I don't recommend you give us your home address anytime soon.
  9. The Neighborhood - Recruiting!

    You're funny. Bring it on.
  10. The Neighborhood - Recruiting!

Glad you're interested in joining! Private military will be fun, but you'll probably want another job since private military work will only be certain times or events. There's another guy @Qlight123 who is your age that runs a transport company, perhaps you could be one of our truck drivers and work with him. Having an armed driver would benefit our trade routes a lot, or you could just simply provide security for our transports.
  11. BlackWater Cooperation

It sounds like my idea, except with a lot less detail. And Im pretty sure you meant to spell Corporation. It might be hard to get people to work for you if they dont think you can spell.
  12. Who wants to be friends

Everyone looking to play with a large community is encouraged to check out my organization here - It will provide many options in terms of what you want to do! Click Here!
  13. The Neighborhood - Recruiting!

Glad to hear it! I'll add you to the roster shortly. Keep in mind that in order to make money, you'll need to actively participate in the system we've created / are creating. We don't just, hand out the money.
  14. The Neighborhood - Recruiting!

Roster updated and content of post edited.

Sounds interesting, this is something I would consider forming with a group of good buddies - or perhaps even later on down the road once you know who the power players are. The problem is to achieve something like this, not only you but everyone in your Society has to be power players. It's hard to make 5-7 people all that strong, reliable, and rich fast enough and still keep it in your organization. You will need the support of large businesses, politicians etc ; all of which involves branching out and potentially exposing yourself. In a server of 300 people it only takes 1 well-known person to give up the Identity of you and everyone you affiliate with. An interesting concept nonetheless, I wish you luck.

Dont secret societys generally hand pick their recruits? Through like, secret messages and stuff.
  17. The Neighborhood - Recruiting!

@Rew_Mceo I mean, everything is a bit of an exaggeration i think. We will have our hands in what we consider to be the most profitable businesses, but I'm sure a few will slip under our radar. The reality is that everyday average players won't know of our conglomerate until its too late, and even most people here outside of our organization may not know what server we plan on joining. If our organization takes months to build and fully establish, it wouldn't be very satisfying for players on our server to consider starting over on a different one. At which point they're forced to adapt to the environment - with that said it's my understanding there are 3 "towns" - we only plan on inhabiting one of them and secluding ourselves within it. The other two towns will still be occupied and full of business from the rest of the community - it just likely won't be in our town at the expense of it being run out. If our criminal organization has run every other criminal organization out of our server, well I don't really see that as a bad thing. They win - and while I do feel like there will always be room for criminal activity - a life without it is equally as pleasant. The Luprano Family that we work with are keen on business, and as long as they're making money with us - committing crimes would only be for the simple enjoyment of it.
  18. The Neighborhood - Recruiting!

Very great questions, most of this I explain with people on an individual basis with similar concerns about the organization. I do have a good understanding for how the organization will function but I'm trying to make pretty pictures and the such and it's taken a little bit of time - hopefully in the next day or two. Advisers will consist of the director for each division - Mining director, 1-2 other business owners, 1-2 political figures, Godfather, myself ; and whoever else we determine to be a respectable opinion. These people are likely already leaders in their own respects and will know how to manage and direct their own companies - as a group we will come together and determine what the best decisions for everyone would be at that time by looking at the big picture from every angle, business, politics, gang activity and so on in a manner that benefits everyone. "As someone who plans to run a bank, I have a huge problem with this. Business loans inherently need high interest rates to offset the risk involved with investing in businesses. Basically, the best case scenario is that you lose money due to a majority of businesses failing or the worst case, you will crash the economy because you give out free money without appropriately compensating for risk." Replace loan with the word investment, because that's essentially what it is. Lets say that we decide mining will be the most profitable investment to capitalize on as the very first business in the game. If we build up our mine first we will all substantially profit from it - if that's something we decide we can guarantee then we would not only have the mine and its employees willing to invest towards it - but also players from politics - players from the mafia etc. Because as a large entity we can guarantee the swift production of such business and capitalize on the market early, even 20 people's 5% investment to startup costs would earn them a lot of money. Then we do the same thing with our second business, 3rd business and so on. It won't all click together at first as you say, and that's why hand selecting our affiliations and leaders is of great importance - for those who can see the big picture and continue to work together when you have 5% invested into 6 companies that we've accelerated the growth and production of as a group then you will surely start to see a large flow of income. If The Neighborhood chooses to promote a business, it will be the best of its kind - not only guaranteeing it's success and profitability but also the encouragement of multiple investors so that we can get businesses up bigger and faster for expansion purposes. A bank would still be of great importance to our community, and it would be the only bank all of our businesses and mafia members etc will use - So it will be guaranteed to be the best bank because it has the best business - see what I mean? Not to mention the security of all the wealthiest and most powerful people. Ideally we wouldn't need a bank for loans, however this doesn't mean that outside organizations and players won't want to get a loan at the most reputable bank. "Where are you going to get the money to run these services? Yes you have businesses as "members" but what does that actually mean? Do they pay you a % of their profits as a membership fee? Do you act as a parent company and oversee the profits of the company and it's distribution? I'm not really sure how you plan to run this, aside from, "we'll decide what we want to do later." This is a massive conflict of interests. While not illegal, anyone who votes John Rockafeller to be president is an Idiot. The entire point of a company is to make profit. That is it's sole mission. If someone with loyalty to a company then controls the government, it is their obligation to pass laws to make a company more profitable. Meaning they either betray their company, by being a good politician, or they betray the people by being a good businessman. It's putting too much power in one organization. Oh what do you know I was right...." As I explained above money will come from investments that we can guarantee. Most companies will get their startup money from what they collect early on doing odd-jobs, perhaps even a few of their employees will contribute to the startup costs. But how much do you think this will be exactly? 100k or more to start up a business? Let's say that takes the average player about 2-3 months to accomplish (I want to reiterate this is hard to explain to an accurate extent especially tax %'s and numbers because we don't have all of the information, but this is a rough idea) well, as a collective group we will have over 100 members, of which I'm sure we can find 20 of to invest in our first business getting it off the ground in maybe a couple weeks - capitalizing on the market much sooner than any other companies and accelerating the rate of return profits. Everyone will want to invest in everything we do, perhaps even at the cost of not getting their business up first because of how much profit they will make overtime investing in multiple different startups that we plan on controlling. Mafia will want to invest in business, business will want to invest in mafia drug trade - everyone will take a % of income from where they want to take a % of income and everyone's best interests will be the security of each other - hopefully eliminating any thoughts for backstabbers or people who want to defy the neighborhood from within. The mafia could try to overwhelm us and seize control, but would they really want to when they're profiting so much and surrounded by the advantages of all the biggest business? The Governor who creates laws beneficial to the businessmen is not necessarily betraying the people, since ideally WE would be the majority its perfectly reasonable to create laws for the mass. Having someone that we support, and who supports our ideals - will naturally make our environment flourish more. Yes it is a lot of power to control, but its necessary power - going against it is simply not a favorable idea, and working with it only includes advantages. I will try to touch some more on these details a little later. I'm working on revamping the entire post to better explain some of these things since we've acquired a lot of great affiliations recently.
  19. Luprano Family

I'd like to personally welcome the Luprano family and everyone in it to our growing organization The Neighborhood. Anyone who affiliates themselves with this family will surely be among the best this game has to offer. If you like competition, I hope you also like hunting - because finding any will surely be a task with the combination of our super powers!
  20. -- Done --

I find it pretty cooincidental that another conglomerate idea is posted only a few days after my own. Just out of curiosity what sort of experience do you have with the things you mentioned? Establishing something like this requires a lot of effort and explanation - people need to know the why partnering with you is beneficial to them. I dont think I really got that question answered through your presentation. Perhaps it would be in everyones best interest if you took a look at The Neighborhood im currently working on. I think youll find that a lot of our ideas and even future plans may be closely aligned with each other and maybe we can work together in a more favorable arrangement. If you want to run a business, I believe my organization will be THE place to do it. If your interests are dead set on the management of others role, then we can discuss the potential idea of one or both of you joining my board of advisers. Or if youd just like to continue with your own project, I wish you the best of luck. As of right now we have a Director of mining operations, a governor and potential business owner, the company I plan on running - on top of several undecided members who will find jobs in our organization and decide what they want to do etc. There are still many positions open and careers that we need filled, the more people who join us the more everyone profits.
  21. The Neighborhood - Recruiting!

Started gaming at 8 huh, impressive! You are quite young, but I won't let that deter you from finding a home in our Neighborhood. I shall add you to the roster of our growing organization and publish it very soon, from there I will setup a discord server so we can start to meet and discuss ideas amongst each other. As long as you're not too young to be offended by some of the language you may see / hear and don't have a bad attitude - I have no problem with you joining! I look forward to seeing what you contribute to our society and the path that you carve for yourself within it.
  22. Aurum Mining Corporation

Great! I will reach out to you and others very soon with more information and a more well-formulated plan (probably early next week) as well as add your company and name to the list of brands that represent our neighborhood. This will enable you to start searching for investors from within our organization and gaining support as well as finding reliable employees. When you get a chance if possible head to the main thread in my signature and make a quick post about how your company will be joining on (mostly just for the bump and thread activity) so that more people will also consider joining our cause. And if you'd like you can link the thread in your signature like I have done and include your title. Let's start getting some brand recognition out there!
  23. Aurum Mining Corporation

Ideally the director of all sections Political/Mining/Transportation/Business etc would be able to sit down as a board of advisers and discuss what our most lucrative move would be at that time. If we're producing a ton of great ore that needs more transport companies, which will generate more profit over all - then we will make the formal announcement that our next big project is "This" and the more people who invest / agree would pool together resources to basically fund the accelerated progress of this project and hasten the returns for everyone involved. If you invest your parties treasury money you receive more money for your treasury to spend how your party agrees it should be spent. If you invest from your own pockets you will receive more income for yourself and a smaller % for your parties treasury. So on top of the profit you would receive from investing in the growth of our transportation - you would also benefit from more reliable and discounted shipping methods. We will keep doing this and adapting as we expand to the largest and most profitable needs at the time for the acquisition of new business.
  24. Aurum Mining Corporation

@Fakeout With the system I'm currently designing between myself and friends, the conglomerate will be broken up into different sections - In basic format it would look like Political section / Business section / Transport section / Mining section so on and so forth ... Members will be placed into these segments based on which roles they intend to fulfill in the game / for the organization. The conglomerate would not "control" any percentage of your company - instead the conglomerate would act as a large group of investors that as members of our organization would put money towards the investment and startup of your company - while expecting a modest amount of income for themselves in return - but also contributing to the profitability for their "section" which is really not too much different from how regular investment works. With this system for example lets say that 3 people from the political section and 3 people from a business section each invest 5% into your startup and maintenance costs - that would mean the political section contributed 15% and the business section contributed 15%. Nothing is set in stone yet and this is just simply trying to explain the theorem here - but lets just the players who individually invested in your company would receive their individual returns - as well as give 1% of their profits earned from your company into the coffers of their actual political section. Example being that 15% was contributed by political members, so the entire political parties treasury would receive 1% of that investments profit from 3 members of its section totaling 3% of the profit made from your political investors. With a system like this I feel like we can eliminate or at least minimize the "conglomerate" fee and instead allow that money to be recycled by the political party to invest in other startup companies or the business section to invest in a new store - things along those lines. Once we have multiple companies established and multiple investors invested in several different areas the money will flow for everyone and their respective parties. As a direct answer to your question - you will be running your own company and employees the way you see fit. I browsed many different threads and only offered this opportunity to businesses that I think will thrive, particularly in our environment. As the director of our mining operations you would have the most valued input and knowledge of where to place mines, how to manage them, and where your particular sections money should be spent. I can not tell you to keep investing in the startup of other companies within our organization, but since we will be business and trade oriented it could very well be in your interest to participate in that. Because the more businesses we have, the more jobs we supply, the more investment and profit opportunities that will be available for everyone involved.
