Yeah, this idea has been suggested already in different ways and well the developers have stated that there won't be something like this as "Cameras" are heavy network objects and so it's not planned in the future! But this decision could be changed by them and re-looked upon in the far future!

Radio stations are a thing I believe!

You could always start a news station or a newspaper & the "reporters" could be on scene & they could screenshot things & post them along with their stories on the forums or a website. OR, better yet, if there'd be a way to post those in game, perhaps on the internet. That'd be awesome. I think it'd be neat to see something go down, & then arrive on the scene & interview witnesses and officers. Then go get statements from the government officials.

No reason why player owned insurance companies couldn't be a reality. Would just need a system in place to ensure that they pay up.

Yes, agreed. With all of the other things going into this game, this wouldn't be that hard to add, I wouldn't think.

Like many other people in this thread I've long since grown both bored and tired of having to read your 'facts' so I'm going to reply to this then slap you on ignore. Your 'facts' and your being 'well informed' are nothing of the kind, nor do you show a point of view in an understandable way & people keep disagreeing with you simply because of that, you talk rubbish.

Identity, changing what it means to be a mmorpg

Did you read that, or did you just go straight to the forums to annoy everyone? Payday & GTA5 will, in all probability, continue to do heists better than Identity will......as far as game mechanics go. Human interaction has, and always will be, the heart and soul of the mmo, yet here you are giving us the 'low down' on how banks should be robbed which is exactly the way banks are robbed in Payday and GTA5 when you're playing against NPC's. Here's a newsflash for you, this is not either of those games, nor is it Altis Life or Arma3 or any variation thereof. Asylum will provide us with the tools so that WE can make a difference, not so we can do things the same mind numbing way they've been done before.

There will not be any bad cops, or bad criminals, just bad players, & on many private servers I have no doubt such players will be weeded out. Many of these servers will be role play servers, and just to clarify......by role platy I'm talking about people who have taken a lot of time with their char's story and development & see themselves as a part of a picture, not someone who thinks he's role playing because he's decided that on a particular day he'll be a Bank Robber for a bit of fun.

I'm hoping that Bank Robberies will be exciting events, not something that happens ten times a day until people get bored with them, I want them to be something the whole city talks about, something that will ADD to peoples daily virtual lives. The Bank full of dead people that you keep talking about, will do none of those things.

Very well said. I'm with @Jinx

yeah, except all squeakers cry to the devs that they hate it that way and spam it into the ideas forum until it gets removed

Then they need not sign up for this game. If they market it correctly, & let it be known from the get go how things will be run, AND the devs have a strong backbone, I believe it'll work.

Currently, the maximum jail sentence is 45 minutes. That could change! It's a simple value that we can set and modify on the fly, and will do so based on future testing!

First off, there are two areas you may be placed in when arrested.  Jail, for minor crimes lasting no more than 5-10 minutes where you will simply have to sit around in your cell, harassing the neighboring inmates until released, and Prison, for major crimes!

The prison feature is like playing an entirely new game in itself! There is shanking, gangs, territory control, prison breaks, or even just social areas for those who don't want get their hands dirty! Prisoners can request a trial, and if accepted, will be sent to a court house where a jury of players will determine your fate. If acquitted, you will be released on the spot, where you can continue your life on the outside, but if found guilty, you will have to spend the remainder of your time in prison, and can choose to leave at your own will once your sentence expires.

I feel as if jail time should be longer than 45mins just because it has to be long enough to stop encouragement of everyone going into crime. Far too many people will want the quick buck and if the jail time is not long enough people will not worry about it as much and are much more likely to commit crime. However if they commit a crime and are in jail for a couple of hours they will be less tempted to try and make quick money. You dont want everyone to go into crime because then it will be just like ArmA 3 Life

So this of course is entirely my opinion, and like all opinions, is subject to change. This is what I think it should be like in the prison. First off, I entirely agree with most people here, 45 minutes is WAY to short. As Undead said, you don't want to encourage people to enter crime, and, if you're going to have a whole acquit court system, that could take enough time in itself, so you want to have a sentence long enough that people are actually able and want to be acquitted.

For me, the Maximum time a player should be in jail is 3 Hours, with no offline time included. Let me tell you why. 3 In-Game no offline hours is a LONG time, and it also is enough time to encourage people not to get into crime, as well as is a long enough time to inspire people to be acquitted. I also believe that, in order to not spam the system, and implying the maximum time is 3 hours, then the time you need to have in your sentence must be over 1 and a half hours in order to a request an acquittal.

Now we've also come to a bit of an obstacle, you've mentioned Jail Breaks, now although we don't want to inspire criminals to try to break out of jail, we do want to give them enough time to maybe try, and this should obviously be very difficult, and doing so can add some serious time to your sentence, I was thinking 1-2 more hours, thus making getting caught a real punishment, which warns prisoners not to try it. But anyways, if Jail Breaks want to actually be a thing, you might want to add 2 Hours to the maximum time, making 4-5.

Now for Jail Time, the 5-10 minutes cell separate from Prison, should be at max 15 minutes, maybe 20, reason being is all you're doing in a regular jail cell is waiting around and possibly talk to people, that's it, so unless they make some activities in a jail cell, it should be at max 15-20 minutes. And the crimes that put you in the jail cell should be incredibly minor, like speeding for example.

One last thing. The form of punishment in prison. Ex: Killing/Attacking a Prisoner, Killing/Attacking a Guard, Contraband, building an escape tunnel (If possible as well as could be tied to Jail Breaks) and we've already discussed Jail Breaks as a whole. Now obviously each crime is different, some more serious than than the other. Please note that killing is more serious than just plain attacking, thus getting more punishment time. The most serious crime would be Killing a Guard, least serious being Contraband. Now punishment for these could go many different ways, you could have time added onto your sentence, which would be spent just staying in regular prison as normal. Another (personally my favorite) would be adding time onto your sentence, except the time that was added would be spent in a Solitude System (which I hope the game will have) and after that time is spent, the rest of your sentence would be spent as normal. Now for Contraband you could have it go 2 ways: 1. No matter the contraband, you get X amount of time added to sentence. Or 2. Different types of contraband give different X amounts of time. Weapons being #1 and Drugs being #2 for example. It all would be a very nice system to have.

Thanks for reading and I hope you take my ideas into consideration, please remember this is all my opinion and some people may have a better idea than mine, so make sure you read everything! Thanks!

I like @157C approach, & I agree that 45 minutes is way too short. Also, as I've said on another post, if you've got people just running around guns a blazing causing havoc, politicians & police need to step in & do something about it. Those people need day or week long bans, "in prison", with no option of break outs. Just my opinion. You CAN NOT allow these types of crimes to happen in the type of game that you're hoping to accomplish. I'll throw my name in the hat for whatever political seat is needed to be sure that these laws are fierce for those that disrupt our lifestyle.

  6. If we are going to have governments, police, SWAT, etc, then when these acts occur, the president/governor must declare war on terrorism & they must act swiftly to take them down. Anyone RDMing would face the stiffest penalties available in game. I would recommend at least a week (real time) in jail. Also, if firearms are going to be hard to come by, they should be registered, & detectives should be able to investigate to find clues, & if a gun was left behind, or fingerprints or whatever, they should be able to do their job & find those responsible & bring them to justice.
