Will the Town Square ever expand?

Question

Hi everybody :D

So I recently have been playing the Town Square for about 3 days and I love it but it kinda gets old if I'm being honest here.

I understand the shooting range, tattoo shop, etc. will be added to town square but I really don't want to be stuck in a small space for another year.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge supporter of the game and sure they're hard at work but being trapped in a small space all day makes me feel like a goldfish in a bowl swimming in little circles all day xD

So my question is this to the Identity team, Do you plan on ever expanding the map (at least a bit more) during the beta?

Also another question to the other fellow Identity supporters out there, what do you think?

Should they expand the map (even if it's a few blocks more of places to go)?

Personally I wouldn't mind if we had a huge map and had to walk during the beta, at least we have more places to explore and check out :)

Sincerely,
@Mastahakill

Once the full game releases, all the content of the modules will be compressed into a single game, right?

Or is it kinda like "instances" when you're in certain locations or doing certain things, you'll be playing "that game"?

It is basically 3 different pieces which are separate parts of the full game. You could say Module 1 is a social game mode, Module 2 a competitive game mode and then module 3 is a Racing game mode. After the 3 Modules, the content of all 3 modules will be put together into a single game world + a lot more content and the full game map. I hope that helps you understand better.

It for sure seems like a possibility to expand it maybe a few blocks the more they implement things..depending on what those things are, mentioned and unmentioned, could utilize more room than what's already provided.

Jesus! Is that a record low on steam?? You could probably release a calculator and it would get more hits than that!

I don't think so lol. Besides, people play at different times, work and school also affect play time. I think the more stable the builds, the more people will play.

I'm 100% sure that'll sky rocket if the game was fully out and would stay high for a long time.
Keep in mind that the beta is mainly for socializing and trying out the stuff that they implement and report the bugs we find to them to help deliver more value.

personally I just wish there was more stuff to do and explore in the beta.

I think it'd be more entertaining if they let us punch and knock each other out in the town square lol absolute riot at the fountain would be hilarious

The focus right now is to fix the bugs and get it more stable. Yes they'll add more interiors, but there's a possibility that they add more blocks to it. That's at least what Motown wanted.

  • The modules are not the Beta.
  • Beta comes after all 3 Modules.
  • The Beta will consist of the full map.
  • The 3 Modules are 3 standalone pieces of the full game. More an Alpha but could be considered a demo more.

Ofcourse, thank you for the clear answer :D
So during the current alpha, we might get a expansion to the map+interiors, gotcha :)

Interesting, so when the full game is released it won't be a single game, it'll be 3 standalones.

I guess I'm confused, is it going to be the full map on all 3 modules but just different game modes?

How is that going to work?

It'll be three modules, which are independent (yet connected in some ways) games. Once they're all complete, we'll move to the full game which is much, much larger and a single game encompassing all of the content from the modules and more.

No.

The Beta is the end-product that is going through its final bug-check phase. This is where the Beta access players will get in, report issues, and the developers will fix the main issues ahead of the final product being released. Asylum are literally miles of code away from this yet...

The modules are select chunks of the end-product that complete the foundation of the end-product.
- The ability to move, speak, socialise and interact (Town Square)
- The ability to use weapons, hit registration, kills/deaths (SWAT)
- The ability to use vehicles and race (Race)

Once you have all three of these foundation principles in place, the entirety of the game can then be constructed to allow for;
- Weapon modifications  (An expansion upon SWAT)
- Deathmatches  (An expansion upon SWAT)
- Grand theft auto  (An expansion upon Race)
- Demolition Derby (or the ability to blow up vehicles) (An expansion upon Race)
- Create your own role-play scenarios  (An expansion upon Town Square)
- Create your own job/business (An expansion upon Town Square)
etc... etc...

Every module has the potential to be expanded upon to add new features, new coding, new abilities, new scenarios. Think of it as building a house. You don't start with installing the windows, you need to lay the foundations and then build the walls.

OP:
All of the above really should clarify that Asylum likely won't be expanding Town Square or opening up extra areas. The module itself is the baseline for social interaction and object interaction. The only thing expanding the TS module will accomplish is further setting back the development of the other core modules.
