I don't believe it was done like it was advertised. I think they done a quick game to get quick money. it is just exploring and shit, with a generated galaxy which is little work. Yeah it came out, but it was rushed if anything.

4 years of development and creating advanced procedural generation algorithms isn't some quick cash grab, the fact that you just called what they did little work is wildly ignorant.

Not a great comparison really, not when you consider that 88% of NMS player base quit in the first week & it's launch and reception have been a total disaster.

How is it not a great comparison? both are indie games made by small teams, how are you bringing up NMS launch statistic in a comparison when Identity isnt even close to launching? Im comparing Dev cycles and by a year in NMS had much more done by a smaller team. People liking the game doesnt change how complex and ambitious it was for a an indie dev similar to Identity.

No mans sky had around 15 developers working on it I thought?

I mean not 15 but there is 10 people who developed "No Mans Sky"

Also yes, we have not seen so much that we can give too much credit to them, but they have been working and like someone else said, a lot of them work on different games too and so are not always working on Identity.

No Mans Sky was originally a 4 man team for the first year and change i believe.

    <3 haha you funny.

And Kale have you done 3d game development before? or do you just sit there tugging away at your pc playing games?

Cut the white knight bullshit, that argument is ridiculous, i dont need to have developed a game myself to criticize.

GTA5 was in production since 2008 and was only released in 2013 with nothing shown. And yet people still loved it.

You're seriously not comparing the development of the biggest AAA game in existence to an indie MMO... Get real compare this to No Mans Sky, a year into Development they already had a nice big trailer with fewer devs working on it at the time, almost 2 years of dev time here and nothing but the concept trailer.

I think the current pace is fine. In a year they've made an island, buildings, character models and much more. With just a small team and under 200,000 dollars. They've made terrific progress

No, in a year we've seen some buildings, and models. we have absolutely no idea what the rest of the islands progress looks like or even what the rest of this town looks like, you're giving them too much credit for progress we dont even know if they made.

As for the screens, buildings look nice, hopefully it's done in the next few months.

It's funny isn't it, the amount of ignorance on the internet. Just two minutes looking came up with this........

Dragon Age Origins (2004-09) 5 years to develop

Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind (1996-2002) 6 years to develop

    L.A. Noire (2004-2011) 7 years to develop

............and the list is huge, over 30 games that took five years or more to get out, most of them from huge developers with decades of experience in making games. And yet here you are, like the other self proclaimed experts, telling us 'facts' that in reality, you just made up in your head because you do not have the first clue what you are talking about.

As for the rest, you guys REALLY need to stop replying to these posts, open your eyes, see the three themes that run through them all (no video, Motown is a scammer, and the awful english) and work the rest out for yourselves.

how stupid do you sound i said two years of development is enough for a few minutes of footage not for the entire game to be finished, fucking read

This has gone on for too long. This thread is tearing the community apart and its turning a great community into a dark shadow of what it once was. The devolpers have understood our frustration with the updates and they have acknowledge us. I see no point in continuing this thread unless we want to keep insulting each other. Everyone here can have there opinions and I'm not saying your opinion is wrong, but if you have a problem or a concern you should PM the dev's or send them a message on Twitter. I think I can speak for everyone when I say we should just stop the hate speech and just move forward.

Acknowledging and appeasing are two different things, if they'd show us some actual fucking progress we'd gladly stop complaining. I've already contacted them through twitter weeks ago and never received a response, that's shady as hell.

is there a discussion starting? thought @JamesLuck01 has written that there is a search bar to search for facts...

    welp, here a twitter post:

and now screw everything and start discussing about discussions

He said that two months ago, and I'm sure he'll say that two months from now. I pressed them and asked whats going on behind the scenes because this is shady and i got no response after about two weeks. The dumbest thing anyone here can do is actually trust them, because they've done nothing to earn that trust.

As I said, the boring stuff (and time consuming stuff) is being done now, I would rather the creators not spamming my twitter with code from the engine etc.

Even if there are issues going on with production, Panicking will only put more pressure on the devs. I doubt that rage and anger spam will make them want to continue developing.

How do you know what's going on right now? They haven't disclosed that information. Everyone needs to be vocal and demand to see real progress, else I urge people to start looking into getting a refund. The fact that this is a kickstarter and literally no progress has been displayed in this amount of time beside some ingame models is absolutely unacceptable. This isn't some cute project that they can take their time on and keep everything behind curtains, people invested in them and expect to see progress.

  11. No footage after over a year and half is definitely reason for worry, a picture of a different model every few weeks/months isn't really proof that much is getting done, most models they've been showing could be done in a day. Just yesterday on twitter they said that there was still no ETA on the video, and I'm sorry to say but for people who don't think something is up they have to be truly gullible.

How about just everyone stop giving a estimate time frame unless you know how hard it is to create a game and how long it takes (those who actually have tried)

I don't think it matters how hard it is or how long it takes, what the issue is is we haven't received an update in over 3 months despite being told that updates would be regular and they continue to say that the game is on track for a 2017 beta release when we're more than halfway through 2016 and haven't seen anything that remotely suggests that's a possibility. The problem isn't how long they're taking it's how they're keeping everyone in the dark and have honestly nothing to show for all the talk. The lack of trust is completely normal considering many past Kickstarter games have been canned after getting funded. They either need to come out and admit that an early 2017 beta was too ambitious for a tiny team and show us at least some progress or come out and prove us completely wrong.

In all seriousness, what the happened? No blog update for nearly 3 months, the video is nowhere to be seen, seriously questioning what is going on behind the scenes, I've been following since 2014 and the absolute minimal updates is worrying.
