Welcome Jamesluck!

I studied Game Development myself. Gotta be careful with some of those for-profit technical schools!

Are you studying programming, or art?

The same can be said about every country. But as an Englishman, I love this country we call the UK. That doesn't mean there isn't any flaws, but that's life.

The culture, food, architecture, history, roads, cars, countryside. Really, I could go on and on. But you tell me, what is there to love about wherever you live?

Agreed upon, apart from the weather.

I live in Manchester so.....

And our culture isn't exactly anything special is it, it doesn't stand out in any way from my point of view. The history is good yes, we have good transport networks correct, cars is a bit of a generalised term tbh most countries above the brandt line have cars and while yes the countryside may be slightly more scenic it means you have to go to the places where there is very little to do and the transport networks are less and less.

We have free healthcare, well we do now and hopefully David Cameron will fuck the hell off trying to privatise it.

My main niggles with this country are as follows and I think they are enough to support my argument that this is a somewhat miserable country.

The weather is awful, nobody can deny that and as a result we get more traffic jams, slower construction stuff like that.

People are quite awful, and yes while every city will have its share of nice people the general British stereotype is known not to want to socialise as much as many would want with strangers whilst passing them on the street or on a bus for example. The people can also be quite rude. All of that might seem unfair though as we are used to this social system which we have lived in for many years, but after being to countries like Canada and seeing how much more friendly they were towards strangers I'm not just bringing that statement out of thin air.

Then we have chavs, which are in many cases a rude and unpleasant group of people who make the streets an unpleasant place to roam at night.

I could complain about the government but most countries have government's with issues so I will leave that out.

It's not exactly the most scenic country in the world either.

But we put up with it don't we, I put up with it and don't get angry at the fact I don't like the country very much, I look at the positives and live my life as I should. If I really hate it that much I can pack my bags and move away, so remember I'm simply stating my opinion here.

Yeah I so agree, but I got to say the weather is the worst thing here but then again we don't get tsunamis and hurricanes and earthquakes, like all the better stated countries for their weather e.g. america gets more sun at some areas. but then again its balanced out. they get the best weather and the extreme weather. while we get ok weather and terrible weather all the time.

Your opinion is more facts at the same time, but I love being able to say I am English, I just love it for some reason. not saying I wouldn't move to another country. I would but at the same time, England can be better than other places. but I agree with your opinions too.

I was sure you didn't live here in England and had some vendetta against it. But whoops! Ah well. And yes, I agree with most of your remarks about England, although I've never been to Manchester. Glad I'm living in a crime-free zone of London, though! Also, as a partial Canadian, yes, I have found a number of nicer people residing in Canada then England. And fuck off Cameron!

Lovely, two responses without any hate or snide remarks! That's a salute from me to both of you :D

James yes I forgot about the safety from natural disasters we get here as an absolute positive to the country, and Jaxx Manchester is probably one of the best cities in the country, it doesn't make it amazing though. The worst cities in the country are places like Wolverhampton, stay away from there aha I think its actually been rated the UK's most miserable place x D
