The website is fairly new and has some bugs... the taks tracker stuck on 2 days is one of them

Then that means it should be all the more mandatory that we get actual updates. The tracker is a waste anyway (due to lack of clarity about what's going on), but if even that isn't going to work, then it needs to be rectified with written updates (which is what should be happening in the first place).

I dont really understand how people can think this game is fake. This is one of the few games that developer's are trying to give us a game worthy of these PC's we play on...Rockstar, Ubisoft, or blizzard, well established and veteran developer's that give us games from console that they simply port for PC...these guys are trying to give us a game more massive than what Red Dead Redemption 2 will be for console. Notice how Rockstar isnt releasing RDR2 for PC, and they still havent released the first one for PC. But these guys have taken 8 YEARS, to make a game that wont even be released on PC, with all their resources and experience. But yea let's cry, complain, and sow seeds of doubt that it's been 2 years and they arent close to having a finished product...I'm actually getting tired of defending this game to ppl that dont understand the concept of Early Access games, and crowdfunding. It's not like the developer's appreciate any of it anyway, and lots of these kids here are treating the forum's like bully's in school. So screw it...but I can tell u this much...It's this simple... if we believe in their vision we support it...If you don't then go support a game u do believe in...either way there is no need to take a dump on what they are trying to achieve for PC gaming. Not to mention people judging how long this game should take to create from scratch, When it takes veteran developers with infinite resources and manpower years to make games for console that are a fraction of the size they want for Identity

If it is true that they're trying to surpass those games, this is more a reason to be worried than excited. As a game developer myself, I can tell you that overreaching what you can actually deliver 99% of the time results in game dev Hell or massive disappointment in the final product.

  3. Something more official needs to be done for the multi-threading of similar topics to stop. No, people shouldn't have to use forum search to find nuggets of information here and there when it should be made readily available on-site or on a dev blog. It is on the developers' shoulders to provide this information, not a mod, and these threads would be drastically reduced if the developers would take a few minutes out to do their job (and yes, keeping a playerbase updated OFFICIALLY on the whys and hows and whens IS the job of the developer, even if they give a community manager the power to make official postings about it and no I don't mean answering questions in the myriad forum threads. I mean actual, bonafide updates)

Complaining at the OP does nothing, as this is primarily a developer issue at the core. I don't like the repeat topics either, but there's an easy way to control this that's not being taken. For whatever reason. If updates aren't going to be done, maybe a Discourse section of forums could be put into place to funnel these sorts of topics?

Hey this is just my personal opinion but I think this game is eventually going to happen it's just that they really have a shitty communication with their supporters and don't have much care for us as their tracker is definitely not updated and they just pretend to update it to "please" the supporters +(they're probably ashamed or something because they are never on track and whatnot)

I'd be more ashamed that I'm not forthcoming than I am about falling behind. And I promise supporters would be more satisfied with disappointing news where developers are open about it, than deadlines going by with nothing and devs just dumping more promises to fill in the gap.

This. I have run many websites and forums before (many more active than this) and it is nearly impossible to "accidentally ban" someone. I hope Psisyn isn't buying that, or at least is somewhat skeptical.

  6. No matter how you slice it, a competent development team would have more to show in 3 years time OR have an explanation as to why they do not. This is pretty irrefutable in the real world of game development. So I can understand the frustration of those who have poured money and faith into this game for so very little transparency in return.

This is especially true if they are using Unreal engine or any pre-made engine for the backbone of the project. I'm not saying a game isn't being made, but comparing it to an actual competent team developing AAA games is beyond asinine. There's such a thing as a middle ground where people can be in the reality of what's happening. You have people with their head in the clouds going full support, pessimists screaming "scam", but there is that middle ground where we can both see a product is being made, but it's definitely not up to scratch for something with this amount of funding behind it and 3+ years in.

you cant possibly compare SCUM to identity, SCUM is a whole other game franchise with different mechanics. Saying "have you seen the mechanics of SCUM" is useless because you cant simply compare the mechanics of two completely different games... And how do you even know how much funding SCUM has? I cant find any details regarding their funds whatsoever.

Well you are wrong about one thing - you CAN compare mechanics to two different games~ comparing and contrasting mechanics and how well they're implemented isn't locked into genre-specific view?

  8. Actually, mod development IS a good doorway into game development. So I'm unsure why you think mod development is a strike against someone making a game. It's not a prerequisite into game development, but it is a good prep to building your own games, and definitely not detrimental to that effect. (I'm a game dev too. Didn't start out in modding scene, but I know some modders who went on to become pretty nice full-fledged developers!)

  9. I know some of them you will get other versions of in-game, but some of the store items are exclusive in their layout/aesthetics. For example you'll be able to get a car with the same speed in-game only, but that particular LOOK of car in the store is store exclusive.

I'm actually currently busy with a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure game, that I'll be releasing on Android, Amazon and IOS.
Will have an open alpha in the coming weeks actually.
I have dabbled with ORPG engines as well, 3D engines and such, was fun to do, but never became something serious

What's your game about? I'm interested.

My ORPG is 2D pixel art (I prefer stylized 2D games overall) and is actually a fan game (thus a hobby project) of Dragon Quest. Because the west got screwed out of having the official MMORPG Dragon Quest game. I decided to make mine based off of the 1989 Dragon Quest anime, though.

My tactical game is all original and we're trying to make the plot super simplistic and make it feel "oldschool" while introducing a couple of fresh newer things. It's called Rune Divers, but is in extremely early development at this point. We plan to make a demo and then start up a Kickstarter/crowdfunding to fund the rest.

Like what shieksdee said why buy a personal number I know it seems call but it's just a number may aswel just stick with the number your assigned with

Well other than it just being easy to remember off of the top of your head without having to go to phone settings etc. it can be used for purely something like..........if you want 666 in your number for example, or numbers that correspond to letters to spell something out. If businesses or business phones are implemented that would be cool to use for that.

  12. Hai! I was wondering: who in all of you also develop your own games?

I'm learning C# at the moment and developing 2 games, a hobby ORPG on Intersect engine, and a commercial tactical/strategy RPG with a lil oldschool flavor to it. Feel free to share your game dev experiences and stuff here, because I love to find new friends into the same passions as I am.

uhh actually they did, it was one of the dev blogs where they said updates to the tracker will be daily and no task should take more than a few days to complete. that's why everyone was speculating June - august release date

Yep. They did make promises like that. Sadly, the tracker is a bust anyway........because it's simply too little information to give us a clear picture. Apparently someone had the same concern as me and asked them and they stated they'll be doing more frequent dev blogs soon or something, which I hope is true. (if they include relevant information instead of things like......promising to update the tracker more etc.)

  14. Nah, not a scam in the sense of the word. These guys are just in over their heads and have poor skills when it comes to management and funds, and communication is nonexistent. I agree the release date is certainly not imminent............but it's far from the scam the clickbait title kinda of hints at. :P

I think release is going to be a mess too. (especially for those hyping it up as if it's made by a AAA-title making company)  In the final release (after probably years to come tbh) I think it'll be an alright title for a seemingly relatively inexperienced team's first foray into complete conceptualization and game making. It is worrisome about their obvious misappropriation of funds (I consider it that) and that they've only managed this in 3+ years, but I think it will be released eventually and we will have a product, even if it is a ghost of the idea it was hyped to be.

I knew it was over when they upgraded their office. It was way to extravagant and luxurious way too early in their rise. They've created such a large overhead with very little capitol. Unless they have private investors other than the backers, I didn't see their company sustaining itself without a product to sell.

Edit: Here is what they're spending our money on, for anyone who hasn't seen it.

Well.............that explains a few things. Why not invest that money directly into the game, release it, and use the profit from the game to build a fancy office/company stuff? That's semi what my indie dev team is doing (although we haven't even set to crowd funding yet - we want a demo first for backers to play! xD )

Thats funny because you quoted my exact words

I know? I read the whole topic? But I wasn't replying to anyone just saying that I did think it was BS but not for OP reasons (and I quoted them too)...............o 3o

  17. Just now, dagtag said:

Did you even read the original post? He said it was a way to buy time so i was going off from that...

I read that, but it doesn't mean I agree with it. I didn't specifically quote anyone I was replying to, I was replying in general and touching on that point. o .o That I DO think it is BS, but NOT for the reason OP states.

  18. The tracker is bs, not because it's "a way to shut people up" in the sense that it is 100% falsified (at least I don't believe so.......) but in that it lacks clear data. You literally have to travel all over the forum to see exactly what's up and what's being worked on as well as visit 4732378267 other places to see how far along it is, and that's simply just not good practice. Which leads to multiple threads about this being made, because players are being kept in the dark due to how far spread the data is they have to get in order to know what's going on.

When ACTUAL dev blogs start being made, honest ones, ones with actual information, and the website is actually being updated with accurate and complete information, is when players will take things seriously. The tracker is just meh without all of that backing it up. Fact.

  19. Yeah I've been wanting to see this, how each apartment differs especially in pledges packages. It's hard to tell what i want until I can see some examples of how they differ for each tier.

Apparently there's a normal studio apartment and a pledger studio apartment, then also luxury apartments with 1-howevermany bedrooms extra. I wish we could have examples of each shown.

  20. I'm pretty sure the person said the design was subject to changes or something when they showed me, meaning they'd look possibly different. They said I should wait for some "updated" images, or something like that, but I never saw them if there were any.

I could be mis-remembering, but yeah.
