But you're seeing where im getting at? I chose to help them, by giving them something frommy daily life, and we dont hear shit, and suddenly the game wont release. Im mad as a rock atm. I understand its a difference in the matter of timezones and stuff, but this should've been sorted out weeks ago!!

Oh, yes, I understand your point. I apologize if I seemed to be undermining it. They are certainly Struggling with PR, and it's a problem. My point was really that they seemed to be trying to balance PR and work right now. Your point is entirely valid, though.

maybe start showing us some freakin respect? without us you wouldnt even have salaries for your employees. im noy saying i dont support you anymore, but i have invested a part of my daily life into yours. At least have the decency to answer back!

One mod seems to be hanging around here to answer things. I would assume the others are busy, asleep, or staying quiet to get a grasp on the situation before responding. All developers are most likely working right now.

  3. The game was submitted at least a week ago, the problem now is that the game glitched and the servers crashed. Steam had no hand to play in this, and neither did Asylum. They both thought the game was ready, but something seemed to have gone wrong. Steam isn't doing anything, so it seems this was a legitimate error that Asylum shouldn't be blamed for.

  4. The game now states it's not ready, so everyone who's coming in now knows something has occurred. Steam, being the large, respected company they are, seems to have no issue with the problems Identity is facing, so I trust that Asylum had no ill hand to play in this. It was an honest programming error that caused this delay.

Welp... It's time for release :P

There seems to have been some server issues that the developers need to smooth out before we can play. They're working on them as we speak, and if they aren't too severe, I'd expect the game to come out in around a few days. I don't know for sure, though.

  6. I am not upset with this game or its developers, but I once stated the devs have had a rough time handling the backers for Identity, and I still believe that is true. We are harsh and critical, but still vital and supportive. Neither party wants to see this game crash and burn. This should mean we're all on the same side, willing to do what is needed to try and scooch the game along, but that's not the case here.

We aren't informed enough, Asylum. Thre are rumors flying around. I'm much more inclined to trust you over those rumors, of course, but I'm just one person in a sea of people who seem to be mostly upset right now. I trust you, and I will keep trusting you. Throw me off a cliff if you'd like, but I support you. You've worked hard and gotten better, but there's still some important gaps in communication. If the game is a little buggy, come clean and tell us. Development is hard. We know you're working to fix it. If there was a little delay, be open and admit it. We've all been late before. Sure, we might be disappointed, maybe even mad, but at least you'd have done the right thing. Please don't be afraid of us. We cant trust someone who doesn't trust us. I say we, but I know  only speak for myself. I just hope my words ring true for others as well. Keep fighting on, Asylum. You're going to get there. <3

  7. They submitted the game to Steam a bit ago. I'm assuming the servers crashing was due to a flood of players or some test that went awry. I still trust this game and its Devs. They've improved a lot from what I've seen, and perhaps it's just my nature, but I see no reason to be mad at them for this right now. I understand many people are getting impatient and fed-up with Asylum, and it's not unjustified, but they are honestly trying to fix the issue. We are still going to get our game; that much is certain fact. The time is the iffy thing here, and it wasn't like the developers intentionally broke the servers for us. Give them a little longer, please. It's hard to work when not only your big game has messed up, but there are also a legion of irate supporters on your tail. I believe in them. I'm not asking for your faith, I only beseech you to give them at least the rest of the day or so.

That's a relief. At least they honestly had no idea this would've occurred. They're working to fix it, so all we can really do is wait for the next update on the situation. They're probably embarrassed enough as is; no need to keep berating them. Not that I want to scold them, anyways.

Town Square will feature the ability to preview apartments in their standalone form. This means you'll be able to walk around each apartment to see what they look like without any user-placed furniture. We'll probably be able to get screenshots of them out at some point prior to Town Square's launch too. In the meantime, Jade did stream a number of apartments a few months back that showcased their floorplans, and we also got to see a section of the Penthouse in Dev Blog 19.

Jade has posted some WIP renders of apartments before if you'd like to take a look below. Please note that he did end up placing some of his previously created items in the following apartments to help get a sense of how users would be able to make use of the room provided. The previews you can view in-game will be more empty.

The fact that you responded less than three hours after we asked for apartment screenshots means a lot to me. I'm glad to see that sort of engagement. :D

So it wont contain much? Then what is taking so long, for "not containing much" Like the develop has been stuck on last phase for months now, one single thing.. I mean, how long will it be till 2nd and 3rd module will be released?

The first module was the foundation of the game; that's why it has taken so long. This module contains everything so the game can function as it should, and the other modules will go off of the coding already in place and add some new things that connect with it. The 2nd and 3rd module will take considerably less time to come out, as the base game is already in place to be added once all the additional assets are put on. It's like a cake; we have the 1st module, which is our actual bread cake. We baked it, and now it's just sitting there on the counter, warm, kinda plain, but still tasty and good on it's own. Then, the other two modules are like our frosting and sprinkles. They go on the cake, make it a lot more pretty and delicious, and everyone is happy. The cake took about 30 or 40 minutes to bake, but the frosting took around 10. We just needed the cake first.

Considering this game will be built to host constant activity and people, the testing of the systems has to be strenuous and meticulous. They can't let the game collapse on itself.  I think they should've been more open about that, but we're almost there, so I wont gripe about it.

  11. On top of the other points, holding the release off would do more harm than good for two reasons:

    1. This module is for the pledgers. Once it's out, those who already invested will get it. No one outside of them will be able to waltz in and pick up the module. They'll have to wait. It wont matter if other games release, because we've already paid our piece for TS.

    2. The community is getting worn out by the waiting. For good reason, too. I understand why we're waiting, but it's not easy to wait this long for some people. To have another delay, just for a better showing, would fall flat on its face. There would be backlash from the fans. They've waited long enough, they don't care about the possible publicity. The developers should give their community the game once it's done.

    Hello

I'm new to the forums and Identity. I like the concept of the game from what I've seen and read in the last few days. And yet I don't know a great deal of what the game offers or the goal of Identity when relating to players exploring the world of Identity. Is Identity a sandbox mmo that allows the players to build and run the server as they see fit. Are there resources supporting a player to be anything they choose to be in Identity. Does Identity support decay player crafted items to rot over time.

I have a lot of questions I hope some players can explain what Identity is and what it can offer for a player like myself.

First of all, welcome! Happy to have new people around! :D I'm not the most knowledgeable on this subject, but I will try my best to answer. Take my words with a grain of salt, please.

1.Identity is MMO, with a large town/city and rural areas to explore. There is no major building, but we will get to place furniture inside our homes and plant crops in certain areas. There is no free building like in Minecraft.

    2. Many jobs will be supported, such as businessmen/women, cops, criminals, politicians, firefighters, hunters, farmers, and so on. However, more mundane jobs, such as a janitor, dancer, or cashier, will not be supported. The careers we will get to select will have to be something prominent, as the devs want to make sure all jobs are fun. Jobs will not be in the Town Square module set to release soon. We are not able to test out jobs yet.

    3. Certain items, like food, may decay. I don't believe a shirt will decay, nor would a piece of furniture. They may add that later, but as of right now, it's never been stated items would decay.

    4. To give my best summary of Identity, it is a MMO with over 300 players and a large landscape where every player contributes to the economy and world. Players will get to pick any job they like (with the politicians being exempt, as we must be elected) and earn money to buy items such as clothing and furniture. It is very much a roleplaying game, along with cops and robbers elements, and any townie-type game. Everyone is able to kill one another, but not without severe consequences. This game tries to stick close to real life, so for casuals who want to enjoy some deep roleplay, it's a dream come true.

  13. Before I begin, to be clear, I am fully aware that this module will be done when it's done. I trust Asylum.

My question is what is changing on the task tracker. It says it's being updated, but I see nothing new. Is it actually changing? Is there something I can't see overtly? If it's telling us progress, I would like to know. I keep feeling like it's glitching for me.

No. Body’s do not have physical change in size and shape.  The devs hope to add that in later after release of full game.

Ah, I see. That is what I meant, but I didn't realize it was only to be added after the full release.
