Posted December 11, 2017 (edited) Hey, I have been following this game for some time now and I think having a permadeath feature in the finished game would help maintain order in the world. If the players know that there is permadeath then they will refrain from killing random players, which will make criminals have to actually use planning and tactics when committing crimes. It will also provide a deeper level of complexity to surviving. Instead of just respawning you lose everything. That way the amount of achievements a character has shows just how experienced they are in the game. There should also be a complex business management system that involves hiring not only other players, but NPCs as well. If you are able to give them instructions on what to do then they could run the business when are not there. For example, you could have an if, then, interface where you could give them a situation that could happen when you are gone or if you die, then you could give them an action to do if that situation occurs. This way, if you die and you made all the necessary precautions for this situation (who takes your place, who the company is left to, etc.), then when you make a new citizen due to the permadeath system, you could go back and see all the work that you did as a consumer, instead of the boss running the company. Maybe even try to go work there and become the head of the company again. Edited December 11, 2017 by SargentArtez

As for hiring NPC's, well that is not immersive and yes you may get NPC's in at the tills of the shops but you cannot hire NPC's. That ruins the interactions you can get out of people because you can't get a reaction out of NPC's as they are all "scripted", this will break immersion and so it is not a viable option. There will be little to no NPC's which will be at tills in shops and other vendors but roaming AI.
