You do not age in Identity and you cannot be a child avatar and only an Adult avatar. You can RP as someones Adult child if you want etc. However no aging, but you will likely be able to change your appearance.

Thanks for that answer LuckyDuck.  It helps with the backstory for my character :)

  2. Just putting out a question for everyone on whether you will be playing characters that represent your real life or will you be choosing a younger or older age for your character?

At the moment, I'm torn.  Having a character my real age will give more experience in the backstory, however a younger age means he will be building up a full life with experiences to be gained.

Pfft. Come on, you're level 45. You should know better than to label your level as an age. :)

Level 34, myself. And I think it'll be great for everyone of all ages and walks of life to participate in this game. Not only will it bring a few generations together into one game community, it'll open doors for communication that are rarely possible in other games. Example: I like that we'll all be able to share and create content with one another, for one another, etc. On the flip-side, let's hope to Cthulu that the game isn't overrun with trolls and becomes an Arma-like environment that isn't fun for anyone, given how there will indeed be different age groups in the game. Eager to see how all of this plays out!

I approve of your level system as opposed to age.  Glad to see someone else uses it lol.  I'm only level 40 here so I too wonder how the lower levels are going to play on the server.

No taxes for me, please.  I have souls to save!

After seeing your bio, I would expect that NPR (not for profit) organisations like yours would be exempt from tax.

  5. generally, it wouldn't really matter too much since any speed limits given in game will correspond to what is displayed in the car.  that being said however, we have km/h here in Australia so if that picture is accurate, I'd get the best of both worlds.

Although I think we are going down different paths I want to be a cop my wife tempted to be paramedic 2 of my friends want to be meth dealers and 1 wants to be an eco terrorist (no idea on why or how he would do that last one) lol

An eco terrorist?  I hadn't considered that possibility in game lol.  It would make things interesting if you had to deal with groups like that as a manufacturing business.

From the most recent Dev Blog, number seven, it states that they're currently putting the finishing touches on the game (They're finishing the clothes and coffee shop). While I understand that it might be nice to release the game now, but would you rather wait another week or have to play with a glitchy map... give them time. They do update us, just not as frequently as everyone so deeply wants. How often do we get updates from bigger gaming comapnies like Treyarch? not every day... not every week... maybe once a month. Which is way less than what we already have. The developers stream every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and answer questions, show parts of the game. I just say that we stop complaining once and for all and be patient, because complaining about not getting enough updates isn't gonna change anything. Has it so far? over the past 3+ months people have been complaining? no... it hasn't. So there's no point. I know this one post won't stop the ignorant people that continue to complain they're not receiving enough updates... but come on, this is getting to a very ridiculous point. I want the game out just as much as the rest of you, but you don't see me complaining on every forum post related to the release.

Sorry if I offended anyone, you've been offending me for months ;)

EDIT: This in no way was supposed to act as a rant, banter, or hate post. I'm simply posting relevant information towards the claims other forum users have been making.

I stand corrected in what it is they are putting the finishing touches on.  I agree another week is not much time for them to wait considering the size of the game and what this module actually contains (basically the framework for everything still to come).  I wouldn't be concerned if it was another month if we're being honest.  It just means the product we get will be even better!

Yep I can't wait! I think I've convinced my wife and 5 friends to get it also lol

Nice work!  The more players there are, the better the game will be!

  11. Personally, I'd rather wait a long time and have a fully working complete game rather than have them release what they have sooner and have it be buggy which will cost them in terms of the fanbase.  I've seen this happen before in other Pre-release games and can assure you it get's very old very fast.

From what I've seen however, it appears the town module will be out very soon since they are working on the final details (library/gallery being the big one).

just pretty sure i read somewhere that the island location is supposed to be part of the usa, but im probably wrong.

Oh, yes.  I remember seeing something about it being set on a fictional island south of America but still being part of America.  Plus, as LuckyDuck has mentioned, the cities in game are meant to be based on real cities in America.  I haven't really heard about what laws are going to be in  force though so that will be interesting to see.

My only fear is that Identity servers become like GTA V, everyone shoting at everything with no reason, and no RP.

I have faith in the devs that they won't allow something like this to happen on official servers.  There are roles for most types of players so we should see some variety in what happens as opposed to GTA where most people are criminals to some degree.

  14. This is actually a very good question that I hadn't fully considered since the game hasn't been released as yet.  That being said though, I was considering building up "2nd me" (my in game doppelganger) and then running for governor when I'm established.

As for building up "2nd me", I may end up doing something completely different from what I have done in my real life (I.T).  The possibility of fulfilling a dream I had of owning a business is very appealing to see if I could succeed or not.  However, I've gone with becoming a lawyer to represent all you players that want to become criminals.

So in answer to the original poll, I want to RP, live a second life, socialize and become rich!

Just dropping in a introduction. Interested in this game for sure. The community seems pretty active which is great. Look for me around, hoping I can get in on that beta access! You want more? Ask. :)

Hi and welcome to the forums!

I've only been here a few days myself but can agree with you that the forums are pretty active which is a very positive sign in regards to the interest this in this new genre of gaming.

@LuckyDuck I dont wanna give away what I do this early ;D. I was thinking about a small bussiness though just for some extra income. Trucking would be neat but i feel till the police really get ontop of things Im not sure I want to lose money by being robbed! Also.  @CUUKA Thank you I appreciate it!

That's a good choice you have made.  I am still trying to decide what I want to eventually do but I'm thinking of maybe running for Governor once I get myself established in game.

Looking forward to seeing you out there in Identity!

    Hi there fella's,

My name is Yordi, almost 21 years old and studying the science of programming.
I'm born and raised in the Netherlands and like to program in my freetime aswell playing/watch soccer and hangout with my mates.
I like to play MMORPG games, as I play RuneScape sometimes and hopefully Identity!

Saw the game trailer on youtube two days ago and already felt in love with the awesome aspect of this game. So I'm really looking forward to see some more stuff about this game.
Haven't bought a beta-subscription yet unfortunately, but I'm thinking about it to support the developers and ofcourse for my own good (playing the beta!)
I'm still thinking about it tho, so hope you guys will give me the last push to make the final decision.

Well, thanks for reading and have a good one!

    Welcome to the forums!

I found this game quite a while ago but it was only the other day when I did some research into it that I found my game "soul mate" with Identity.

The packages that they have available are apparently going to disappear very soon (with the release of the new site and the release of the first module for alpha testing by people who pledge).  To be perfectly honest, I would recommend doing what I did and check out the Dev Q&A clips on youtube and also take a look at what has been happening in the dev blogs.  That was what did it for me in regards to confirming my choice to get the $30 package.  That package will also allow us to help the devs pinpoint any problems that may exist and also give us a chance to provide feedback to them to help make this game live up to its full potential (there's plenty of potential that I can see).

Once again, welcome and look forward to seeing you out and about in Identity.

Yes you can do that but the characters won't be the same e.g. you will have to make a new character from scratch for the private one if you started on the official one. Also you have to be online to make money on with the character and so you will have to work ways around getting money for each character.

Maybe I will just stick to the official for a while.. private would be if enough people from the guild want to play really.
