Release date?

Recommended Posts

Alright, we need a release date, especially the people that bought $30+ packages, I see that the game is being "polished" right now, but without a guarantee, this could just lead to another long ass delay. I understand it doesn't take 2 days to make a perfect game and such, but this game has been in development for ages now. I speak for a lot of others when I say that the wait needs to end, and we need something.

Hey @BlackyBootyCrust,

are you talking about a release date for the game itself or for the first module?

For the whole game its too early to say a release date because the modules haven't been released yet and the beta is far away too. I think we will get a release date during beta period, maybe a bit before beta release.

Regarding the Town Square Module you already said that they are doing polishing work right now. But there is also the interiour of the library that has to be done. So its not just polish work. We all want the Town Square Module as fast as possible of course, because nothing is more cool to finaly get a piece of the game to play. We just have to wait. But i think its not too far away ;)

Greetings

He is talking about the module, if they are only finishing polishing interiors and stuff they should at least give us a good release date for when this module comes out.

They don't want to give a date because they don't want to disappoint anyone again.

I feel like this i kinda just an alpha (you can call it a beta if you want), but we are the testers, and therefore I feel like they could publish anything, just anything so people just could get their hand on it - I don't think this first module where its only possible to socialise will be that interesting, but it would be more exciting if there were recent updates with various improvements.

TBH i kinda agree, i would actually prefer to see the world around me improve by the updates. experience the hard work going into the game.
why not block the library off, release, update and open library when ready.

But im cool with waiting too, w.e.

The modules are alpha and were never the beta. The Beta is the closest thing we will get to the game. People have been calling the modules Beta but really they are not.

I agree with Dadofmad, why not just release it now, block it off or leave it the way it is until they finish and update. A lot of people who be satisfied with that rather than wait longer.

1 month is way too long a wait for something that should have been released since late 2016, I didnt pay the $30 to sit here and watch them constantly say that they are just tying ends up and it will be released a week later, then a week later, then a month later, then almost a whole year

The devs said that painting will be a thing in the town square and likely that you can like submit the paintings to the art gallery which would be cool for people to see other's creations. Also reading will also be something I am sure and well as much as we would like it early, the devs are not ready to release it before these are done.

Art Gallery and the Library are the same building but the library is the upstairs part. Also yes it is correct they did say the 3 of them were being finished off.

This is becoming very absurd.... this game has been in development for over 2 years, It's taken them this long to put together a single module and even that they have pushed back the release of multiple times, This team needs to work on their abilities and actually release a product instead of wasting away everyones money and saying they are making progress lol

It's a single module that should've been done long long ago, just sad honestly.

Getting to the point that I may just end up getting a refund while I can before this turns into all the other games that get backed then the devs take the money and run.

Hey there,

I believe for many reasons why the module was pushed back was that, 2 years is not enough which is the max length you can put for something to be released from kickstarter. They then gave a bad estimate saying March was enough extra time and then in April they made a deal/ partnership with SpartialOS which in turn they needed to make sure it was compatible with that SpartialOS. They also have re-made the Towns Square in the past because the roads were too small and also they had to re-do the city/ map because it was flat and so added variation to it. This year they also re-worked the Towns Square module with better / updated graphics. While all of this was over a year or so, the devs took a year and a half to do the core mechanics of the game in which they under estimated the time originally at kickstarter for how long it would take.

I believe this is a great summary to why it is taking so long and also why it was delayed many time; however it is your choice to get a refund or not.

Hope this helps!

regards,

LuckyDuck.

Well said honestly but they should have released something long ago... You could easily release it and update it as needed (enlarge the roads, ect.) and by releasing it they also could draw more new comers and draw in more money to further better their product, along with the money releasing it would allow the community to help find the small stuff that they have been struggling with and give tips to help to improve the product. Maybe I am wrong, but to me (A fellow game developer) it is a way better business model than pushing it back multiple times and losing alot of hype towards the game and having a lot of people getting and trying to get refunds.

I would love to hear everyone's opinion on it though :)

Well with some things, we must move back to go forward and so taking the chance with pushing it back which loses people could bring a lot more in the end. (Just my opinion).

I do believe that the developers don't want us to have a "Early Access" like Alpha and so they would rather have the module nearer complete with no bugs/ obvious stuff than to have a fully buggy "Early Access" type of closed Alpha.

They do not like Early Access and so would rather give us a more featured / fully completed interior/ exterior of the module's buildings and surroundings.

  • The modules are pretty much exactly like early access....

They are giving us modules which is an early access look at a part of the game, They will not be able to iron out all the bugs or near to half most likely. So by just relabeling it as a module doesn't change the fact that it early access... My guess is that when they go to launch said modules it will crash just as much as any early access game, along with this I'm guessing that their servers will most likely be crashing a lot also because they are undoubtedly not able to handle the amount of traffic they will be getting on it. If they were to have released a product earlier, let's say even 2 months ago they would be able to iron out server issues along with a lot of other issues which are most likely going to come up long before this apparent "Module system" they are putting in place.

Ontop of that what would you buy into more honestly something labelled as early access or something labelled as a modular system? Most would buy the thing that has the new name and isn't recognized with multiple failed games.

It was a smart business move to rename it as a module though I will admit.

@Timmeht1 The modules as an Alpha stage, is a closed Early Access of the game yes, but it is also a standalone piece of the game and so really it is not directly like a normal Alpha so to speak. (if you get what I mean). I miss said the part about the devs not early access and so I apologise for it as I believe they don't like the "Early Access" thing on steam I believe. The module is a piece of the game which don't need the other pieces to function properly. The Modules in my opinion won't be unstable like other "Alpha's" and also I believe that the modules won't cause the servers of spartialOS to crash, but instead SpartialOS is in deed in early stages of development.

Good for you. Never realised we had so many "game developers" on these forums who seem to know so much about developing a Next-Gen MMORPG.

Not overly next gen... maybe when it was being developed 2 years ago but many companies have games lined up already in development that will be surpassing what has been promised by this game
