Corruption is going to be a huge issue especially in the police and government. This topic is going to explain my view on this issue and the way I'm going to combat it. For starters I'm going to make a law that makes all elected officials live by the laws they propose/pass (including myself) through. The next thing I'm going to do is set up districts where the people of those districts vote for representatives to represent them in a congress like set up. The only requirement is that they have to have no prior illegal gang involvement or criminal record, as well as no party affiliation. These people will help uphold a system of checks and balances to make sure no law is too overbearing. This will also assure that the will of the people alone will be met from that district. There will be a lawyer appointed from the reps (of the districts) to look into the governmental spending and cabinet members accounts. He must have no criminal record or party affiliation. This will make sure no money is flowing into criminal accounts. The police will have a strict vetting process and training to hopefully route out any bad eggs. There will be term limits. You can only be governor for 2 terms, each term being 1 year (may change). The governor will then peacefully pass down power to whoever was voted in. We will do this so no one becomes a dictator and will promote fresh ideas. The last thing is that the government will produce a public budget report at the end of each month. This will state where all the money was spent unless that information is classified for whatever reason. Questions? I believe that the legalization of marijuana is inevitable and I'm personally for it. This is going to be important for the citizens of the great island of identity and will help stimulate the economy. You may smoke it freely! The way I would set it up is that you must get a permit and storefront to sell marijuana. You can only sell in those stores to protect the integrity of the businesses that choose to sell. There will be a small tax on the sale of marijuana. Anyone caught trying to undercut the tax and legit businesses by selling the drug will be fined heavily. Although there will be no jail time since this is not considered a violent crime unless involved with a gang known to be violent. You will only get fines starting with 50$ on the first offense then doubling every time you are caught. The reason I wouldn't throw you in jail is because again it's not a violent crime and that would just be a huge governmental waste on your tax dollars. The government would have to pay for your food while in jail, the space you take up in jail, the officers time, and many more factors that would be disadvantageous for the government to pursue that route. Tax rate: 6-10% I feel like the legalization of marijuana would also limit the profits of gangs trying to profit in that area and thus limit crime in that area. Questions? I personally believe that every citizen of Identity should have access to firearms (with some exceptions). I think that it is crucial for people to have this right because if the government and cops have all the guns then they can do what ever they want to the civilian population of this island. This would also heavily fuel the illegal weapons trade which would result in more deaths and crime. Another point that I would like to make is that it's not the law-abiding citizens who you have to worry about, it's the criminals who are going to get guns anyway and commit their crime. I want people to be able to defend themselves from these criminals. After all it is every man's inalienable right to bear arms! Now to the exceptions that I was talking about. These would be people who have been convicted of violent crimes or have been hospitalized for mental health issues in the past. They will not be allowed to purchase a firearm. Violent crimes include robbery, murder, illegal affiliated gang involvement, and many more. Legal firearms will include pistols,rifles, and shotguns that are not automatic. You will need to get a special permit to carry an automatic rifle from the governmental office. You will also have to submit to a background check. If you want to purchase a civilian grade weapon (semi-auto) you will need a licence (the licence you can get from the gun store) and have to submit to a background check as well. My last point on this issue is that banning all guns will hurt a crucial legal business and that is gun trading/selling or manufacturing. This would cut jobs and make people poorer in the end. This would also shift the money supposed to be going into law abiding citizen's pockets to gangs and underground dealers thus promoting more crime. Questions? Marijuana will also be slightly taxed by the government (see the tax laws for more info). Those who get caught selling marijuana without the correct permits will be fined heavily but since this is a non-violent crime no jail time shall occur. Penalty for breaking the law: 1st offense: 50$, 2nd offense: 100$, and doubles from then on. Reasoning: We don’t want people to undercut legit businesses to make a quick profit. We want to protect our businesses no matter what it is and we will be tough on law breakers. At the same time, jail time for a non-violent crime is a governmental waste and will only result in lost money. ONLY FINES! 3. Taxes- SUBJECT TO CHANGE! Business Sales Housing Legal Drugs 3% 5% TBD 10% Code all new businesses will not have to pay taxes for 3 months so they can get on their feet. Penalty for breaking the Law: If you don't pay your taxes you will be jailed after the 3rd offense. There will be no additional fines placed on you. Jail time TBD. Reasoning: We want to ensure the growth of our businesses out there because after all that’s how people are going to make money. So by giving you the 3 strike rule this will give you a chance to redeem yourself. We will have just jail time because adding more fines to your unpayable taxes would just ruin you more and it would be stupid. 4. Non-Violent crime- This will mostly be met with fines. What is a non-violent crime? Speeding, Selling Marijuana illegally, Doing various things without a license. Basically anything that doesn’t hurt someone or yourself. 5. Term Limits- You can only be governor 3 times before you have to pass off the torch peacefully. Penalty for breaking the Law: I’d hope people rise up and rebel because then you would have a dictator. Reasoning: We want to promote fresh ideas and don’t want a dictator. 6. Pardoning- Governor may pardon individuals only by having the rest of his cabinet confirm it. Reasoning: We don’t want a political party to pardon people just because they like them or have some type of illegal business dealings with them. 7. Healthcare- We shall leave this up to the private companies the government has no right to dictate your healthcare. We’re talking about your life here. 8. Optional Welfare- If you're poor and really trying to get by you may apply for welfare. This would mean you would have to take a drug test and background test to make sure the money doesn’t go to waste. The money you would receive would only cover some living expenses. This law will only be in place if the Government can spare the money. 9. Optional Business Incentives- This governor wants to put together a fund to give incentives to businesses who are doing well. I have to open the discussion regarding the layout of the political system in identity, as reading through the forum posts I can't seem to find answers to my question of "How individuals participate in the political process". Will individuals be elected to stand for a political party like we do in the US? i.e. primaries and debates? So players can join together to create an official party (for example the Democrats and Republicans) and meet to create policies to then present in the election? Or will everyone be standing as independents in attempts to run as Governor? Okay, so I've been wondering how 'our' governor will be elected? Like will it be that stupid American system (no offence), where your vote goes to a state's electors? Or will it be like in most other countries, where the person who actually gets the most votes, win? Any other suggestions for alternative systems that might work?

Do a poll, asking wich party we wud vote for, and a little description of each. I think it wud help people like myself to get an overview of what parties we are going to have, and what their different views on everything will be. I think it would be funny if they marked their top 3 main focuses, but I would also personally like to know their views on: Guns, homosexuals, taxes, unemployment and penalties.

Information About Me and TPP If you haven't already, I strongly recommend that you read the policies of The People's Party so you are aware roughly of my principles and ideologies. Once you have read my party's policies, you are probably shocked that I am proposing higher taxes than most. I know that at first some of you may be disappointed, but I would ask you to read my most recent (as of 22:48 on the 20th of December) reply on TPP. I explain why higher taxes aren't all as bad as they seem. The ideals and policies of TPP are subject to change, and act as merely a rough guideline for anyone running under our party. If, for example higher taxes aren't doing much for the economy, I will lower them but only if it benefits the citizens. Probably one of the most reassuring aspects of me running for Governor is that I DO own a (projectably) successful business, so I have no financial agenda to accomplish by running for office. My only agenda is to assure that we all as citizens live the best possible life while earning a living. In fact, me becoming Governor will negatively impact my income due to my committees and programmes that I wish to put into place. Yes, those will be tax run programmes however I am having to take on unreliable convicts and newbies as employees and pay them, which won't be good for me. hmm after reading a bit of the CCPs platform and the other platforms of the Moderate Party and the Anarcho-Capitalist Party, I'd be inclined to join the CCP due to its organization and well thought out platform which obviously reflects on them as devoted players who take this seriously. Unfortunately, as a left-leaning libertarian (libertarian socialist if that makes it easier for you, i don't like to call it that because it brings out ignorant stigmas due to its connotation) - though i don't support a complete free market like most libertarian socialists do, but rather a mixed market economy (free market with some government regulation) - so my ideals conflict with a couple areas of the CCPs and Moderate Party's platform. Due to these conflicts I'd be interested in forming a left-leaning, libertarian political party. If anyone is interested in forming a legitimate left-leaning political party to offer the people of Identity an alternative choice to their current options please contact me so that we can get organized and develop a throught-out platform that caters not only the the left-leaning, but to all citizens of Identity as well. Well, Frank got me thinking, if I weren't a member of the Luprano Family, I would create the Conservative Solidarity Party. The Party would hold traditional conservative values i.e pro-life, nationalism, patriotism, pro-capitalism, pro-death penalty, pro-gun etc. A gray area would be the topic of gay marriage. We would believe in the right to marry who you'd like, (may it be a fucking leg of a chair) with certain limitations in the process as well as the marriage itself. The Party supports a democratic republic system. Not sure if there are too many differences with our party and the Conservative Coalition Party but oh well. This will only be relevant if I were to leave the life of crime, (unlikely) but this was definitely fun to make.

Hello! I just recently became part of the Identity community, and after hearing a lot about the game, I am considering having a career in politics when the game comes out. But I am wondering how politics will work in Identity, since people being online at different times will make it difficult and chaotic to have an election and campaigns?

Do you think it would be likely that a civil revolt, revolution, civil war or war of independence would occur in Identity? I think it would be interesting what would happen, especially for the two latter, as separate groups and militias would arise -such as US loyalists and separatists- and fight for power. It'd be also interesting to what caused these events and how the government would deal with them. Political turmoil could also add to the roleplay of the game.

So this is something I found on another area of the forum, but thought it should be posted here. 1. What about having embassies? Since every server will have it's own government, you could have embassies for each on all the fficial servers. i.e., on Server 1 you can find the Server 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc embassies. This would add more jobs, as then as governor, you could appoint ambassdors to all the other servers. 2. With these embassies, you may think, what's the point in these embassies, this is where inter-server trading comes in. If you make something on Server 1, then people in the other Servers can purchase your item at the Server 1 Embassy in their own servers. 3. If not embassies, this could be a use for the airport, having it so that if you take your goods to the airport, people in other servers can then buy them at their own airports. I know that you will be able to elect a governor on the servers, so i have been wondering how the bodyguards will work. Do you guys think the bodyguards should, or will have special abilities like being able to manipulate the VIP in dangerous situations and maybe grab them and push them into the back of a safe car? What other abilities should bodyguards have to keep their VIP safe?
