    - Being a SWAT trainer wont be a thing for official, you could RP it on a custom server. On official you basically do training as a tutorial.
    - Yes Police headquarters will have a shooting range. Not 100% about the kill-house, but i assume so, part of the training.
    - As for gear, cameras for under doors, standard swat issued firearms like shotguns, mp5, m4's, glocks.. tasers, flashbangs, etc.
    - Unknown, usually i believe with swat situations like the bank heist, it puts you and the robbers into some sort of a separate instance for balance purposes and
    - Unknown
    - Unknown
    - Notes: Swat officers will be normal officers until called upon a situation that requires SWAT. So for instance a bank heist happens, if you're a SWAT officer, you will get a notification that tells you that there's a bank heist going on, so you drive your cruiser over to the bank, and load up at the swat van that appears in front of the bank, and somehow get brought into another instance with the robbers and the swat, resolve the situation however that happens, then you go back to regular duty. The reasoning behind this is so you don't have police walking around with M4's whilst on their normal police duty, a balance thing. There might be an option to turn this stuff off in a community server.

    Hope this helped!

Thanks for some of the info! I appreciate it! I know about the SWAT being normal officers, it's in my original post, but thanks for confirming! I hope I can get the rest of these questions answered!

  2. Hey all, I haven't been on here for a while but let me introduce myself. My name is Chris, and since the Kickstarter of this game, I have wanted to be a SWAT Team Leader/Trainer. Why may you ask? I've played a lot of Garry's Mod and other RP intensive games, and all the more common I see people running in guns blazing, dying, or just looking completely idiotic. There would be no tactics, no gear for tactics (as it may not be supplied by the game or server) and just idiots running around shooting everything. While I know for a fact the idiots running around shooting everything won't be a problem, I still have a problem with the thought of people not knowing what they're doing and completely screwing up a situation. Let me start off by saying that I am familiar with how SWAT gets deployed, so let me explain how that will work in case people are confused or unfamiliar with how it's going to work. When a standoff or dangerous situation occurs, a SWAT van will be deployed outside the situation area. There, on duty or off-duty police officers who are a part of the SWAT division will go to the van and "suit up". No one is a permanent SWAT member and runs around with military grade weapons, you're a cop when SWAT isn't needed.

Here are my questions for the developers and people who are familiar with this information.

    • Will there be someone whose job is to specifically train members on SWAT? Training will include how to properly use certain gear, how to properly breach and clear a room, how to handle hostages, as well as how to handle certain specific situations.
    • Will the police headquarters have a shooting range, as well as will there be a location for a killhouse? For those who don't know, a killhouse is a specific location designed for training SWAT members on breaching and clearing, as well as to practice shooting. It's literally a house made to be breached and shot in.
    • What kind of gear will SWAT have available to them? Will it be anything like the game SWAT 4? I bring up SWAT 4 because it's one of my favorite games of all time, and is highly regarded as one of the best tactical shooters of all time. I would like to know if a good amount of gear will be available to SWAT. Specifically: Flashbangs, CS Gas, Stinger Grenades, C2 Breaching Charges, Breaching Shotguns, Optiwands, Drones, Door Wedges, Tasers, Pepper-Ball guns, Less-Lethal Shotguns, and lastly the ability to pick locked doors.
    • Will members of SWAT have their own private communication system, where a team-leader can communicate with his squad, vice-versa, and with each other?
    • Will the police and SWAT have access to cameras located inside situation areas to get a view on the hostiles, the layout, and possible hostages? Will they also be able to get a blueprint of the map/situation area?

These are all my questions I can think of right now. I realize there is a lot, and I don't expect a dev to answer all of these, although that would be amazing. If anyone at all is able to give me an answer that is confirmed by the devs up to now I would very much appreciate it. I take this job seriously and I want to have a lot of fun with it, thank you all for reading!

I'm quite sure you're not capable of reading properly.

I clearly stated that there was a lot of RP with 45 min jailtime.

You literally make up statements for me so you can counter them with unlogical shit. I've never seen someone lose counter arguing themselves, that's just pathetic.

If the prison time is over an hour and a half, that particular server will 100% fail after a max of 6 months.

"Limitation of arma 3 mods" you do realise Asylum doesn't even use mods, right? Wait of course you don't, all you do is talk out of your ass because you're too stupid to have common sense.

I also never use guns in arma, so you're completely wrong on that aspect of me being "pew pew die", there goes your miserable attempt at trying to be the psychologist.

Maybe instead of being one of those people that thinks they're so smart without knowing anything, try actually researching the game and you might not come off like a moron.

This isn't Altis Life, Asylum or any other half game you've been playing.......a lot of people will be playing this to do something other than break the law, 'changing what it means to be an mmo' ....or did you miss that bit in your research? Oh and here's another solid fact you won't believe, criminals are ordinary people who live ordinary lives, they don't run around shooting two dozen people a day. The limitations of Arma 3 mods meant that the Devs wanted something more than cops and robbers, so they started Identity, cops and robbers you can get in any amount of modded games.....this is meant to be something more than that, although I'm almost certain that cretins like yourself will do their best to make sure that the Asylum servers will be pew pew die die crap.

Both of you need to be quiet and calm down. This forum was made to discuss what people thought would be best relating to jail time, not to argue about what you guys think this game is about. I'm not a mod, but cut it out, no one wants to see hostility in a post that was made for open discussion.

I don't know...I just feel if I sell crystal meth, kill 5 men and blow up a home for the elderly....I get out in 45 mins? Hey but thats why where here to share opinions.

I never said you should get out in 45 minutes. My point was that a week is just way to long for almost all of the community, it would ruin the fun for most of us. You should go back to the first 1-2 pages of this forum post and read most of our opinions. Most of us don't want 45 minutes, we want a few hours, that's all.

I'd love if eventually it would be a week at most , especially with the fun activities.

A WEEK???? I don't care how fun prison could be, I'd say 95% of the community would not want to be in prison for not even close to that long!

Okay guys, the devs stated many times this game is cops and robbers at its heart.  You are concerned with people being encouraged to be criminals. You want strong stern punishment to prevent it.    This game is cops and robbers first, with nice fun options on the side.  3 hours in jail? 24 hours in jail?  No that is ridiculous.  Think of it as a wheel, cops need crime, the lawyers and civil servant players need crime.  If every player that wants to be a criminal is stuck in jail for anything over an hour guess who is having fun?  The prisoners with their riot minigames.  The cops have nothing to do neither do the lawyers.

Furthermore people like me who works full time and goes to school full time may only have 1 or 2 days a week they can play.  So if I get a prison sentence of 24 hours on my only day off or even 3 hours, I will quit this game so fast it's not even funny.  My little free time is too valuable to waste because a few players want to discourage crime in a (cops and robbers) focused game.  That's ridiculous

While I understand where you're coming from, and you are right to some degree, I disagree. While yes, this game is cops and robbers, there's a huge community that's not or doesn't want to be apart of that, they want to roleplay, which is totally understandable, and it's what the game presents itself to be. The prison system is going to be a fun system, according to the developers, so hopefully they make it so that being in prison is not a chore (Although it should be a little bit of both to encourage being a good citizen). I still stand by my large post I made a while back, and if you haven't seen that I recommend reading it, I cover just about everything there is to talk about relating to the prison system. So again, I understand your point, and the wheel analogy is a good one, but it just doesn't work where a large part of the community isn't going to be apart of the cops and robbers part.

    @157C

Mate are u mental speeding= 20 minutes in jail

that should never happen 5 hours in jail bruh your strict like calm down.

You clearly didn't read my big post. In a JAIL cell, the short termed stuff, 15 minutes is totally acceptable. But in PRISON, that's where all the major criminals go. Murder/Armed Robbery/etc.., for (what I would hope) a few hours depending on the crime. Don't put words in my mouth.

  8. So I'm a heavy RPer, and I'm hoping for some kind of needs system, you know, to promote players opening restaurants and to promote the purchase of food and water at supermarkets. So that's exactly what I'm asking, will there be a needs system in Identity that must be fulfilled in a "Sims" like way? Now I'm not talking super hardcore like using the bathroom or something, but will there be a need to Eat and Drink? I think that would be really cool and promote the purchase of food at either supermarkets or restaurants. Thanks!

    promotions are automated. just wait

Actually no, promotions are most likely not going to be automated. As Nutterbutter stated above, Identity won't have any form of AI in the game, so his theory is the most probable, I highly doubt it's automated.

    Click

I'd assume that some "FBI stuff" will be merged into police, no guarantees though.

Also undercover cops are a no-no.

I love the fact that you seem to have every single Identity tweet stored somewhere, very helpful!

  11. I want to be a SWAT member, however I don't want this to be like GMod where people go SWAT, and run into a combat situation untrained and end up getting shot. I was wondering, will there be a training academy with player instructors for members of SWAT? This would be incredibly immersive, realistic, and just flat out helpful. I'm also wondering the same for regular cops, but SWAT is mostly my focus.

maybe we could get like an ipad or something for entertainment

In regular Jail Cells, the iPad would be a genius immersive way to spend your time, but then again, it won't feel like you're getting punished, so I do disagree with it on some levels. In an actual prison, you should only have access to this if you have good behavior. I don't think Guards will let you serf the web after you just shanked someone.

For what I want to see in prisons, I really want a lot of this too be based off real world prisons and the game Prison Architect. I think that game is very realistic and a lot of the features in this game (except for the whole building the prison thing) would be really manageable and cool in this game. I also like the idea of a prison currency. Now a lot of prisons let prisoners earn real money from jobs and spend it in a prison made shop, but there could be prisoner-made currencies, like cigarettes or something. My main opinion is that they should take a lot of prison features from Prison Architect.

It would be good if it were like Australia's state of New South Wales laws how police are allowed to search both premises and vehicle if you are a registered firearms owner to ensure correct storage of the firearm.

Police should always be armed whilst on duty, just like in real life. I think someone said something about this on Identity's facebook page, but I can't find the comment at the moment.

I actually love this idea, it would be really neat to have, but it should be it's own thing, separate from the other warrant and arrest laws :D.

maybe jail time can be max 45 but prison 5-6 hours so you get to be in prison and play it out the gang wars and stuff it sounds like that a lot can happen in prison  so let it take time.

Well as stated above by Motown, things very short-lived (5-10 minutes) are spent in a jail cell, where you sit around and do nothing, which is fair and fine, anymore than that it would be boring. But for prison, that's the hours long stuff, if you read my big post you'll see where my opinion stands on this, but I think Jail Time (not prison time) should be max 15 minutes, you don't want people getting TOO bored. But the crimes to get into the regular jail have to be very minor (speeding for example).

  15. So my question is this, before the police arrest someone, unless of course the cop witnesses the crime or is called to the scene to arrest someone, will police require arrest warrants to arrest someone?

I'm also curious about housing, now obviously I think police should be able to enter homes to arrest someone, but with the whole metal detectors thing at the entrance of each housing door, will this be made possible? Or will it be that the owner of the house and the police are allowed to carry weapons into the home?

    Thanks!

Yeah, I want this game to be the best but at the same time I don't want to make hell on earth for the developers.

If I could help them I so would because this I'd the type of game I've been searching my life for. A strictly mmo where the people run the game and actually have a impact on the reality of the Games server

Agreed, we need the basics first before any details right away, although all this stuff (in my opinion) would be incredible, they need to focus on the big stuff first, and I hope that maybe one day they can get around to this.

It would make the work grind a little more entertaining and more acceptable to do that.

Games out for a month, you join finally, you talk to people, get a job, do that job, make money, do different objectives. Like I'm not expecting at the least to be able to change creations slightly but --like grab two buns, burger, ketchup, mayo, lettus, and it spawns in your inventory as a already built or in the process of building burger even.

Just tap buns a lot, then burgers, then act... Until you've got 7 burgers- throw them into the bag and take the bag out to the window.

Since food shouldn't decay in a game, I figure the food industry will excell magnificently.

Yeah I went a little far with the placing in the ingredients in a different order, but I do like the idea that you have to grab all the ingredients, and would have to cook the patty (I imagine it to be like Papa's Burgeria but that might be too much micro-managing). You would then have to put all the final ingredients (including the cooked patty) and place them on a preparation table and make the burger, not like a drag and drop thing, but something along the lines of you would press to start the preparation, click on the ingredient in your inventory, and it'll auto-assemble the burger.

I also would like to think food decaying would be a nice immersive thing, not to the extreme where if you buy a frozen ingredient or food it'll melt if not put in a refrigerator, but something along the lines of it'll decay if it's not eaten or placed in a refrigerator. I'd rather have the refrigerator actually do something rather than just either be cosmetic or a regular storage space.

  18. That's exactly what I was thinking, and I didn't recognize the fact that the world would be completely rid of AI, which makes me even happier, and I entirely agree with what you said, cheers!

EDIT: I also am wondering the same thing, sort of like making a burger, gotta put the patty on first, then mustard, and such, and eating it/preparing it differently might have different effects, although that's just an idea I had in my head, I think it'd be pretty cool.

  19. What's going on everyone! My name is 157C (obviously, and it's very creative ;) ), but if you see me around, all me Chris, and I take great pride in helping developers test their games, as well as I love being apart of communities that care as much as I do about video games :D. I'm a very active Beta tester for all kinds of games, such as, Triad Wars, Orcs Must Die! Unchained, Rainbow Six Siege (when it was in Beta), and many more! But anyways, you guys will be seeing me around a lot, I love giving my opinion on subjects that I find interesting or that might be needing of something more detailed/new. I also keep my post positive however, even if I'm replying to something I don't agree on, kind of like a Yes, and... attitude. Anyways, thanks for reading, I hope to be seeing people as active as I am/will be!!!
