are we even going to see identity

Recommended Posts

I bought the game about 2 to 3 months ago and it has had one thing in testing that has been there for almost 2 months not and it tells us it was updated in the last 2 day every time i just checked it and it said 13 hours ago. i have been waiting patiently for this game to come out and i still am the only issue i have os that we are told it was updated when it was not so what i would like is to know what the delay is and if it is really going to be worth the wait. on another note, i have come across a community that has been making a game and they have been in it for 4 months and to be honest it looks as good maybe even better than identity so i have to say release the module sop that the people can see what your game is and cut the games

no disrespect but get the damn game out,

thank you :)

Beachball made a long response to one of the posts on the tracker stuff.  From what i am understanding the tracker lists a task that they need to finish but under that one task could be couple of other problems/bugs they run into or rather they can keep on running into things, soit kind looks like peeling an onion i suppose.  That clarification was much needed as i also have been concerned regarding this.

You pledged money into a game which is in development. The game won't be rushed for anyone. The Task Tracker may get/ show it is updated but there won't be a visual change all the time. The time you see the visual change is when a task is done. The tracker may be idle but they are making progress and the tracker getting updated is showing that it is up to date but the progress is not enough for that visual change.

@Chriss_Jameshere is an analytic explanation by BeachBall, that might help you.

Quote

The final UI task that's in the testing phase denotes the integration between our UI and the player Housing System. The underlying code behind the Housing System is rather complex, and the current task is to make sure that the UI we've hooked up to it functions as intended. Making sure furniture can be correctly selected and placed, wall trims altered, wallpapers set, etc. for each available apartment has been a time consuming process. Any bugs we encounter in this area generally requires us to run through a vast majority of the system again once a fix has been implemented, as changes will sometimes spawn other oddities that need to be addressed. It's also important to arrive at solutions that won't come back to hamper development in the future, as Town Square involves a lot of foundation laying for many of the core game's mechanics.

In the most recent Dev Blog, it was also discussed that the team also encountered some significant hurdles while tackling this final task. The "show-stoppers" referred to in https://www.identityrpg.com/community/topic/13488-dev-blog-20-ramping-up/ dealt with deeper level code that went beyond the UI + Housing System. The constant placing and storing of player items during the testing phase actually lead us to discover, as Motown put it, "a crash related to the database". This kind of bug needed to be addressed immediately, and is an example of one of the heavier issues we've encountered during our recent testing. The good news is that the significant problems we've found have since been addressed, and as John mentioned in the Dev Blog, "We're now knocking out the remaining minor issues being found by our testers".

Some people have pledged for far more longer and has been much more patient. I for example pledged back in late 2016, and some others have been here since Kickstarter or even before! :)

And the last task is the hurdle of the programmers. It's quite deeper than you think and Beach_Ball has already explained it more in-depth in another thread. Here's the link to it if you'd like to know more about what he had to say about it (you can start reading from where it mentions about the final UI task):

It also has been already explained why the tracker gets updated and doesn't visually change, since it doesn't show all the little details for each little progress it makes. Also, it takes some information from their project management software called Wrike.

And just wondering, is the game you're referring called "Nine To Five RPG"? Because I've heard a lot of things about that game...

Also you can't rush them to release the game, they always wanted the freedom to work at their own pace. And releasing a game too early while there's messy bugs will just make matters much worse and some players would never return again...

Whats the name of the other game

It is 9 to 5 RPG. Basically a more developed identity but with worse graphics. I say worse but I think it's stylised that way. Looks decent though and will probably release before identity.

Explain how it’s more developed.
