Servers are down right now, so that's why you can't play. This can't be a prank for three big reasons:

    1. Steam, a highly reputable and respected company, has agreed to license and publish this game. If Steam thought this game was going to mess with us all, they wouldn't release it. They wouldn't gain enough money to repair the damage it would do to their reputation. Steam has bad games, but a bad game is different from a prank or scam.

    2. The Devs entire livelihoods depend on this going well. Sure, they made a ton of cash, but they've been using it for this game. We're seeing content, and that has to come from somewhere. We know they're paying people and have a team. They didn't take the money and go golfing. If this was a scam, then the funds would stop coming once everyone caught on. You can't fool people forever. Putting it on Steam was the exact moment this couldn' be a sham anymore. We'd realize it was fake the moment we got to play, then money would stop coming. it this wasn't real then steam would never be involved. If they dangled it above us, then I'd be more inclined to believe it wasn't really what they said it was. Their careers would be over if they messed with all of us.

3.There are a lot of people supporting this. A  lot of unnamed, unknown people, who could be able to do anything. What if a very powerful, affluent person was scammed? What would they do to Asylum? Even throngs of irate, offended people are threatening on the internet. We're too much of an unknown variable to toy with.

Of course, if you don't agree with me, I understand. This is what I firmly believe, though.

You must be new to Steam :D

I like your optimism but all your points can be used towards games that have failed in the past. It's obviously not a "prank" but it's starting to become a scam. Weather the devs intended it to or not is debatable but people who have backed the kickstarter and have backed the game have every right to feel like they are getting scammed currently.

I have hope they will make it, and even if they don't it will probably be for the better - I just want to make sure they do a good job so it isn't bad when it does come out

    It really wouldn't be.

What they need to do is stop giving dates/months out when stuff will get released because they're clearly struggling to stick to them. Giving people rough dates and then not delivering is hurting them more than if they were to deliver it and there be a bug or some issue. We all know the modules aren't the finished project and are the earliest of early testing modules so anyone who would even bother to complain about something isn't worth it anyway.

  3. The Devs really need to start doing something to keep people in the loop, screen shots or something.. the only other game I am following is Chronicles of Elyria and they are putting out much more info on their game so my hype for that is a lot more than identity even though identity was the main thing I was looking forward to.

@sp00f_IOM Yes, you can steal deliveries for example, you could be a road bandit sort of thing and attack delivery trucks on the road and sell the items on that you take.

How would it work if you purchase a sofa for example and a real player delivers it (like has been mentioned before) could you attempt to steal that and if so what happens to the sofa.

  5. From the Dev blog, they're going to release a video of gameplay and then videos of the Town Centre after it... I don't think the Town Centre module is coming for quite a while. Probably next year.

Well, before you start up you will need to have money to get started and so opening a business won't be a quick thing at the start.

Aye, I thought that would be the case anyway was just curious if the devs have shed any light on roughly the costs etc if you can start a small business with the money you start with etc. I will end up starting one if the costs aren't too ridiculous to actually make some profit.

  7. I've got a few questions for people who may know more but I love the idea of being bale to design and sell your own clothes... I'm just curious on how it will all work as there are multiple people advertising their clothing line.

    • 1st - How will it work cost wise, to start a business like this will you purchase blank T-shirts/shirts/shoes etc and then design them and set a price? So to start a business like this you'll need to start off with quite a bit of money?

2nd - Is there a 'quality' of the item, for example people advertising "high end" stuff would no doubt cost more money to buy so will it state a quality if you hover over the item, although it will do nothing to the looks of the shirt but it should you give it to someone it could be labeled 'low' 'medium' 'high' for example.

I'd love to be able to set up a business in this area but I don't want to plan it all out only for the release of the game I cannot afford or come close to starting something up.

    Thanks

  8. Would be cool if there was an event where animals broke out and everyone was equipped with tranq guns and had to round them all up and work together to get them back in.

  9. I'm disappointed about the wait of course, they said a date and missed it by a long time. I understand the side of people who are getting angry but they need to chill out a bit as this is an indie game. I also think people who are demanding people to wait and be patient need to chill as well as we're entitled to be frustrated that we were given a date and it has been missed. Still, it's not going to make me doubt the game or ask for a refund.

I'm just excited to experience some of the cool features of the game that are made. I more or less want to see if this game is what i'm picturing in my head.

And I do agree there needs to be an age limit. Allowing little kids that most likely only ever play call of duty and grand theft auto to play a realistic role playing game is not going to work out. I have over 5000 hours on arma 2/3 life servers and very young immature players. most of the time, ruin the experience.

The games you've mentioned (COD, GTA) both have age limits.... Doesn't stop them.

  11. Hey, I've been reading these forums for a while now and I'm excited to give Identity a go.

With regards to the limited time to purchase does anyone know when that will end? I'm hoping to buy this game end of December, beginning of Jan.
