    Obviously people will break rules regardless.  Something like that is called "OOC" Out of Character and surly breaks the roleplay.

    There's no way to prevent this from happening.
    Honour rules have no place in genuine games... the game has to have built in functionality to bypass the necessity for these third-party features that breach the role.

    While nothing stops players from using this... doesn't it remove from the role-play experience and overall immersiveness of the game?

    If you lose access to your phone, surely being a true "Kingpin" would mean you'd have certain cops on your payroll anyway, and those cops would visit the prison to relay your messages... or visitation at the prisons would be something that allows you to send your orders out (so long as your communications aren't monitored or are in code)?

    Simply being the founding member of a gang of criminals does not make you a Kingpin... it's your outreach of power as a criminal, and your general "Untouchable" status that defines you as a Kingpin as you're never tied to the crimes yourself.

    Don't completely remove anything from the game just turn down textures to be easier on your graphics card, and dang sorry I don't want to see every individual blade of grass

    I think y'all are forgetting games can die, and if the playerbase is only people with good PCs thats really bad for the game, and its on unreal engine, they didn't make their own so we can generally know what to expect, and I hope they aren't just throwing a million things in the game while completely ignoring anyone with lower end PCs

    I'm not forgetting that games can die... however it isn't often the case where games die because players can't play at 300FPS on ultra low graphic settings.

    While I agree, rendering individual blades of grass in town square isn't really necessary... however, if you put that same graphic-altering scenario in the wilderness, and you have players hiding in long, individual blades of grass, that's where it becomes less about graphic-altering, and more about game-altering.
    If on low settings, or having options to remove those blades is available, that can be the difference between a criminal being completely hidden, or completely exposed, and be based on what settings you have - which removes aspects of gameplay which should not be available in a game designed to be as immersive as this game intends.

  4. You have to think; how would counterfeit money serve the game?
    With your description it would be in your inventory as "Counterfeit money"... so when you pay someone it, either A: it would just go straight into their bank and become valid money (or be rejected by the bank, and the player would be like "Ok, so pay me actual money this time")... or B: it would enter their inventory as "Counterfeit money" and therefore lose it's purpose instantly since the player would see their actual balance hasn't increased and they now have "Counterfeit money" in their inventory...

    The only possible way I could see this serving any purpose at all would be with the following;
    1. It simply adds value to your cash wallet and isn't classed as an additional item but something like a "hidden item".
    2. Once a player tries to deposit the funds in the bank, the money gets flagged, they lose the money, and end up being wanted for counterfeiting (whether the player created the money or not is irrelevant, since they tried to deposit it in a bank).
    3. Certain shops have the ability to test for counterfeit money, and refuse you access to buying goods until you have no counterfeit notes.
    4. Players have no way to detect counterfeit money until they either go into the shop, or bank, (otherwise counterfeit money would again serve no purpose since players would just naturally check all funds coming into them after the first time they get scammed).
    5. It should cost around 80% of face value to produce the counterfeit money, so it isn't manipulated (Imagine someone making 30,000,000 in counterfeit and it costing next to nothing to do so? They'd flood the server with counterfeits and no players would be able to do anything about it until that player gets caught for counterfeiting - it'd run the whole market into the ground since everyone would have given the counterfeit player all their items and products for free).

    Ultimately though, you have to think of the bigger picture... say all of the above was implemented, how often would the counterfeit system be used, and how effective would it actually be? It'd be a fair bit of coding to establish it, and would the effort put in justify the return?
    While it sounds a unique idea, and there's room for expansion on it (levels of counterfeit quality, and chance of it being detected in shops etc), aside from itself being a "money cheat" in a sense, it could cause more problems in the game than it would create viable scenarios.

  5. What would you prefer... the game be delayed a further year to two years, or the game be released with basic animations that get upgraded over time?

    The question is kind of rhetorical to be honest...
    To add to my point, Arma3 had basic animations to begin with when it launched, and didn't release it's newer animations until 2-3 years later which used a different animation system. Releasing the game ahead of perfecting animations didn't stop people loving the Altis Life mod, and getting life-like animations is something that can be extremely costly. Chances are, with only a budget of $1.24m so far, I would expect that Asylum would be better off releasing first and generating revenue, and then patching the animations at a later date once financially able to do so.

  6. I think this topic is being sidetracked again towards issues with development...
    Again, to clarify, I don't have any problems with development progress, it is purely the level at which information is distributed and how it is distributed which I have issues with.
    It's like a treasure hunt to try find out what progress has been made, which should not be the case.

    I'm sure there are countless other topics to complain about development and not meeting goals.

    What will give players the incentive to become "informants" though? I can imagine MAYBE if all their wealth, real estate, and cars were at steak, maybe, but even then who's not willing to serve 45 minutes in jail? I guess maybe the private servers might add life sentences, basically ending any chance your character can do anything unless they flip. If there was actual purpose to giving info away to the FBI, that would be really intriguing.

    Discrete payroll? Benefits? Inside information?
    I mean, the list goes on... being a Private Investigator simply means you establish a network yourself to speak with people. People don't have to want to speak with the police, but speaking with a P.I. could mean they benefit financially, or the P.I. buries some of their evidence, or gives them something valuable in return.

    It was simply an observation on the "Information shop" business that was mentioned. If you're a publicly known shop for double dealing, no one will trust you. If you're a "certified" P.I. and have your own network, you work on a contract basis and underline that you can't work for the people you're investigating etc... You can easily obtain yourself a good reputation and be paid well for services rendered, which ultimately could filter down to your informants.

  8. Isn't this because the server you're playing in there is heavily modded with added in vehicle objects?

    I ran an AL server, and desync driving only really occurred when;
    1. Players had immense lag spikes (from like 50-500ms ping)
    2. Players had a player in their car that had immense lag spikes
    3. Vehicles somehow managed to glitch inside one another (through a momentary blip of lag/desync)

    From driving on my server back in the day, there weren't any incidents like this...

    I don't know where you guys are getting your paramedic ideas xD Those all look like Lifeflight or European outfitted paramedics.
    This is what a typical paramedic looks like.

    I didn't know the basis for a paramedic's image was American only?
    That said... considering the range of differences from Paramedic uniforms in America in the above posts... I'd think the Green+Yellow+High Vis is more "typical" since it's used across multiple different countries.

    if the beta access was included in the preorder it would probably cost 30$, the 15$ option is only for those who want to save money and don't want to bother with beta access...

    lol... which mathematically makes the beta access worth $15, the same value as the game... which is what he said :D

  11. I think for a future idea this would be a nice stream of unique items to add to your apartments etc... but I wouldn't expect this to be implemented and readily available in the TS module, or any beta modules for that matter. It just comes down to having additional objects created, and object content shouldn't be a priority at this stage.

    I will either own a store or provide information for every faction on the island. (Info on criminals for police, info on police for criminals, info on rival companies, etc.) I might do both! :)

    What happens when someone comes to you for information and you don't have any information on that particular group?
    And when you do start leaking information over companies etc... players instinctively won't trust you because you're constantly sharing information that players want to be kept private.

    You may be better off advertising yourself as a Private Investigator rather than a provider of information. That way information you track down can be presented, if you can't track any information down, you're still paid for the time invested into it. You'll just need to expand your network early on to get "informants" or sources of information.

    Ideally once the first Module is released the other Modules will have a big template to go off. I understand everyone's point of it being delayed and of course i do respect the opinions.

    'Early Access' obviously is something that we all know is becoming a major problem, game being unfinished, sloppy starts or just slower updates once the release. In my opinion yes they could have released the TS on time but would it be at a cost?

    Would the game be buggy as hell, would the optimisation be stable?. Would there be enough content to keep players occupied whilst updates are being distributed out?

    If they are released the TS on time, i personally think they would have ended in a worse position than pushing the early access back. People are not going to play a game that has no content or is unplayable. They are going to complain that this is all they received for all the money they backed into the game.

    After this i am hoping the game is to be released within a few weeks. Once the tracker is completed then we wait 1 week for steam to verify the game.

    Thanks

    This is how I see it with regards to content... development takes time, testing takes even longer. Once TS gets released, it isn't going to contain any features that'll keep players occupied longer than a week because it's not a demo or full beta, it's a part of the beta.
    As far as I see it though, regardless of when TS comes out, if players log in to the TS module and run around, they shouldn't be entitled to the refunds anymore, as they've played the game and used the beta access feature. It isn't a "test-drive" in the end of the day...

  14. To be honest, I'd prefer it to be the other way around... purely because players tend to be complete dicks these days that will do anything to gain an advantage over someone when it comes to multiplayer. In PUBG, players would turn off all additional texturing and detail, and that ultimately led to you thinking you're safe hiding in a bush, but on the "cheats" screen, you're sat still out in the open fully exposed... this shouldn't be the case in an immersive game, you can't just turn bushes off IRL, so you shouldn't have that option in this game imo, or to turn off a lot of detail that could otherwise alter the way the game is played.

  15. I'm curious to see where the community currently are in regards to what jobs and roles they'll provide to servers. I've currently made a couple of categories in a poll (if the poll shows) to allow people to just vote their way in if they don't want to share specifics, so check out the options and throw in a vote if you can!

    If you're interested in sharing who you plan to be, post below;

    Character name: Roger Picklebottom
    Role: Content Creator
    Focus of role-play: Self-proclaimed best-seller of books
    Why?: I've always wanted to write books (IRL), so to bring in this aspect for an in-game role-play allows me to see how well my writings would actually be sought after. Now I'm not saying that all my work will be good to read, or whether people will want to read them, but it would be nice to see how well my work could interact with people, and since I can't draw/paint to save my life, the written aspect of content creation in this game is really appealing for me :D
    Expected Income: Next to nothing, but I'll still strut about and act like I'm someone like "Richard Castle" from the TV Show "Castle"

    EDIT: I know there are quite a few similar topics like this, I'd just like to see the answers in poll format too, to get a gauge of how well the community would be split across the roles.

  16. My two cents on this;
    - Dates shouldn't be announced. It's a bad idea, especially given the track record.
    - Progress should be showcased more uniformly to keep people in the loop better, to avoid topics like this.
    - Clear goals need to be set by the devs as to what is achievable in the short time-frame. TS doesn't need to launch with everything it initially set out to include, it simply needs to be released to allow players a chance to walk around. So for barber shops and tattoo shops, that's something that doesn't add to the base mechanic of the game which is what TS needs to showcase.
    - Upon the release of TS, members that went into TS shouldn't qualify for any refunds (they've already received the "Beta" access, and have used that service) since their initial payment is a pledge/donation, not a payment of service.

    Just to comment regarding the above posts, I don't actually know how many devs there are for this game, or which devs are working on which modules... I'm sure I heard/read somewhere that the SWAT module is already in development, but knowing how many resources are allocated to this and TS might give an estimation to see how quickly one module will be completed over the other. Maybe they're looking to release TS, and then shortly after SWAT so having a lot of devs working on SWAT while only a few on TS... while I'm sure that's probably not what the community wants to hear, it's definitely the most sensible option since TS doesn't actually have any core gameplay features, it's simply a social area (Imagine if the Destiny games' betas just had the Tower... players wouldn't be happy sitting with only Tower access for months on end with no way to utilise the game for what it's intended). Ultimately, they need to gauge whether or not it would be successful simply putting TS out there in an unfinished state to silence a few mouths, or whether that would "kill the hype" for the game, and ultimately make the game less successful.

    In short, people need to be more focused on seeing the long-term plan for the game rather than a short-term release of a beta module. I'm sure you all won't be too happy if TS was released and flopped due to having SWAT module being released two years after TS. I realise this contradicts point 3 in my list in a sense, but that's said without knowing how many devs are working on which modules. I'm just hoping SWAT isn't too far behind TS, and likewise TS can be released in advance of it being 100% complete... if that makes sense?

  17. I'm not convinced a time-schedule should be required to force people into playing the game (if they don't want to actually play that week or even month)... has there been any mention that police officers have restricted numbers?

  18. As there clearly seems to be some form of breakdown in communication here, I haven't asked any questions that have already been answered; I've asked why there's a severe void in official communications, and why the existing forms of communications are spread across multiple forms of media: - Twitch, YouTube, Discord, Forums, Announcements, E-mail, Twitter... None of which have been answered, because Lucky can't answer that.
    If you read the original post, my entire post is asking why there is a void in official communication. The announcements section should be used to inform the community, and it isn't being used. The last announcement is April 20th, and reading that announcement, you get the understanding that the module should have been released at the end of April... that hasn't happened, and there's no official explanation as to why. No community members should be forced to go on a treasure hunt looking for information that should be readily available.

    You cannot say that there isn't a void in communication, because if the community were well-informed through Announcements (they literally get sent to registered member's email accounts) there wouldn't be the majority of duplicate topics that there are. That's my problem... and I have no ill-will to Lucky, he's doing what he's supposed to, but what Preston is doing is what a successful community typically tries to avoid, because if you look at any of the past duplicate topics; he's in there being just as condescending and self-righteous in them all. People want information, they don't want to be "put-down" for asking questions about something they've invested money in.

    Now, as for a duplicate topic, please by all means link in where there's a discussion about a severe break-down in communication. The only posts I've found aren't topic starters based on communication, but there are several people expressing the same opinion;

    I mean, the list goes on... but you get the picture.
    (For reference, this is just three posts I picked out key-wording "Communication", that aren't one of the three people that liked the original post of this thread).

  19. Testing is actually a much longer process than coding usually... for example, you code the key handler to pop up your interface under a certain key press... you also have to factor in what happens around all scenarios in that key press; is the player dead, are they moving, are they already performing an action, is an interface already open, has the key been pressed once or multiple times, is the action of they key press already in progress... etc etc. Testing can be an extremely difficult process to go through because you have to try think of all circumstances that a player would experience when pressing that particular key, or triggering that specific event. Obviously once you identify a bug, you then have to adjust the coding to rectify it, which then means you need to restart the testing.

    1. Another way to have a question answered is going on the discord and asking Beach_Ball.

    2. I too would love more info, but also I can't answer everything as you can see because I am a Moderator and can only tell you what I get told.

    1. That’s exactly the problem. Discord, Twitch, YouTube, Forums, Announcemens... so many ways and different places to track certain goings-on which should never be the case. Information should be readily available and be broadcast centrally from the original website of any project. It’s all good and well saying the information and progress is out there... as far as I’m concerned it isn’t, because there hasn’t been an official announcement by Asylum for three months. It’s an extremely poor communication structure, and it needs addressing.

    2. It’s not your job to be a messenger as a moderator of forums. Your job is to keep the forums clear of garbage. The fact you have to relay on so much information as a moderator should be confirming point 1. to you even more... the simple truth is, they need to be putting out weekly announcements about progress, linking content like the twitch streams or YouTube uploads, advising on progress and setbacks, stating what future development plans are and engaging with the community.
