  1. I know I haven't signed into the forum in a long time, but it would be nice if there were at least one update per month.  This would let us know that the developers are still alive and that there is some progress being made.  Personally, I forgot the name of this project and haven't thought of it since their last video update on YouTube.

Are there any plans on updating the community on what's going on, anytime soon?

Why do people do that kind of crap to their cars?  Those obnoxious sounds, and obnoxiously low cars that get stuck on speed bumps.

I've only recently gotten into cars, and prior to my recent interest, I was unaware of the obnoxious RICE "subculture" (as a friend put it).

I forgot, what do you folks call a vehicle that has the body of, say, an economy car, but the engine of a sports car?

I bought Arma 3 but literally every time I tried to get on a server the mod kicked me off.

Not sure if it's because I was new or they just didn't want anyone else in the server or what but I'm doing trying.

But thank you so much for the suggestion! It looks like it would have been really cool if I had actually been able to play.

You're getting kicked off automatically, it has to do with some bugged files in your game (if I recall correctly).  Try verifying your game's cache integrity on Steam.

For those wondering, the team here (Asylum Entertainment Inc.) operates the Asylum Altis Life servers on ARMA 3.

This is just a thought, but I think you may be able to craft higher "level" things the more skilled you are. So for example, anyone starting out could easily create a chair or table, but those that craft much more often would be able to make a dresser or a complex wooden sculpture. Something along those lines. Also, I'm sure you could be both a lumberjack, as well as a miner if you wanted to! I think those may be considered jobs, not careers. I don't know if any of this is correct, but that's how I imagined it would work. ^.^

It's a pain in the butt for most people to assemble furniture, let alone build their own furniture (I being one of those, as well as a majority of humans on this planet).  I'm certain there will be basic furniture to help get us started.  By the way, overall, I like what you wrote.

  7. We could attack their employees or employers (i.e. if the politician was a gangster grunt before entering office), and the politicians themselves.   By attacking their businesses, we interrupt some of their income.

$0 minimum wage.  I doubt anyone is going to make very little in this game, just as in the real-world.  A minority of people make minimum age in the real-world, and most are teens and young adults, and largely part-time workers.
If one is making a living while earning minimum wage, then that one has some serious life issues, or is on welfare, or both.  Otherwise, for the most part, people aren't trying to "raise a family of four" (a common claim) on seven US dollars per hour.  By the time one has a family, that one typically has started a career of some sort.

I can go very deep into economics for the economically illiterate (I do not intend offense there) if need be.  In a proper free market full of competition and void of welfare leeches reluctantly working, there is good salary.

Now, in regards to this game, once more, I do not think anyone will earn a horribly low wage, and if one does, then one can seek out another employer.  Identity's simulated economy will not be nearly as complex as the real-world's economy, so keep that in mind too.  My point is, a minimum wage would be unnecessary and would only be implemented in law as a "feel good."

well so are games such as BDO and Blade and Soul and i mean... have you seen what people have created? it's hilarious but limitations for a game such as this would be good while still giving way to avoid having same face syndrome.

BDO was supposed to be one of the more realistic of mmos out there and yet

Black Desert Online is a fantasy MMORPG, one with monsters, magic, and mythical races.  It makes sense that they have some funny content in there.

So, I don't think we'll see any long-eared elf-looking people or people with non-flesh skin colors.  Unless you mean something else?

There are going to be gun stores, but since money is going to be valued realistically, getting your hands on one is gonna be quite hard.

Maybe it will depend on supply and demand, from players working for a weapons manufacturer.  From what I experienced in Asylum's Altis Life, they have a system that attempts to mimic supply and demand.

So, if guns are plentiful and demand is low, prices should drop.  If guns are scarce and demand is high, prices should rise.
Here's a supply and demand graph to assist any readers:

  11. Hello reader,

Identity will have a 3D sound environment, for when one is wearing headphones, correct?  Most games do.  As someone with a deaf ear, I find the surround audio to be somewhat unrealistic as everything to my left is completely mute; meanwhile, in the real-world, I can still hear a bit if someone is on my left side talking due to the nature of sound waves.

My idea is to have an option to set the audio to mono, sort of as if I was listening through my speakers (which, technically, still output audio as left and right).  I have tried to set my computer to send audio as mono to my headphones, but the limitations of my audio devices/drivers prevent me from doing so.

For those wondering why I even wear  headphones, it's so that I can understand voice communication since without them, it's more difficult for me to understand what one is saying (i.e. mishearing words, or not hearing them properly at all).

It would really make my day to play a game that supports those of us with a hearing disability (in this case, complete hearing loss in one ear).  There are a very few games out there that support this and I have played a couple of games with mono audio settings in a 3D environment (I cannot recall any game titles at the moment, should examples be requested).

    Regards,
    Jared

  12. I like that this game will be rated for adults, though that won't stop minors from showing up.  Best we can do is accept that there will be a few.  Thankfully, they should be a minority since this game's target audience age ranges in the 20's.

Of course, as Shadow pointed out, there will be immature adults too.  There's immature people everywhere.  People will be people.

Overall, this community's member ages do generally match the game's target audience, or at least what I perceive to be the apparent target audience.

  13. It's unfortunate that the budget is limited, and I can easily see why.  The quality of the game looks great, notably the good graphics, from what we've seen so far.  I hope this project gets more publicity, that would help a ton.

  14. I am hyped and this got me thinking of a role-play name.  Perhaps I will go with the surname of my Korean side, Pak, which happens to be the same as nearly 4,000,000 other real-world Koreans.  As for first name, I do not know; but, my first name will most likely be English/Biblical, which is something very traditional.  I'll try not to pick a common name such as John.

As for my occupation, I do not know.  I am going to be realistic and admit that I will not open a business anytime soon.  I might open a fast food joint, should the game allow that.  My career plan, for the most part, will be political.

@ShenjiNagasaki Correction, the United States of America is a Democratic Constitutional Republic. Not a pure Democracy.

Family First, Mission Always. Stay Safe.

Though, America is far more democratic than it was originally in the First Republic/Old Republic.  No longer do you need to have even a single ounce of interest in this land to be able to vote, all that is required is age and ID.  Even non-citizens can vote in certain areas in the US.  Even then, we are still a republic; but, very loosely so, and within this century, we will barely have a republican (not party) government.

We have a constitutionally limited representative democratic republic -- that is the technical term for the United States form of government, if you want to get nerdy on the subject.

That solely depends on the contract between the actor and the bank.

    Sorry for my delayed response.
Would that mean the use of force could be agreed upon in the contract, i.e. allowing the involvement of private security and warranting the arrest of the one who did not pay as agreed upon in the terms of the contract?

Identity takes place within a state of the US.

It does say the island will take place in the eastern US and is inspired by the Carolinas and Georgia.
They said the location was chosen because of the climate and terrain that could be inspired from those respective areas (eastern US, Carolinas, Georgia).

From what it sounds like so far, this land will be completely autonomous and therefore we'll be governing ourselves.  In other words, a micronation.
