yeah you are not educated on how nine to five works... they buy assets, asylum creates their assets

We're comparing products here, and it definitely should not take 4 years to make some assets and make a game on Unreal Engine, it's not built from scratch. If a bought asset game is going to come out before the game actually in development and be a better product then why blow money on the game in development which shows no promise of being done in the next 10 years.

Proof that building a game does NOT take as long as identity says it will. Some of the stuff may not feel polished on this trailer but they got more done in less than a year than identity has gotten done in how many?

Just saying theres other options for yall who want a similar game but don't want to wait another 10 years for a No Mans Sky

I don’t think it will be a big problem. Short Ik you come from SantosRP like me.  But there will be so many actual good civilian type jobs in identity that less players will feel the need to turn towards crime to make money.

Lmao santosRP was all criminals or food shops. That shit was so fun in alpha, died later though because they made it too grindy. Cop chases and situations were always fun though

    Here's how I see it:
There was no way in hell they were going to get it done by the first deadline.  And if I recall, they even said in the kickstarter video "Two years should be plenty of time".  They kept us in the dark for over a year before a bunch of people started calling the game a scam and they FINALLY started a dev blog.  Now, I can see feeling like they don't need to update the players. "It's done when it's done" type of thing, which is what you see a lot of in private servers for various games.  My issue with it however, is that we are not just players.  A large majority of us either backed it on kickstarter or pledged into it, essentially making us investors.  As investors, we deserve to know what is going on.  Like it was stated above, there was a beta release date set in the spring, and a day or two before it was pushed, then it was pushed a second time to "Whenever its ready".   This is coming back to the whole leaving the investors in the dark again.  Why would they wait until the absolute LAST MINUTE (twice) to say it needs more work?  Its been a few months since that has happened, so obviously they were nowhere near ready to release the game.  It would be like you hiring someone to rennovate your house, you are told you can move in on the 15th of July, and on the 14th they say "We're waiting on paint. give us another week" and half a year goes by with no update.

It's not really about just being patient when we paid money (and effectively funded this project), were promised a deadline then left in the dark.  Try that at work and see what happens....

We've seen gameplay, its not like they built their engine from scratch, its not like they are building complex plotlines with multiple characters, the thing that I could understand taking the most work is probably map design and building, and they haven't even started from what I've seen.

They said first module would be out after a short delay less than a week before, what is this? Did they not even start? What kind of work are they even doing? Its not like the modeling team can't model while the other team makes the rest of the game, its not a step by step process. Animations still suck and all they said is that they had to import them or some shit.

    i very much doubt it...

they will cut and run. A lot of that money will have been spend developing the game so will already be gone.

Just had 2 of the chaps I was going to play with apply for refunds. its such a shame, the game has/had so much promise.

They say the game needs more funding and money but they've already made this much with a small team and they act like they're paying anyone except themselves, they're a small dev team they don't need more funding, its been more than enough to make the game

From what i was told you can only go to prison for 45 minutes but you can stay longer if you choose. What i personally think is that this time should be adjusted mainly because a person that commits triple homicide should have to stay in longer like for example 3 days and i'm not talking about  in game days im talking irl days which only counts when you're in game, for example lets say i play 5 hours a day serving a 3 day period id be in prison for close to 14 days irl. This makes it so people fear to go to prison or they tend to be more careful so they don't get caught.

LMK what you guys think because i think this should be a thing

Being jailed for that time would make people quit the game and not get back on. Making the prison times longer would mean people will just prefer to die instead, which will always happen because the death timer won't be 45 minutes. Also crimes tend to add up, generally you won't be arrested for one homicide, you'll be arrested for evading, robbery, multiple homicides to avoid arrest, ect. Going to jail for more than like 45 minutes is excessive, 45 minutes is fine because thats enough time for it to matter, but still not too much time so I can just go make myself a sandwich and watch some TV or do something else and leave my PC on if I don't feel like doing whatever minigame they have for prison, which I have a feeling its going to be a bunch of people just talking/trolling because what else do you have to do.

They will try accommodate lower end PC's but as it stands, they say minimum 750ti. Which is quite low end to be fair and is also very reasonable. However the Community Manager is doing his own little hobby thing and bought a low end spec PC to see how low end pc's can run on it. Which is entirely his own hobby project that he is doing on his own. He will get bench marks for it too when Town Square is out. Remember though that the Town Square is a small piece of the full game and so even if the minimum for the game is a 750ti or below now, it could change in the future.

Thats actually really good and I'm impressed he's actually bothering with testing it on his own

I'm not forgetting that games can die... however it isn't often the case where games die because players can't play at 300FPS on ultra low graphic settings.

While I agree, rendering individual blades of grass in town square isn't really necessary... however, if you put that same graphic-altering scenario in the wilderness, and you have players hiding in long, individual blades of grass, that's where it becomes less about graphic-altering, and more about game-altering.
If on low settings, or having options to remove those blades is available, that can be the difference between a criminal being completely hidden, or completely exposed, and be based on what settings you have - which removes aspects of gameplay which should not be available in a game designed to be as immersive as this game intends.

You're right and I think thats a really good stance to have on it.

To be honest, I'd prefer it to be the other way around... purely because players tend to be complete dicks these days that will do anything to gain an advantage over someone when it comes to multiplayer. In PUBG, players would turn off all additional texturing and detail, and that ultimately led to you thinking you're safe hiding in a bush, but on the "cheats" screen, you're sat still out in the open fully exposed... this shouldn't be the case in an immersive game, you can't just turn bushes off IRL, so you shouldn't have that option in this game imo, or to turn off a lot of detail that could otherwise alter the way the game is played.

Don't completely remove anything from the game just turn down textures to be easier on your graphics card, and dang sorry I don't want to see every individual blade of grass

I think y'all are forgetting games can die, and if the playerbase is only people with good PCs thats really bad for the game, and its on unreal engine, they didn't make their own so we can generally know what to expect, and I hope they aren't just throwing a million things in the game while completely ignoring anyone with lower end PCs

This post was literally just discussing issues people have in the community and I was enjoying hearing other peoples opinions on the state of the game. Nothing said in here was straight "Fuck this game" or anything, so don't close it when some people are trying to have a conversation just because you don't like it.

    TL:DR ( too long didn't read )

The game is fine, it's a work in progress and is almost ready. Yes the devs didn't meet their deadlines but it wasn't really a deadline and that's why they introduced the dev tracker so we could see how long is left. Secondly the town square is by no means a beta module, it's a pre-alpha module and the beta comes after all 3 modules have released.

The devs Haven't been good at communicating in the past but are trying to be better now, to be honest what would you rather have? Devs working hard on the game or not working as hard because they're giving us an update every 5 seconds?

In other words have patience like the rest of us and relax. It'll be ready when the remaining tasks are finished, the new website will hopefully launch at the same time and once the steam verification process has been approved we'll be able to play town square.

Everybody I've talked to said they will not buy the game right now even if they save money because they don't even know if its gonna be done, they don't believe the devs will come out with a real product and they have no trust for a company who is on their first game. If there was more public relations, feedback, or even talk between the community and the devs were more transparent on their game and people actually knew they were working for it and that it was going to be a good product then people would buy it, and everyone I've met outside of this forum also agrees if they preorder, buy the game, for $15, they should get beta access, no company ever has made you pay for beta access (because right now you're valuing beta access at $15 the cost of the actual game), and don't even talk about the modules, they're minigames, they're minigames to show how development is going, they're not real products, but they're good fun and a good demo. Not to mention they haven't met one deadline.

Those are the reasons people are skeptical of the game and there would be a lot more preorders and funding if these issues were solved

Pfft 45 is too much my ass, come back to me when you spend 500 on the VIP package like a lot of players have.

Thats a fr waste of money for some virtual dollars/cars/house

You need to see it this way. It's 40$ for just Arma 3. What about all the DLC's? One DLC is worth 9.99€ if they are not on sale. Times that with 7, and you've spent 69.93€ just on the DLC's. So them asking 45$ for identity later down the road is a reasonable price.

You got a point, it depends on just how much content they really do put in the game, and I hope its a lot more than what they're just talking and showcasing because it sounds a lot like "SantosRP" from gmod with some extra added in systems and a bigger map

But the game is still in early early development so its a little harsh for me to judge so quick tbh, I still think $45 is a bit much for a company's first game, no matter how ambitious, and I'm not against people getting their money I'm concerned with the player activity of the game if it costs $45, a lot of people will shy away from it with that pricetag

  13. The work is not groundbreaking, groundbreaking is an exaggeration for anything here really. Its a great idea for a game, doesn't mean it should take this long. Its fine for it to take this long, whatever, work at your own pace, fuck it. The issue here is that they advertise dates they KNOW they can't keep up with just to look good. The player textures from the town square look like action figures and they move like them too is my issue right now.

No they shouldn’t, you should have to be in game for your time to count.  Others that’d never dumb and people would just log.

Then prison should actually be interesting and not a minigame then, they say thats gonna happen but I've never seen it done well before so

  15. Have a mic, I can help make sure operations or deliverys and security go smoothly, as well as make sure buildings are bought and work is going through. I am also more than capable of making sales myself

  16. Before they have said that police can go to the scene of a murder, and if there is evidence gather it, and then something about tracking the criminal or something

What counts as evidence? Murderer's blood? Shell casings? Fingerprints?
